Miller Lite's pretty bad, but Keystone Light and Natty Light are even worse, IMO...

Random spasm of thought, but Monterey is such a cool name for a car. Why did Ford put it on a minivan??

$3.08 at the BP here...the cheapest station in town. I filled up the day Katrina was whomping New Orleans, back when gas prices were still $2.59.

Here's a quick Photoshop I did of a different strip of chrome for the rear...the current bar seems too tacked on. I think this would give the rear some better flow and give it a much more upscale appearance.

I actually didn't mind the '00-'05 Monte Carlo as much. I even genuinely like the bowtie lights and vertical taillights. The only part I don't really like are the character lines on the side....they need to be made into actual creases in the body to avoid a cartoony look. The '06 Monte is growing a little on me, especially in the pic below, but here's what would make it even better: -MC crest...an absolute must -More aggressive headlights...right now they are too big and too generic -Larger grille...sharing a grille with the Impala is a no-no...I thought the last Lumicarlo would be the end of that -Get some new rims...the SS rims seem too flat

It just goes to show you that racism still exists in this country, even in the media.

I can't imagine how people who have lived through this experience with be emotionally after it is all over. Here's a disturbing scene that is probably multiplied in thousands of places around New Orleans.

Baton Rouge has doubled in population to 800,000 people over the past day or so. They're saying that lawlessness is spreading to there and other small cities in Louisiana. Apparently as soon as the refugees arrived, they began breaking into homes and convience stores, stealing cars, etc. Now Baton Rouge has patrols going 24 hours a day and has told gas stations to stop selling gas after 10 PM. Since their public services were only meant to cover half the population, it's a mess down there. I feel bad for the refugees that are just trying to survive, but the dipshits that are stealing electronics and cars and sniping at rescue helicopters to take advantage of a disasterous situation are just stupid and don't deserve to be saved. I have a feeling that the population shift in Louisiana will be permanant...Baton Rouge will probably now be the state's largest city.

The C-pillar appears to have that same Nissan dog-leg look. :( The '07 Sebring will have the same thing. Hopefully the camo is just playing tricks on my eyes.

Bought a couple new Johnny Lightnings today
mustang84 replied to mustang84's topic in Merchandise Lookout
The black Cutlass is actually an '83 Hurst/Olds Cutlass...I was so happy to find that one because it's one of my favorite cars. One thing I noticed about it though is that the rear deck is too short...it should be like a foot longer on the model scale. But the detail on it is amazing...they even have the Hurst/Olds print on the door and the Radial T/A lettering on the tires. If you have a Hobby Lobby around your area, you should check them out...they always seem to have a decent sized collection of Johnny Lightning cars. -
Today, I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up: 1976 Cutlass Salon (gold with white vinyl top) 1970 Chevelle SS (sea green with black racing stripes) I also saw a 1993 Mustang Cobra that I really wanted, but the die was really crappily done. The wheel wells were too big and the detail was lacking. My current die-cast garage:

It's an extreme tragedy. One of the guys on my floor hasn't been able to get in contact with some of his friends from down there. Gas prices pale in comparison to the destruction in Louisiana and Mississippi. They're saying that bacteria from the deceased and flooded cemeteries may spawn illness outbreaks. 80% of the city is under water and most major bridges and freeways have been destroyed. The smell of the deceased is wafting throughout the city and people are literally starving in stuffy attics and on rooftops. Many are predicting this will be the worst natural disaster the US has ever faced. And echoing on Flybrian's comment, has any other country offered to help us or even sent us their condolences? I haven't heard of anything. When they are suffering, we are the first ones to lend a hand...but when the roles are reversed, they are nowhere to be found. It makes me sick.

Obviously Olds. 100 years of innovation gone...

1 - very well done 2 - great job, Roadmaster would have been a fitting name

I love those first gens too! My dad had a '73 Firbird back in high school. The grille on that '69 that Harley posted is a classic...that is one of my favorite Firebirds. I also like the '79-'81 ones with the square headlights, third gens, and fourth gen Formulas.

Also, Thunderbird S/C won Motor Trend Car of the Year
-
I'm definately not resubscribing for C&D when the time comes...Honda automatically wins everything because "after all, it's a Honda." Motor Trend and Motor Trend Classic, here I come!

None other than the '84 Corvette

I was born in the year that Van Halen released their biggest selling CD, Bruce Springsteen sung about being "Born in the U.S.A.", and The Terminator I was released. Ford debuted a turbo 4-cylinder Mustang called the SVO. There was also a novel written about this year.

Today I was eating at the dining center with a couple girls and somehow we got on the subject of what cars we drove. One of them said she used to have a Corolla but her parents recently bought her a Chevy Malibu. I assumed it was a '97-'03, but she said it was a 2004 so I thought that was kinda interesting. Then, as we were leaving, I overheard some guy say "No, I don't have the Civic anymore...I have a Cobalt now." I've also seen a ton of G6's around campus. Could GM be attracting a new generation of car buyers?

Here's some funny ones Edit: I can't link them :(

I think there will still be a market for RWD V8 cars even into the future. Like NOS said, we will combat it with technology. I do think in the near future that cars will stop growing in size and possibly shrink a little as gas prices continue to rise like downsizing that happened around 1977/78. What kills me about the whole gas situation is that there may come a day when it is economically unfeasible to own a 20th century car. I hope to someday drive around in a "classic" G-body Cutlass 442 or Grand National, but if there really is an oil shortage in the future, all the classic muscle around the country will become heaps of metal rusting in fields. You people that grew up in the 70s and 80s are lucky to have been around when the oil crisis wasn't as "real." It's sad, but the traditional American car looks to be going extinct. I hope hydrogen technology improves so we can start producing fuel cell cars, but until then things could get kinda hairy if gas prices continue to rise.

I wouldn't call myself a fan, but Eminem is one of the few modern hip hoppers I don't mind listening to. A lot of it is because his lyrics are a little more down to earth. I do like some old school rap groups like Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash. As for Metallica, IMO, Master of Puppets is the quintessential metal album. The production is absolutely perfect, the songs are varied (both musically and by subject), and there is no filler at all...every song has been amazingly crafted. Many rock critics have called it the greatest metal album of all time. The Black Album was good, but there are a couple songs on there that feel like filler and the songs don't have the same "epic" quality as Puppets. It was also the album where Metallica changed its sound to a more down-tempo, grueling pace. But, there are some hidden gems on that album like "My Friend of Misery" and "The God that Failed."

That Mitsubishi is one ugly looking truck. I'm not a fan of black plastic on any vehicle and the Raider has too much of it. I don't think this will do a whole awful lot for Mitsubishi's sales.
