  1. Well, I finally had enough of that noisy Metro. It ran great but after working on a loud flightline all night I wanted a smooth, comfortable, relatively quiet drive. And I wanted something fun to drive. So, Tammy and I decided to look at a couple of different cars and by accident we found my new daily driver. Its a 2000 Fixed Roof Coupe and has the wonderfully fun 6-speed. We paid $19,400 and I was driving to work for about a week. Now the reason I hate that Chevy dealership. The sales manager was a jerk when negotiating. He was actually yelling by the time it was over. We were honest up from with what we could afford and he acted like he thought we had a lot more than we said we did. Then earlier this week (I've only had it a week), I was on my way to work and the SES light comes on and the car has barely any power. I limped it home and called the next morning to talk to them. The guy said, "hey, you bought a used car, what did you expect?" Even though they had a limited 3 month, 3000 mile warranty on it, he didn't even want to accept the responisbility of having it checked out. He then told us to have the car towed up to them (over 100 miles) and he would have it tested but that was it. The tow bill would have been more than the fee for having it tested. My wife finally got him to agree to allow us to take it to a dealership 6 miles from our house and he would cover that and if it was something to do with the powertrain we could discuss it after that. Anyway, the local dealership (Baydo Chevrolet) checks it out and the Throttle Module and Throttle Position Sensor are both bad. Total cost? About $600. The other dealership drew the line and said they would pay $300 of it and then we were on our own after this. The guy told me, "hey, things break and you wouldn't expect me to replace your headlights, woud you?" There's a big difference between consumable items and a major computer item. To draw a bigger difference between these two dealerships, the local guy said that he would try to cut my costs as much as possible, store the Vette inside until it is fixed, and took over most of the dealings with the other place. Bottom line? I can't wait to get my Vette back since it is so fun to drive. With the 6 speed I am getting nearly 30MPG going back and forth to work. The only change I have to make is to replace the Stereo. It has AM/FM/Cassette and I am replacing that with a Pioneer Am/FM/CD plus a 12 disk CD Changer, swapping out all of the speakers, adding an amp to drive a pair of Custom Autosound Subwoofers, and setting it all up to use my MP3 player. Wish me luck.
  2. Here is a pic of Street Stars. And one of them showing how they look on the Camaro I have found a 17" copy of the IROC rims, which is what Tammy wants on her 87 IROC (polished of course).
  3. No, but there are times I just want to say to hell with everything and crawl back under the sheets in bed.
  4. Mountains oh, OK, I haven't seen any of that marketing
  5. Hey, put the 'W' back in that word. It really changes the meaning. :P
  6. OK, I understand. My brother was using spacers on his 73 Camaro to run something on it. I forget what he was playing with at the time. We were going to see if the C5 Z06 that are on my 95 would work and look good but he decided to use something else. I know I mentioned these before, but have you thought about Street Stars? I was going to use Torque Thrusts on my 71 RS Z/28 but was given a set of these and they do look good. I am currently running Cragar S/S on my 71 Skylark.
  7. I wonder if that will affect the Air Force flying people on Delta. Hmmm. As for me, I don't think I'll be on a Delta plane after I saw an Air China plane that was grounded in Germany for flying with ripped and torn engine fan blades.
  8. Umm, ok. That's what you came up for 'fast' (just teasing) Answer for thread. acceleration
  9. Yeah, they always look good. As for the Z06 wheels, too tall? If you are worried about spacing you could use spacers. I was just an idea.
  10. OK, so I am addicted to Boobies, :smilewide: f course, that works well in my marriage. As for people with different tastes, I could care less what they go for. I like people as a whole.
  11. This rims look good on that 'bird but I don't think they would fit into what you are doing Camino. The Torque Thrust are a fav of mine and I have grown to like the street stars as well. If you want something really different, have you checked out the NEW Z06 rims?
  12. I've been seriously considering an early 70s Opel GT as my next drag racing car. Sounds like fun to me.
  13. 'Active vehicle surfaces, such as air dams and louvers that adjust to govern airflow, improving aerodynamics and performance' You must have missed this line in the artivle. And they just gave a few examples. This is a very promising technology.
  14. Its great to see such a volitile series of issues being dicussed so maturely. Gives me lots of hope. Viper, that's the thing about faith. I have it without proof. I am glad you have the chance to believe and live according to your learning and beliefs. As long as we keep that, our country has a chance. NDL, good logic in your arguments. Personally, I have never seen an inherent problem with a combination of both faith and science. Both creationism and evolution are possible and can co-exist. An infinite being could use any medium for creation that was desired. As for Coulter, she only distracts from the real issues at hand. I tend to read and watch to get information from all ends of the spectrum. And while there are grains of useful information and thought to her, they are almost always completely overshadowed by her belligerence. Personally, I am seriously hoping that our next presidential election gives us a much better choice that our last few have. While we won't get a president that everone will love, I want a much better one that we've had in a while. We need another Lincoln, Roosevelt, Reagan, or Kennedy. Maybe not their exact beliefs but someone on one of their levels of commitment and excellence. Take care, all.
  15. Sweet, I love the GTOs. Especially since they dropped the LS2 into them. I wanted to look at one but my wife doesn't like them so it was a no go. Congrats and have fun

  17. At the risk of getting impaled here, I would like to point this out from the article. "It's not an appropriate place to have a mosque or church," said resident For those yelling racism, it seems the residents do not want ANY thing that would add traffic or change their neighborhood. The quote above shows they wouldn't want a church there either. They would probably take action against a chain store trying to move in as well (although that is just an inference made from the concerns the residents voice in the article) Also, how could this be racism? I could understand if people brought up religious intolerance, but Islam is not a race, it is a religion. Members of a Jewish Synagogue would have a similar reaction. We've seen a lot of people trying to keep their neighborhoods small, this is another example of that. That said, I think the KIA showed some pretty poor research when that decided to move in next to a pig farm.
  18. Only if they legalize a LOT of drugs, Oh wow, a special edition blandmobile, which is made special by being extra bland. I mean come on, white?
  19. Another example of "Toyota, moving forward" Or not.

  22. Tell her thanks, I think?!? Actually, the Skylark is pretty much Tammy's. She found it, pushed for it, and drove me insane until I bought it. Still, its a very fun car and I'm glad that we got it.
  23. Yep, I got both of my calendars today as well and both Tammy and I really like them. Good job and thanks!
  24. Good to see that someone was paying attention. Now maybe they'll have to be more open about their testing and how they collect their information. Nahh, they'll probably find some way to whitewash all of this.
  25. Sorry but I was taught that a sports car only has two seats. That would make your Cobalt a sports coupe. OK, so only a difference in semantics. But that makes my Camaros sports coupes as well and not sports cars. As for the Sky and Solstice, they fit the definition of both sports car and roadster. They have two seats and are both convertibles. The Corvette can also be a roadster while it remains a sports car. No matter the label, your Cobalt is definately a fun car to have and that is the most important thing, I would think.
