  1. How ironic, I just read about this tonight in an issue of Hot Rod while I was waiting for my haircut.
  2. Anthrax is a great band, but they never quite hit it big like Metallica or Megadeth. I think their more humorous take on metal ("I'm the Man" etc) didn't connect as well with the metal community. They also started out a little more commercial than Metallica and Megadeth, but then moved underground as Metallica and Megadeth began to take off. Their first album is my favorite and the most raw Anthrax release, but they were pretty consistent musically throughout their career (State of Euphoria is probably their weakest effort, IMO). Testament is one that I like to include in a "Big Five" of thrash...a very higly underrated band. Same with Metal Church. Neither band took off, unfortunately.
  3. I learned that spicy chicken tortilla soup isn't exactly a good lunchtime meal if you have a long afternoon ahead of you.
  4. For the unshaven, tie-dye wearing, rastafarian type?

    Pictures!

    Is that sky photoshopped?
  6. Marion Tire Co. in Marion, IA. This was right after the flood had closed off downtown, so I-380 was the only way to get across the flood zone since it is an elevated expressway. Of course, traffic was bumper-to-bumper since it was the only bridge in the city still open. I was getting ready to get on the onramp to head northbound from US 30 when I noticed my car was overheating. Traffic was at a standstill on the onramp, so I merged out and kept going on Highway 30, limping over to Hwy. 151 and stopping at the first service station I found in the suburb of Marion. I had no appointment and they were busy, but they managed to squeeze me in after about a 20 minute wait. Vehicle was repaired after about 30 minutes (gasket leak near the coolant tank). Staff was courteous and they were pretty quick.
  7. Duke Nukem 3D, the Abyss level!
  8. This isn't a rip, but I love M-bodies, especially the coupes.
  9. Win Fail
  10. Ooooh...don't forget the RICH CORINTHIAN LEATHER
  11. Yeah, even more rare is the Eagle Premier. Or any Eagle from the 80s besides the AMC Eagle.
  12. The red-headed step-child that nobody loved
  13. Poop gives you gas on a regular basis, Toyota only gives you gas when you buy a new one. +1 poop
  14. I learned long ago to move on, especially if you've found happiness elsewhere. It's their loss if they didn't see a good thing when they had it.
  15. Gran Torino was one of the best movies I have seen in years. I highly recommend it. It's so good that even five weeks after the original release, the theater was still sold out.
  16. Same exact complaint I've had about this car. It seems automakers are getting way too beltline-happy these days. The CTS sedan looks great...this just looks overexaggerated and kinda odd.
  17. I don't really understand the whole Saturn spin-off. I also don't get the Pontiac division comment...it's a brand, not a division. Do they mean not having a full-lineup? If so, that's perfectly fine by me.
  18. I like this plan. Let's hope GM is able to follow though with it. With Saturn and Saab gone, I'm still curious what will be done with Pontiac. Youthful & sporty is fine as long as we aren't getting more Chevy rebadges.
  19. I get tired of the radio playing nothing but the same singles over and over. It's great to hear it maybe once a day...but when you hear the same song on your way to work, over the lunch hour, and on your way home, it gets old. I wish more radio stations would actually play obscure songs from albums; usually the obscure songs are better, IMO. Why is it always "You Shook Me" or "Highway to Hell" when a radio station plays AC/DC? Why not something more lesser known off the Fly On the Wall album or Blow Up Your Video? There's some great songs on there, but they never get airplay. The same could be said with dozens of other bands.
  20. Not really at work, but my buddy had nicknames for people we regularly saw at the dining center during college (usually girls) Here's a sampling of what I can remember: Blue Shirt (hot girl that wore a blue shirt the first time we saw her, and the name just stuck) Sixteen and Sixteen's friend (two really hot girls that always sat with each other and didn't quite look old enough to be in college) Angel (self-explanatory, cherubs would sing when she walked in a room) GWEA [Girl Who Eats Alone] (another hot girl that mysteriously always ate by herself Retard pants (no idea how this one started...I wasn't there at the time) Canada (she had a Canadian accent) Dirty Face And some of the not-so-pleasant ones Landstink Thistleseed Pissy McGee Dumbledorf
  21. I was just up there for the grand opening of the new BioLife about a month ago. It seemed like a decent enough town...the main drag through downtown had a lot of neat old buildings.
  22. Well, as far as Europe goes, I've been to Rome, Florence, Venice, Naples, and Athens. As far as Canada goes, Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, and Montreal. That said... (based on what I've been to) 1. New York 2. Rome 3. Florence 4. Athens 5. Vancouver And an honorable mention to the village of San Gimignano, Italy. Extremely beautiful.
  23. Welcome back Camino! Good to see you around these parts again.
  24. Agreed about the kids thing. I don't think I could ever date someone that has kids already. I want kids, but I want them to be my own.
  25. These are some depressing times. Every time I see an older GM on the road (especially an Olds), I'm reminded of how far this company has fallen.
