  2. I know how you feel for the most part. I may joke around but I do want both of my kids to have a healthy childhood. As for my daughter, I hope I am raising her to make good decisions for herself. And when she starts dating, I pray that she will not do anything too stupid. Anyway, if someone tries to force her to do something she doesn't want then hopefully the martial arts classes I am paying for will help. And if life begins at 40, woohoo. Borger, as I said before, this is something you have to talk seriously over with your wife. The one thing you don't want to do is make a rash decision and then realize later that it might not have been right. I wouldn't have another child unless you were absolutely certain it was right for BOTH of you. How would you feel when you reach 50. Also, as bad as this may sound, there is a slight possibility that you could wind up resenting your child and/or their needs as you approach retirement. I know it sounds bad but I seen it happen to otherwise great parents. And then you feel guilty about that. We can give you all of the advice in the world. But it is up to you and the Mrs. to find what is right for you. Take care and good luck.

I know what you mean, BV. You know, everytime, I think about it, the Fiero option looks better and better. Of course, I would probably look into stuffing a 350 or 383 in it.
  4. The last Toyota that ever caught my interest was the 90s MR2s. I still like them.
  5. I think I developed a BS alarm when I had kids. I can tell when either of my kids is trying to pull a fast one. Hopefully, it works well when my daughter wants to start dating. And PCS, remember there are no bad words, only bad intentions. Holden is not a bad word. In fact, if you say it a few times, a transformation might come over you and you will realize how wrong you are.

I know. Have you seen the list of cars in my sig? I would have thought I would be happy now. I'll keep an eye on the water pump like you suggested. Everything seems tight right now. I am also considering doing a transmission filter and reservicing the tranny. Two reasons; one is that it has 130K miles on it and the other is because of those rough shift while it had the electrical problems. Hmmm.

I really need to quit looking at cars for now. Like that's going to happen.
  9. A new Black Z06. One of the pilots in the flying squadron that we share a building in just got it.
  10. You had me concerned for a moment. I thought we were going to have to send a bruiser crew over to your place to smack some sense into you.

I don't think that they actually drove it bad. They just had no clue on how to do maintenance, unfortunately. And when some kids started hitting it a bat, they just got rid of it. The engine and tranny are both sound. In fact now that the electrical problem is fixed the darn thing runs perfect. The fault for the O2 sensor is still there, though. I am planning on doing an oil change this weekend. I will check the wiring down there while I have the car on jackstands. If the wiring is good I have to decide if it is worth replacing the sensor. A new one is about $75-$80. I would rather have everything working perfectly but don't know if it is worth it. I will say this. I am prefer working on my RWD cars a bunch more. Even in the newer ones, they seem easier to work on.

  13. My plan to deal with any boyfriends who may come over is this: I will be sitting on my front porch wearing bib coveralls with no shirt, cleaning a rifle. As the kid comes up to the porch my son is to come from around the back of the house with a shovel and say, "Pa, we is running out of room back there!" I think neither of us will have shoes on either. I have always loved Bill Engvall's approach as well. Look them in they eyes and tell them how much you love your daughter and then add, "I ain't afraid to go BACK to prison." Daughter's are God's revenge for how we were as kids.
  14. Those are main causes for most of problems, not just accidents.
  15. I'm 40 and I know there's no way I would want to start with another child. I have a 13 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. I will be almost 50 when my daughter graduates high school and almost ready to retire when she should make it through college (if she goes that route.). I know empty nest sydrome kicks in and right now it looks to your wife like another one would be wonderful. Obviously, she has forgotton all of the stress and exhaustion that comes with a new child. But, think about this: when you new one is born, you would be 39. Their graduation from high school arrives when you hit 57. Then as you hope to retire, college costs kick in. I am not saying that you should not have another child. I love my 2 dearly (although they both drive me nuts sometimes) and I am pretty sure you would feel the same about another child. But, the two of you are now at a point in your lives together where you should be able to look at it objectively and talk about it the same way. And that should be what you two do. Talk openly about it. Voice your concerns and thoguhts. Good luck.
  16. That sucks, big time. I am glad to hear that your OK though. And I hope your GF only has minor fleeting pain. Yeah, it should be an open and shut case. The bus driver should be able to state that a bunch of you were on the road waiting to go. I hope you can get a witness. Even if you can't, where the broken pieces of her headlight are should help strengthen your case. It really sucks that people won't have a little patience and respect each other and the rules of the road. Then the lie when it was obviously their fault. At least the guy that caused my accident was man enough to admit he didn't check traffic before turning.

Think either would make it all the way out to Washington State? From what I keep reading, I think I might be safe. I plan on stopping in Spanaway to check out an 87 Fiero GT tomorrow. I would really prefer an 88. I might also consider getting an early 90s MR2. Yeah, I know its from THAT company but those things are a blast to drive.
  18. The band was Blind Faith from the late 60s. The 'airplane' in her hands I believe is a hood ornament but I am not sure which car exactly it is from. Anyway, kind of surpising that a band with Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood would only survive for one album. How close am I??
  19. The saddest part off all of that is that if the different divisions would have used each other to improve instead of each section defeninding their own fiefdom, it would have helped everyone out in the end. But, we see this infighting all the time in business. Everyone tries to defend what they have, not realizing they are hurting themselves and bringing their company down. Heck, we see this in the military too.
  20. I have to agree with Camino on this. Make each brand decide what it is to be and them make then stick within their mission. Just because Buick gets a nice new vehicle doesn't mean every brand needs it. I think that Pontiac has the lines they need in order to become more focused. G6, G8, and Solstice. But allow each model to have variations. Base, GT, GXP is fine for two of those but the G8 has the ability to become so much more. Let G8 have a wagon and coupe, as well as the sedan and ST. That could be a pretty hot lineup in itself. The hard part will be telling the brands to quit whining when someone else has a winner.

Just after Christmas Tammy started telling me that she was concerned about me driving the Vette with the roads getting icy. Since it was winter break, she wasn't using our truck (she works for a school district) so I was driving it to work and back. But, with school starting up again she didn't want me in the Vette on our roads. Too many, nutcases who can't drive is what she SAID she was concerned about. All of our cars were RWD and with 3 of them being show cars and one of them having an engine being rebuilt for drag racing, they were out. I leave for work at 11PM and come home at either 8 or 9 AM so I get 2 chances for icy roads. That left the Vette, our truck, and our 89 Camaro convertible. The vert has a stage 2 shift kit in it until I can get a new 1st - 2nd shift spring and the time to work on it. That means the shift is pretty harsh, and she had concerns about it as well. What's all of the above mean? We decided to pick up something that I wouldn't care if it got hit. Well, I found something at the local Chevy dealership. They had just taken in a 2000 Calvalier Z24 that, as they said, looked like someone hit it with a bat, repeatedly. They wanted $1999 for it and after driving it I was able to list some other problems and get them down to $1150. The Cav is a Z24 like I mentioned with the 2.4L and auto. It has a moonroof, power windows and doors locks, AM/FM Cassette/CD stereo, and AC. It should also have remote door locks but the remote is gone. So when the roads were icy I drove that back and forth to work and on other days Tammy has driven it instead of our truck. I also started digging into the problems it had. Here is the list. Trac Off light always on Rough Shift (it is an auto) Intermittant engine codes for cylinder misfire and O2 sesnor heat circuit Rough idle at times Sound like a knock Fuel gauge, temp guage, and tach losing function Stereo acts like a tape is in Rear window defog inoperative. Well, driving it home one day and those guages dropping off, I turned off the heating and the guages picked back up. I had the battery and alternator tested, both good. That's when I pulled out my multimeter. Found 2 broken wires andrepaired them. Checked resistance across the battery cables(with the battery out of course) and those checked good. Finally I decided to just replace both battery cables and reroute a wire bundle. At the same time I changed out the spark plugs. What did that wind up doing? Fixed everything but the stereo, rear window defogger, and maybe the O2 sensor. That last I haven't seen but am unwilling to call it fixed unless at least a week goes by without it faulting. Now the car drives real well. It still likes like a rolling dent, or as I like to call it "The Urban Assaulted Vehicle." A couple of people have already told Tammy that if sell it, then they want to buy it so, I should get all of the money I put into it back out with no problems. Tammy told me that if we get another winter car it can be my choice. So, naturally, I started thinking about a Fiero GT.
  22. Agreed. Since diesel has less refining steps than gas it should be cheaper. But, lately, I have not been able to figure out which will be cheaper from one day to the next. Of course, when places are raising there prices every day and sometimes 2 or 3 times a day (I have seen it around Tacoma), then all fuel prices are getting out of hand.
  23. Sounds like someone watched History of The World; Pt 1. As for my word: politics
  24. With a names like those how can you NOT love them. :rotflmao:

I was given an 07 and an 08 Corvette brochure by one of the salesmen of the dealership in McKenna (5 miles from my home). He told me to not let anyone see them as I left the dealership as he could get in trouble for it.
