Classic.
  2. Since Toyota made sure that the Tundra would not be eligible for 2007, there was no way the Silverado wouldn't win. What, to the Sport Trac?
  3. It's legit, here's the GM PRess: DETROIT, Mich. – Chevrolet today released an advance image of the exterior of the all-new 2008 Malibu, which will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January and will arrive at Chevrolet dealerships later in 2007. The photo was released in conjunction with the announcement of a $208 million investment in the Fairfax, Kansas Assembly plant to prepare for production of the car. The image reveals a partial shot of the front of the car featuring a dual-port grille, which is described as representing the “new face of Chevrolet.” “The 2008 Malibu design is expressive and brings new proportions and a fresh perspective to the mid-size market,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet General Manager. “The new Malibu boasts a poised, wheels-at-the-corners stance with a longer hood and shorter deck appearance that conveys motion, agility and attitude.” Chevrolet previously released a sneak peek of one of the car’s available two-tone interiors, which demonstrates a much more upscale look and feel with more premium materials and a new level of refinement in the extremely competitive mid-size car segment. http://media.gm.com/servlet/GatewayServlet...=74&docid=31356
  4. My Z28 convertible that I just sold was in the Police News in the local paper. Seems the kid I sold it to was selling pot out of it in the Krausers parking lot. It is currently impounded at the local police station. I led my poor baby into a life of crime. sob.
  5. Illegals. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6626823 What a surprise. Fining companies and putting CEOs that knowingly look the other way (or implicit in their hiring) when hiring illegal immigrants is what will stop the flow. NOT building a fence around the US. Show me a 8 foot fence, and I'll show you a 10 foot ladder.
  6. CNN is usually never that blunt. And why does that count as "Breaking News"?
  7. Well, I did it (just like on my Z28) more to allow the car to breathe better than to boast a HP increase. After taking a look at the restrictive and crazy systems that automakers put in their cars, the first thing I like to do is allow the engine to breathe. Figure a CAI can add 5-10 hp maybe. As far as gas mileage, I have no idea, since that is not the desired effect of the change. I'll keep an eye on the DIC for the next few weeks and let you know if I see a change.
  8. To be honest, I took it for a ride and got into it a little and really did not notice much of a sound change at all, which, to be perfectly honest, is fine by me.
  9. Added a full cold air intake from the TB to the MAS and a K&N cone filter. It was designed for a G6, but with a few cuts and bracket changes, it now fits in the Malibu. Started at 7:30 this morning and finished with all cleanup at about 11:00. And here is all the crap I gutted from the 'Bu including the crazy air box regulator which has two bladders that I guess is supposed to kill noise from the air...
  10. If I had 35 grand to blow, I'd find a nice 2005/2006 SSR with a 6-speed. Pref red or black.
  11. Just watch this really quick video: http://www.boardsmag.com/screeningroom/commercials/3421/ My wife is a makeup artist - so when someone comes up to her and says "make me look like that" she'll need a computer to do it. I always knew they used photoshop to clean up the imperfections and the "cottage cheese" thighs, but this is crazy.
  12. I betcha his beard tickles... hehehe
  13. Hey BV! Dude I'm bored. Wanna hang "out" tonight?
  14. Oh, and I wanted to break this down, since much of what you point out is new to this country: Physically placing ones hand on a Bible and swearing an oath is not required nor was it ever legally enforceable. The court gives those giving testimony the option of "swearing an oath" or making an affirmation to tell the truth as to the best of their knowledge. In 1954, Congress after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus, added the words, 'under God,' to the Pledge. The Pledge was now both a patriotic oath and a public prayer IN GOD WE TRUST first appeared on the 1864 two-cent coin. Paper currency was first issued with "In God We Trust" as required by Congress in 1955. The inscription appears on all currency Series 1963 and beyond.
  15. I think I just read that Razor only wants White Anglo Saxon that believe in his god to run the government. That's the most bigoted thing I've read. I think you need to go back to Fox news and get more talking points. And just a fun fact: Saying in Allah We Trust is the same EXACT thing as saying God. Just another word for it. Thought I'd let you know. Only the people that fear YOUR God should be heard. That's not the country my family risked their lives to protect. Maybe you need to move to somewhere else that is more restricted in letting religion run the country. I have some suggestions: Iran, Afghanistan or maybe just join Al Qaeda - I hear they are very strict with only letting people that believe their religion join. Believe me when I say that region is what is killing the human race. It is the cause of most, if not all, wars. It causes rational people to become irrational. It stops scientific progress. It shuns the natural truth for a work of fiction. It breeds hate and intolerance for people that are "different" than yourselves. You don't need fear of an invisible old man that floats in the sky to have morals and be kind to those around you and help those who are less fortunate than you. When was the last time the "Wear Religion on your Sleeve" party (Republicans) did something for the poor, or hell, the middle class? Isn't that what Jesus taught? I believe in Freedom - I think you can worship anything you want, God, Jesus, a tin can. But don't force it on me, don't force me or my kids to pray, or swear on a bible. Believe me, as evil as I think religion can be, I believe in freedom of religion and would never stop anyone from having "faith". That's the difference between you and me.
  16. And being Atheist, I believe you should not have to swear on a bible at all. I doubt a politician has EVER tried that recently. Freedom of religion also means freedom FROM religion. There should be NO controversy about this, but asshole of CNN Glenn Beck asked the representative-elect, "prove to me you are not working with the terrorists." This country will never leave the stone-age with bigots like that on TV.

    FART

I made sure to watch the last race of the year from Homestead, since it was the last NASCAR race I'll ever watch. It has been going down hill for the past 5 years (and I almost retch when I see a Solara "pacing" the field) but I have been pulled in each year for the hell of it. I will not next year. I have better things to do on Sundays than to watch Toyota drive around in circles. Beware: the red bowtie Oooh! Here comes Toyota:
  18. ttp://e.ccialerts.com/a/hBFacz$AG-rD9AbQXcDAHyjC5Vl/and25 Toyota hybrid exec David Hermance dies in plane crash Mark Rechtin LOS ANGELES -- David Hermance, Toyota's executive engineer for advanced technology vehicles, died Saturday, Nov. 25, when the airplane he was piloting crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Hermance, 59, was Toyota's top American executive for alternative-fuel vehicles and emissions technologies in North America. He was also an avid pilot who enjoyed aerobatics competition. According to eyewitness and police reports, Hermance's plane was performing a series of loops in airspace over the ocean near San Pedro, Calif., reserved for aerobatic stunts. Witnesses said the engine revved hard during a descent but the plane did not pull up and hit the water. Toyota confirmed a Los Angeles County Fire Department report that it was Hermance's body that was recovered. The fire department spokesman said Hermance died on impact. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the airplane was an Interavia E-3 that took off from the Long Beach Airport with just the pilot on board. This reporter, who heard the crash from his house at about 1:20 p.m., heard the plane's engine revving louder and harsher than typically associated with the descent arc of a loop. A witness told KNBC-TV that he thought he saw a parachute trailing behind the plane, but it was tangled and not deployed. The plane crashed about 400 yards offshore in about 60 feet of water. A civilian boat arrived on the scene within two minutes, and a lifeguard stationed at Western Avenue beach paddled out to the crash site as well. At least four Coast Guard and Los Angeles Fire Department vessels arrived on scene within 15 minutes. Skies were clear, with the occasional light wind gust at sea level. Hermance was a frequent competitor in International Aerobatics Club competitions. The Interavia E-3 is specially designed to perform elaborate stunts at high speeds. Hermance often flew off the San Pedro coast to practice aerobatics maneuvers, which included loops, spirals and stalls. The National Transportation Safety Board was expected to investigate the crash. Hermance joined Toyota in 1991 after a 26-year career at General Motors. At GM, he held jobs in the automaker's vehicle emissions and durability testing departments. Based at the Toyota Technical Center in Gardena, Calif., Hermance's first job for Toyota was evaluating car engines for North America. In 1992, he was put in charge of engine and drivetrain calibrations for North America. Later in his Toyota career, Hermance became the automaker's point man for ongoing alternative fuel discussions with Congress, the media and the California Air Resources Board. According to his biography on Toyota's media Web site, Hermance is survived by his wife, Mary, and two grown children. You may e-mail Mark Rechtin at [email protected]
  19. When I was learning html, flash, etc I created two websites: cheersandgears.com and Ugly Car Monthly. I found the whole site on my D drive this morning and though I'd share. It cracks me up what I wrote for this stuff. Make sure you check out all the years (2000, 01 and 02). I've certainly grown up a bit since then, but I agree with a lot of what I wrote. enjoy, maybe: (oh and put your speakers on for the opening) http://www.jkface.com/uglycarmonthly/index.html
  20. I'm listening to the XM channel called "Special XMAS" which has the "odd" songs that include burping, farting and other wonderful holiday cheer. I like the less traditional songs. Probably one of my favorite is "Christmas in Hollis" by RUN DMC.
  21. There was a Service Merchandise in Keyport/Homdel NJ until about 2003. I bought my one desk there with my wife (then just my girlfriend). That was the last one that I ever knew about.
  22. I felt the same exact way. I started using iTunes for podcasts before I had an iPod and it was so easy, I had to break down and actually buy an iPod (white Nano 4 gig). I looked at others, but couldn't find a reason not to buy an iPod other than "everyone else has one". I'm getting an XBox 360 with Gears of War and Dead Rising. If we run into a Nintendo Wii before the holiday, I'll pick up one of those for myself too. I want a Cold Air Intake for the Malibu MAXX SS, but no one has the one that I want in stock. I hope that there are more performance parts coming for the 3900 soon. It's a dry market out there.
  23. Worked in the now-defunct world of "catalog stores". Anyone old enough to remember BEST or Service Merchandise? These were stores that felt it would be good to just stick one item on the floor for customers to look and then give then a tiny mini-golf pencil and an order form to fill out. Then they had to bring the form to the register, pay for it, and some poor schlub would find it in the warehouse (or not find it and have to tell the customer we don't have it even though they already paid for it) and roll it down the conveyor belt. Well, I worked as customer service for Authur's, a catalog store that I believe only had stores in NJ. I was in the East Brunswick store. The kid I worked with had a 1985 IROC and I had a 1988 IROC. We at least had a good looking parking lot.

    In Bloom

Well, Temple of the Dog was a one-off project that was a mourning exercise for the Seattle scene to deal with the overdose of Andy Wood, lead singer of Mother Love Bone (get that album if you don't have it and like the Seattle sound. Eddie Vedder came together with members of MLB to form Mookie Blaylock, better known as Pearl Jam. Chris Cornell and Eddie traded licks in the most popular TOTD song, Hunger Strike, but the whole album is excellent. And I do have a hankering for some "Jesus Christ Pose". "Your staring at me like I driving the nails"
  25. The Auto Extremist also talked about the lobbying firm that is the IIHS this week. But just like good corporate media should, looking to get any old story out without having to do any homework or, god-forbid, JOURNALISM, this story (with most of the headlines that I read touting that AMERICAN cars were shut out of this BS study) was given a free pass and the good little consumers now believe that the only safe cars are those from Honda. I once again have to salute the assholes! Fffffaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrttttttt!
