  1. I'm not sure, but I think this is just for Australia http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleD...f=2&IsPgd=0
  2. That's just low...limiting your child's chance at being successful down the road because you want to prove a stupid point. People like this are too irresponsible to be parents, no matter how they try to spin it.
  3. Yep, I live in Cedar Rapids...Harlan, Iowa is my hometown. The two GM dealers were Olesen Motors (Chev/Cad/GMC) and Miller Motors (BOP). Now it's just Olesen; they sold the Miller Motors building but kept the lot across the street, and a hot rod shop has set up in the Miller building (they have a beautiful '87 Monte Carlo SS sitting in the showroom window). Keast Ford is the one that bought out Olesen.

I had to look it up, but you're right! I never really noticed that before.
  5. Not if you're my dad...while the rest of us are digging in, he's sitting there neatly opening the wrapping paper making sure not to rip it. He always jokes about saving the paper for next year, yet it all ends up in the recycling bin.

Here's some pics of me over the last few months Tailgating at one of the few games Iowa State won this year (I'm the one on the right) Rooftop party for work This whole photo is one big inside joke Weekend trip to Chicago This was my Halloween costume...mafia style 80s night thing at the bars Singing karaoke to Poison
  7. We used to have two GM dealerships about a block apart in my hometown of about 5,000. One was a Buick-Pontiac-Olds dealership and the other was a Chevy-Cadillac-GMC. Sometime in the late 90s the CCG dealer bought the BOP, and now the guy that owns our Ford-Lincoln-Mercury dealership has bought the GM dealership. So the GM dealership will be moving from a small downtown lot to a big lot with a new building out on the highway (right next to the Ford dealership). And across the highway is the Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealer. At least, this is what was said a year ago. No earth has been moved, so I'm guessing that they are holding off until things stabilize in the car market.
  8. Gift bags FTW (as long as you can fit the gift in there).
  9. Well, I know some of the riced-out stuff from Japan is pretty bad, but apparently this car was designed by a Ukrainian car company. So maybe it deserves the title of worst production car. Even Chinese cars aren't this bad. By the way, who's brilliant idea was it to put candles so close to the headliner?
  10. It's not. Lexus took steps backward with this refresh. They muddied up the exterior, and someone had too much fun with a French curve on the interior.
  11. This abomination is of Ukranian origin. http://www.englishrussia.com/?p=1854
  12. It's hilarious that Toyota sticks its shifter up on the center console like they do in the Sienna. If I'm buying a luxury crossover, I don't want a dainty little shifter in the same spot as a $28,000 minivan.
  13. Romney's an idiot.
  14. I was driving on I-80 a few weeks ago and was nearly run off the road by some teenage chick that was texting on her cell phone and unable to stay in her lane. I'm all for this. There is no reason to be texting at all while your vehicle is in motion. I don't necessarily mind talking on the phone while driving, but there are some that simply can't drive and talk at the same time.
  15. Canada has already approved $3.5 Billion right away. Pretty sad that our own country doesn't do jack, yet a country that has 10x less population is willing to lend a hand. The last hope now is Bush & TARP. If that doesn't go through, the landscape is going to change drastically around here.
  16. The Republican senators that voted against it should be ashamed of themselves. Congress has been reduced to a circus. The slippery slope just got steeper due to these idiots.
  17. It's practically Siberia here.
  18. Don't care much for.. Non-stop texting. When you're checking your phone every three minutes to see if you got a new text and nothing is there, it's time to power down...
  19. Yeah, I broke my ice scraper trying to get that stuff off today and both doors were frozen shut. It took about 10 minutes just to get into my car and another 15 to get enough ice off so I could drive.
  20. I'm driving to Appleton, Wisconsin tomorrow for a grand opening of one of our buildings. Apparently they got 14 inches of snow today, but luckily the rental I'll be driving is a TrailBlazer with 4WD.
  21. Wow, that was weird. I was expecting some sadistic ending to the first one, like all the happy foods end up dissolving in stomach acid.
  22. One part that irked me about the interview was the lady from the bolt plant that complained the CEOs were making hand over fist in money and acted like all you had to do was cut their salaries and GM would be fixed. The $16 million or whatever it is that Wagoner has made is loose change compared to the legacy and restructuring costs. People are so ignorant; it's all about finding a scapegoat instead of looking at the actual problem. Also, I saw the clips of Senator Shelby speaking at the hearing for the first time...that guy is such an ass. He's no better than the lady at the bolt plant when it comes to trying to understand why GM is bleeding so bad.
  23. Yeah, there's a guy at work who has an '07 Sonata and the interior is just trashed. I rode in it with him and some others to lunch one day and there were stains and spills all over the seats, dirt on the handles, all kinds of crap on the floor. It looked like he had been carrying potted plants in the backseat and never bothered to clean up the dirt afterward. I don't get how someone can be so apathetic about something they spent $20 grand to buy.
  24. I was once going down a hill in a residential neighborhood near home. The road curved gently and was a solid sheet of ice. I tried taking it about 10 mph, but a couple seconds later I was sliding at an angle and headed toward a snow bank. I ended up hitting the bank of snow, now practically sliding sideways down the hill and came to rest in the middle of an intersection (luckily there was no traffic). If it wasn't for that bank of snow, I would have hit a couple mailboxes or a street light. My car escaped damage free.
