  1. Pontiac still resonates with my generation. My best friend from high school and his wife both recently purchased new Pontiacs (2008 Grand Prix GT and a 2009 G6). My roomate from college bought a G6 a year ago. While deep down I want to give GM the benefit of the doubt that they are finally "getting it," I know that is just setting myself up for disappointment. GM has let me down enough that I practically expect failure from them. GM, prove me wrong.
  2. I think I'm still on it, but I haven't updated or even looked at my profile since 2004.
  3. My look hasn't changed much from a couple years ago except now I wear more nicer polo or long sleeve shirts instead of mostly t-shirts. During the weekday, it's business casual (dress slacks, button up shirts, black shoes).
  4. I would stick with it unless you feel it is affecting your personal or social life, at least long enough to save up some money if you plan on going to college. I used to work at a meatpacking plant and would get there at 5:30 AM and leave anywhere between 3:30 PM and 6 PM (depending on the order size), so I know the feeling. You come home not wanting to do anything except plop down on the couch. But, if you're in that transitional period before college it's best to make as much as you can so you can cut down on the amount of loans you will need to take out, IMO.
  5. It's really not a bad thing to have a credit card as long as you pay it off as soon as you get the bill at the end of the month. That's what I have done, and it has helped me build up a good credit score. I only use mine for emergencies or major purchases or repairs. ------ My dad helped me file taxes a couple months ago, and my jaw dropped (in a good way) when I found out how much I was getting back.
  6. I'm debt free except for student loans (30K in the hole), and hoping the stock market's rise will help me pay them off in 5 years instead of 10!
  7. Boy, those Lexus GS's sure are porky!
  8. Hyundai has "Oldsmobile Syndrome"...ashamed of the name, so they remove all references and add a silly new logo (what is that, a dove?) and over-emphasize the model name in order to confuse people even more (A car company named Equus?). Never mind that the styling is gimmicky and not warranting of a $50k price tag.
  9. I don't think that my 25 shares I bought at $9 will do a lot of good.
  10. Happy birthday!
  11. Keeping it clean & pristine, or are you looking to spice it up a little?
  12. Early-mid 90s W-bodies equipped with the 3.1L are generally not too troublesome, can rack up high miles, have decent interior space, and really don't look too bad if you get a sportier trim. Insurance is pretty cheap too. My Lumina gets 22-24 mpg on the highway, and about 19 in town. You can find them in good to fair shape for under $1000, and parts for W-bodies are readily available.
  13. The wife of my uncle works for Union Pacific, and they have a team of accident investigators that were willing to help her out in finding the cause of the accident. They were able to track down eyewitnesses that said the woman had been at a local bar for most of the day before the accident (she was unemployed). We are still waiting for the toxicology report, but it sounds like she was drinking and driving. My uncle usually wouldn't have been anywhere near the road he was killed on, but he had recently bought a Buick Rainier from a private seller in Fremont, NE and was driving him home after the man had dropped it off at my uncle's house in Council Bluffs. It was on his way home after dropping off the seller that the accident occurred. Safe to say, there is some anger in my family right now.
  14. I think what bugs me the most about the Terrain are the size of the wheels and wheel wells. If the wheel well openings and wheels were both larger, it would look so much more proportionate. Instead, the profile gives off a Korean / Toyota vibe because they always use tiny wheels that completely butcher the proportions of the rest of the vehicle.
  15. Seeing the GC and Terrain side-by-side, I still can't get over the Terrain's ugliness. Jeep did a nice job with the new Grand Cherokee...it looks really refined.
  16. I saw this headline this morning at Google Finance and about slapped my forehead. The Prius will lose the dorkmobile status to this if it's built, and I can already see the snickers and finger pointing.
  17. BP, Casey's, and Kum & Go are the three I usually stop at. I'll sometimes go to Shell or Phillips 66, but it's not very often. BTW, Casey's has awesome pizza-by-the-slice...they actually make more money on their pizza than anything else, I believe.
  18. Christ, that's ugly. I don't know if this has been said already, but this looks like GMC's "Compass." A bunch of weird lines and awkward surfaces that do not work together at all.
  19. :rotflmao: Reminds me of that lady that paid $50 on eBay for a burnt grilled cheese that looked like Jesus. Some people...
  20. One more VNV Nation (electronic/electropop/industrial...the dude has an awesome voice) http://www.myspace.com/vnvnation
  21. Some of my indie label favorites Bullet (mix of AC/DC and Accept...check out the song "Road King") http://www.myspace.com/bulletsweden Crazy Lixx (melodic hard rock) http://www.myspace.com/crazylixxmusic Hardcore Superstar (more Swedish hard rock) http://www.myspace.com/hcssgbg
  22. Do you have kids? If so, go with the Vibe...much less hassle.
  23. If I had a gun to my head, G5 GT. No real reason other than I'd rather have a coupe, although the new Vibe may be a better built / nicer vehicle. Otherwise, give me a G8 or an old Firebird.
  24. Here's the report from the local news. http://www.ketv.com/news/19059001/detail.html Also, the Lumina I drive right now was formerly his car. He was a GM guy through-and-through...one Chevy and two or three Pontiacs while I was growing up, the most recent being a newer Bonneville.
