What prices am I looking at for a full Zaino system? Or some of the cheaper ones like S100 you mentioned.

Happy birthday Z28! You also share a birthday with Henry Ford I think.

Now that I have a decent car, I've been more attentive to the process of cleaning and waxing. What are some of your favorite brands of wax and protective products that you use? Does anybody do clay bar on their paint? I have heard Turtle Wax Ice is a pretty good cleaning solution that comes close to clay bar as far as shine and removal of contaminants but does it in 1/4 of the time. Since I live in a winter climate, I'm looking for something I can apply this fall that will help protect the paint before the snow starts flying. My paint is in very good condition overall, but the paint of the front bumper is starting to show its age a little.

I went to the CARS website and found this Perhaps some of these cars can at least become donors for others that need it.

Under New Ownership Discussion thread
mustang84 replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Site News and Feedback
Thanks Walt for keeping ownership within the C&G family and being such a long-time supporter of the site. And Drew, I can't think of anyone more qualified to be the new owner. -
Yeah, he probably spends an hour each day copy-pasting the same comment to everyone that joins.

Thanks Knightfan! I get a lot of people asking if it's new because the paint is in such good shape. They did have a SelectShift 5-spd that is supposedly pretty fun, but it's still no manual. ----- I put some new pics up on my cardomain page for anyone who wants to check them out: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3350456. Feel free to add me as a friend if you're on there.

I get McDonald's maybe once every couple weeks and don't mind it. I usually go for the quarter pounder value meal when I do. But lately I've been cutting back on fast food in general because I'm trying to build up my savings again after spending half of it on my car.

Looking at it in profile, I'm reminded that this car has some really wacky proportions. The trunk and hood seem too stubby...both need to be longer. The way the grille wraps up onto the hood makes the car look very tall (and it is). Look at it in that picture next to the Malibu. The grille sits significantly higher up off the ground. The reason the 3/4 shots look so good are because the high beltline is being masked by the angle. What this car gets right is the details and the creases. It has some very athletic looking lines, and a nice grille and lights. The interior is great.

I'm too lazy to scan through all six pages, but this news means that the FWD XTS is dead? If so, thank god. The Cruze-based Buick would be more tempting if it had it's own entirely unique sheet metal, not just different front and rear clips. Sounds like the old GM mentality is still alive and well. Glad to hear about the Insignia though...that will make a nice Regal.

Rally Against GM and Fritz "The Ditz" Henderson
mustang84 replied to Blake Noble's topic in The Lounge
GMI seems like a fanboy site and really nothing more than that. From the few times I've posted there, I feel like a good portion of the member base would be 100% behind GM even if they were building glorified 80 hp golf carts. The level of discussion and critical thinking at C&G is head and shoulders above GMI. -
Agreed. I don't think Fritz is going to turn GM into that company that most of us want to see happen.
-
I'd go G8. A little more practical and will be a collector's item someday.

The Lincoln hit 80K a couple weeks ago on my way to work. The Lumina is still at 151K, sitting in a garage at my parents'. I'll have to fire it up and take it for a drive the next time I'm home.

Good so far, but the Tim Allen bit was off. According to him, in the late 70s and early 80s GM cars became bigger with more chrome. Of course, we all know GM began downsizing in '77 and the amount of chrome adorning them was far less than in the 50's and 60's.

This article put a big smile across my face.

I was in Montana, Alberta, and Wyoming for a week over the 4th holiday. We were in Great Falls, MT on the 4th so I got to experience the festivities there. It's quite the trip going from a state like Iowa where the most you can have for fireworks are sparklers and snakes, to a state like Montana where every 4th house is shooting off roman candles, black cats, and M-80s. People were even shooting them off in parking lots at strip malls and banks.

My LS comes with a readout for the instant fuel economy average, so I've been keeping track to see how I'm doing on fuel consumption. On two cross-state trips with the AC running and an average speed of about 78 MPH, I have gotten 26.2 and 27.5 mpg (higher mileage coming back because I live at a lower elevation than my hometown). In the city, I'm consistently getting between 18 and 20 mpg depending on how often I goose it from a stop. But if I go to fueleconomy.gov, it says my car should be getting 15/22 under the 2008 revisions and 17/24 under the old. It makes me wonder how accurate the revised EPA fuel economy standards are. Even if I drive like a bat out of hell, I can still get at least 16.5 out of the LS in the city, and getting 22 on the highway doesn't seem possible unless I'm running near triple digits for speed.

This is complete and utter bull. Three of my friends bought Pontiacs recently, two G6's and a new Grand Prix. All of them are between 24 and 26 years old. Every day on my commute to work I pass dozens of late model Pontiacs, especially G6's and Grand Prixs...all driven by a younger crowd. The Pontiac brand still resonated in the Midwest and Canada, but GM simply gave up on its third best-selling nameplate. Maybe it didn't make as much money as GMC or Chevy, but they had young customers within the GM fold who will now probably shop elsewhere because once again GM petered out and abandoned another segment of its lineup.

Is ICQ still around? That was the first messenger service I used, way back in '97. Pretty much everybody used it back then. Then AOL and MSN came out with newer versions with better features and suddenly ICQ was the red-headed stepchild of the instant messengers. But the great thing about ICQ was that random people from around the world could easily message you.

MSN Messenger is so 1998.

A kind of funny story related to fear of bridges, but years ago we went to Colorado for a family vacation and took our dog Wizard with. He went with us to a park in downtown Denver, to the top of Pikes Peak, walking through Garden of the Gods...all over the place. One of our last tops was the Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City. We put him on his leash and he got out and was all excited to go for a walk until we got the bridge. He walked out onto it about 10 steps and then looked through the cracks to the canyon below and wouldn't budge. We tried to show him that it was ok by walking further ahead and waving our arms to come, but he wouldn't move an inch. Finally, my dad picked him up and had to carry him all the way across the bridge (he was a medium sized dog, about 35 lbs). I imagine that bridge is probably the worst thing in the world for gephyrophobiacs!
