  1. Wow, sorry to hear that FOG...glad to hear that you guys weren't more seriously hurt! I've been rear ended before at 5 mph and it sucked. I can't imagine what it is like at 45 mph!
  2. You sure it's MSNBC? I'm checking the channel guide and it's alternating between Countdown, Rachel Maddow, and Hardball for the rest of the night.
  3. Wow, that grime looks like it was really ground in on the Grand Marquis. The previous owners must have never bothered to clean it on a regular basis. I usually try to Armor All my interior at least once a month during the summer. During the winter, it's more like once every couple months. I knew a girl in college that hadn't washed her car (a '90s Cutlass Supreme) the entire time she'd owned it (almost 4 years). I don't even want to think about what the salt was doing to her paint.
  4. I don't mind it at first, but it does start to piss me off after a while if the city doesn't plow the streets...especially when you're at a left turn protected light with a bunch of people behind you or ahead of you and can't make it through in time because no one can get any traction. When the snow is fresh it's fun to take corners fast and let the rear end whip around, something you never get to do on dry road with a FWD car.
  5. Thought up some more Douchebags that start fights in bars Poorly-timed traffic lights that force you to speed to make it through them all Sporting a full beard just because you saw it in a fashion magazine Tight indie jeans and mop top haircuts General intolerance and stupidity
  6. People that park their carts at a 45 degree angle and block the other half of the aisle with their ass, completely oblivious that someone might need to get by
  7. At my parents' house, we've had an artificial tree since I was a baby. For a couple years when I was a teen, we put up a real tree on our front porch (while the artificial tree stayed in the living room). The real tree was too much of a hassle and we haven't done it again since then. Here at my apartment, I have a little 2 foot tall artificial tree of the flashing, multi-color fiber optics variety.
  8. You should have picked a year later for the Lincoln...I'm not really a fan of the 1960 Lincoln. 1961 on the other hand..
  9. Yep! It's my small showing of support (and it was a neat picture).
  10. LEED is becoming more about marketing and less about actually being energy efficient. You can't open an arch magazine (or even read a god damn email anymore) without LEED being thrown in your face. I'm planning on getting LEED certified, but the new LEED certification guidelines that go into effect in September are BS; basically you take two tests and have to pay $50 every year and keep taking continuing education units (which I believe also cost $) to maintain your LEED status. It's all about the money now. Smart cars really aren't that great...I don't get why people idolize them so much. They actually get pretty poor mileage for their size. You compromise a lot when you buy one. I think people see them as being teeny tiny microcars and automatically assume they get 65 mpg....try half that.
  11. Here's the illustration to go along with it
  12. Today, six were laid off from our firm of about 65 people. Nobody saw it coming and we were all in shock for most of the day. Our work load has been pretty full lately but six months down the road we will start slowing down very quickly since no new projects are coming in...schools, universities, and businesses are putting everything on hold. If things continue to worsen, we may have a second round of lay offs and that's what makes me nervous, because I'm young and still don't have much experience yet. The partners talked to us today in a conference and said that the lay offs are a precaution to ensure we will be profitable in 2009, even though our work load is pretty heavy right now. We'll also be cutting back on company expenses, bonuses, and may have to resort to mandatory pay cuts six months from now. What a day.
  13. The hypocrisy of this whole Congressional circus is infuriating. I think we should make CONGRESS work for $1 a year until they fix this broken economy! It was them that got us into this mess by turning a cheek toward the shenanigans in the finance industry!
  14. Christmas Vacation...I love the squirrel scene.
  15. For Whom the Bell Tolls - Metallica, Moline 2008 (concert I was at...pretty decent quality vid) 1979 Camaro scene from Fast Times at Ridgemont High 1987 Monte Carlo promotional video Omaha Police high-speed pursuit that happened about a year ago Surveillance video from a bank in Parkersburg, IA that was hit by an F5 tornado in 2008 Crackhead gets taken out by a cop (funny)
  16. Horray, Pontiac lives! Here's to hoping GM will finally revive them with the right product when things are more stable. I am also pleasantly surprised to see Rick taking the $1 thing; I don't know why, but I wasn't expecting him to do it for some reason. These symbolic moves are what the Big Three need to do to win back public support.
  17. This is an epic movie...one of the best filmed movies of this decade. The end gives me chills every time. Collateral
  18. I've always wondered what the JOBs bank was and finally looked it up. Paying people to full wages and benefits to sit around and not work...it's almost unreal this has not been eliminated yet. Although I'm sure th UAW has a chokehold on the automakers to keep it in place. Absolutely ridiculous.
  19. I wish you worked at the McDonald's here on Edgewood Rd. Last time I was there, I got a quarter pounder meal and ended up sick the rest of the night. Usually McDonald's food sits fine with me, so I must have had a bad burger.
  20. Instead of a caravan, we get a website. http://www.theengineofdemocracy.com/ http://www.wwj.com/Website-Set-Up-To-Show-...r-Big-3/3405364 I don't know about you guys, but I'm personally kind of disappointed.
  21. Wow! Almost makes me wish someone would put up a loudspeaker and point it directly at the Hill.
  22. GM would have never had this problem of having overlap if they had actually made good on their word for no more rebadges. Pontiac could have been a great brand with two or three top notch products, but instead we got a bunch of rebadges and vehicles that didn't fit with the Pontiac image at all. And they still don't get it now that Pontiac is getting a G3. You don't get volume by producing a bunch of half-assed cars that nobody wants. Imagine if only Buick and Chevrolet or GMC had only received Lambdas, only Pontiac received the Solstice, only Chevrolet received the Cobalt...think of all the extra money GM would have had to put toward some really kick ass product. Now GM is left with a ton of dated vehicles to update and nobody's buying!
  23. Watch it, they might send you to Git'mo!
  24. I just got over a cold this weekend and feel great now. About a week and a half ago when the cold was beginning, I started getting a fever and chills right after work. So I drank 5 bottles of water, put a coat on, and turned the heat up to about 85, and after only a couple hours I was starting to sweat the fever out and my temperature was returning back to normal.
  25. No kidding, hyperv6 was talking about it days before. This isn't the first time I've noticed the media pick up on something that was said here and take all the credit. Assholes.
