It was easier to find pics of a Caprice than a 92 Cruiser. Figures. The Custom Cruiser is my favorite too, I wish they had kept it around, at least long enough to get the LT1. Roadmaster profile, note the curved trim behind the rear door going up the quarter glass? That's what was on the 91 Cruisers. Caprice wagon profile, best profile I could find quickly. Note how there is no trim behind the rear door. This is what was used on the 92 Olds. Olds retained the Vista glass both years. Croc, good point on the start of the Fleetwood in 93. Dropping the Olds might have been due to the extra capacity needed. Not sure though. However during 91-93, b-bodies were made both in Arlington, TX and Willow Run, MI. I have the production numbers for the wagons somewhere. IIRC there were over 8,000 91 Cruisers made but less than 5,000 92's. 92's are becoming somewhat scarce. I've seen a lot of them head to the crusher recently with lots of good parts left. :( I've got a smashed up one that I'm stripping now. Probably more than you wanted to know but oh well. :)

Kinda sorta yeah. Both the 91 and 92 Olds were really Roadmasters. Both had the vista glass roof, the Caprice did not. 91's had the Roadmaster c pillar while the 92's had the Caprice c pillar. Thus some of us lovingly refer to it as the Confused Cruiser. The Rocket logo colors also changed from black to red in 92. And gotta agree with Sixty8panther, an Olds b-body sedan might have looked really nice. I've toyed with the idea of turning a Caprice sedan into an Olds something or other. *sigh*

Dang! Beat me to it. :) Someday mine will look that nice.....

Cool. But did it come with Dynaride suspension?

Attention all Turkeys! This is a HOAX, one of many you will find floating about the Internet. Please disregard this and continue with your normals lives. Everything is fine.

Here ya go. Oil changes are determined by the car's computer unless you continue the standard 3mos/3k miles. Only things listed are tire rotations, air filter inspections/replacements and if you do "heavy duty" driving one trans filter/fluid change. Thanks for all the info guys. I didn't realize it was around until '97. I miss having a convertible and since a new Sky is out of my price range I've been thinking about looking for a last-year Cutlass convertible. Always loved that built in roll bar. :) I totally agree! I remember my Grandmother's '76 (or was it a '78) Cutlass Supreme, great car!

You're right, compared to the LS* engines the aftermarket for the LT1 is small. But think about it, the LT1 was only made for four years (94-97?) and was really a transitional engine until the LS1 came out. That said, there are plenty of aftermarket parts for the LT1's. The LT4 conversion is a popular one as well. Find some who have done the LS1 swap, there aren't many for a reason. The payoff is just not worth it considering what you can do with the LT1 for the same money.

Okay guys, I KNOW one of you out there has some history on this car. One of my favorites, especially the convertibles. Here's what I (think I) know: '89 - 2.8V6 changed to 3.1 mid year. first year for electronic four speed? '95 - last model year When did they dump the horrible digital dash (my '89 lemon had it)? Was '95 the last year for the convertible too or was it '94? What engines were in the last models? 3.4 twin-dual cam? Pics are always appreciated! :)

 Yes! Get that one all the time! My answer: Yes, the whole Internet is down. We also have a light switch on our wall labeled "Internet". We keep it in the 'off' position.

Most V8's, not just LT1's have most torque in the low to mid range. That's why they pull away from so many cars. Nice thing is with a four speed trans, or better yet a six speed they pull forever. With their gear ratios it takes a loooong time to get them to the higher rpm bands. I've not had issues with the suspension in the SS until you get him around 90. But there are tons of aftermarket parts to tweak the suspensions to whatever your pleasure. It's amazing and hard to believe but with the right suspension mods, and I'm not talking exotic, these monsters are great on the roadcourse and autocross. Oh, and chris, you mentioned loud exhaust? Opening up the exhausts on these cars is considered a basic and huge payoff mod. Probably the difference between the car's you've been up against. Unfortunately, mine is still stock. :( Getting a little off topic... :)

There are tons of Net resources on these cars. Here are a couple: http://www.impalassforum.com http://www.9c1.net Edit, wrong URL, oops. Lots of others too. Check 'em out. Prices have (unfortunately) recently started to drop on the SS's. However, if money is a concern, I'd suggest looking into a 9C1 used law enforcement car. They can be easily made to look like an SS and, usually have all the performance goodies of the 'real' SS cars. I think one or two have put LS* engines in the b-bodies but it's a TON of work for relatively little payout. LT1's have a lot of potential. And as to chris's statment. I just have to think those guys didn't know how to drive. My SS is close to stock and does low 15's and high 14's depending on the weather in the quarter mile. They're faster than a four thousand pound sedan should be. :) Heck my wagons weigh in around 5K pounds and are still relatively quick. Good luck on your search! Mike

Weird. But I'll bet it holds up better in an earthquake than the real thing. :)

I thought they were going to ramp up Solstice output before adding the Sky's to the mix.

Ditto...and I don't like small cars. B)

Interesting thoughts. Might have worked had it been executed correctly. At the very least saved Saturn from a very small and lame-ish lineup. Didn't Olds try the no haggle pricing too? Might have blended nicely to Saturn that way as well. I always thought that the Alero would make a great entry level Buick. But then I thought Buick really didn't/doesn't need a compact car so maybe not. I miss Olds....

Um, wow. Those are some pretty big statements. Can't wait 'till we can see some photos of this!

 Wow! That looks showroom! Nice find! Can't help on the production numbers though, sorry. -
I didn't single out the automotive media. I said media, generally and I stand by my comments. Look at Consumer Reports for instance. Any new Honduh, TOYota, etc is automatically given favorable ratings and vice versa with Domestics. I cancelled my membership with them years ago because of this. Perhaps thats "just" bias but it's still automatically negative towards the Domestics. Of course the product is what matters. But the general buying public IS uninformed and happily so. I never suggested they were stupid. They DO believe what they read/see without verifying the story themselves. And what they read/see says that imports are better than Domestics. Only GM can change this with better PR and marketing. Case in point. The Honduh Element is a good seller, the Ponitac Aztec failed miserably. Both are/were hideously ugly. Why is one selling better than the other? It's not the product thats for sure! Of course I'm simplifying here but you get the idea.

I'm going to have to agree with this article in general. Yes, the media is largely anti-American and thus anti-American businesses. BUT, a good marketing campaign (not a week long ad either) can overcome this. You don't see Diamler-Chrysler using it's new foreign owned status to sell cars do you? I've said similar in other posts here. TOYota and Honduh sell lots of cars. And contrary to the media blather, it's NOT because they make superior products. IT'S BECAUSE THEY MARKET IT WELL. They shmooze up with all of the media folks. I'll be the first to tell you, I HATE marketing. Unfortunately the consumer market (mostly lemmings) believe what the media tells them. Thus marketing is AS IMPORTANT as making a superior and 'gotta have' product. I sincerely hope GM is waking up to this. If not, they'll be the next American Motors Corporation. :( BTW: :CG_all: ! I like the bowties! Very nice. Did you make a sticker of sorts for the hubcaps or something else? Did you know that there is a vendor on the SS Forums making custom headlights for the B-body? They're going into production soon. Very nice. Not cheap though. Here: http://impalassforum.com/noncgi/ultimatebb...18;t=001197;p=1 It's a long read but gonna be a great product! I wasn't aware of the body mounts issue with 9C1 vs SS. Interesting. So yours has more mount points? Hmmmm.
