  1. I agree, and the real question is...is this REALLY a $100K car (I know, including dest) or is the fullfillment of this reoccuring theme that "Cadillac wants a $100,000 car"?. $100K for a Caddy is serious coin...especially if that price is reached by backing into the price of the car simply to hit a lofty price point. I guess as always, the consumers in the market will decide.
  2. Having seen this car at the Detroit show, I think it looks better in person than in pics...and IMO the short wheelbase has better proportions. The interior looks fantastic in person...though we were not able to sit in it. It is what Cadillac should be building...maybe edgier exterior styling...but the interior is what the STS should be.
  3. P.S. The bad thing about the movie is that there are NO hot cars.
  4. Not so sure about that sciguy, it is really a pretty good story overall...I think a lot straight people like it alot (if they are not affriaid to admit that they have seen it). I think hard-core religious types are/will be threatened by it.
  5. I have seen it once and thought it was fantastic...thought it did not have such a dramatic impact on me. It is a great story, very thought provoking, and I also have spent much time thinking about it since seeing it. I do have friends that have seen it a few times, and continue to be moved like you are.
  6. man...way too much caffiene...no wonder I talk so fast... Coffee this AM at home Starbucks after the gym..QUAD Iced Venti Mocha, non fat, no whip Orange Juice..purchased at Starbucks... Starbucks after lunch...QUAD Iced Venti Mocha, non fat, no whip Water. And, damn I spend a lot of coin at Starbucks
  7. Hey everybody, theOC and I are heading to Detroit later this week and will be at the show Thurs, Fri, Sat...anybody else going??
  8. so who has some more jokes....
  9. Ditto...
  10. Yeah right..it must be the GREAT beaches..oh, sorry thats right...SoCal has those.. It must be the FANTASTIC weather...ooops, thats right, SoCal has that too.. Hmm...all the celebrities that's it....oh, damn, they all live in SoCal..I guess NoCal has Sharon Stone and Robin Williams...I guess SoCal wins that too... Must be the Car culture...oopps, no I guess SoCal has that too, unless you count all the base C-classes and base 3-series without so much as wheels or tint that all the techies in Silicon Valley drive. Well, I guess NoCal has a famous bridge, Berkley and an inferiority complex, and if you drive a few hours some nice wine.
  11. 51. All the heterosexual people in the neighborhood are now happy that the gay couple moved into the house next door, re-landscaped, re-modeled and have driven up every home value on the block. Plus, they through a killer house warming party.
  12. 48. You are keenly aware of the difference between SMOG and the MARINE LAYER. 49. EVERY Saturday during the summer has beautiful weather (really, every day period), 75-80 degrees, sun shining, no humidity, but everybody, including the news and radio DJ's are taking about "what a beautiful day it is" and how "gorgeous" the weather is.
  13. What he said, or as I was telling my friend 'theOC", I wish the new S-Class had imipressed me as much as THIS did....wow!!
  14. Grandville...and it should be a RWD sedan.
  15. This weeks Automotive News has a picture of the Caliber "unrwapped"...I see that DCX managed somehow defy current styling trends again and keep that old school whip antenna on the production version.
  16. If Toyota decides to build a 4-door version, which, I am sure they are already studying...watch out.
  17. True...imo Mercedes is the wrong company to be modeling yourself after right now...if anything, Hyundia is the one who seems to be doing it right...or more right.. than the others.
  18. Engineered Like No Other Car in the World??
  19. I am hoping that the new Imperial will be more than just the "stretched" 300 that also has a topic running on here...not that there is anything wrong with the 300 or a stretch version of it, but I hope that the Imperial is much more distinctive....maybe a convertible??
  20. Anybody know when Caddy is going to get around to adding STS-V info to their site...it just says "Coming Soon"...seems like now is the time since the reviews and comparisons are showing up in mags. Am I missing a micro-site someplace?
  21. OUCH....that "untintended" accleration can be a real problem.
  22. LOL! So true...but I think many of us on here try to walk that "line" of sharing what we know with our fellow car freaks on this site who are craving info, but try to do it in a responsible way that does not jeopardize the success of the vechicle in any way (or get us in trouble in any way), and we realy on a certain degree of anonymity on here...guess its like "don't ask, don't tell".
  23. I do not know why "old" names (Tempest, etc.) are abandoned, and I think that it is too bad, but I can tell you that a big reason why there are so many alphanumeric names for new entries is that most "good" names have already been trademarked...there simply are NOT that many good car names left. Think of Porsche Cayanne...most likely any decent off road "image" sounding name was already trademarked by another manufacturer, even if not in use yet...so Porsche had to take a different slant on the name.
  24. I think that if anybody has a chance of getting VW back on track it IS Wolfgang Bernhard...he has stated publicly what he feels VW's challenges are (i.e. trying to be what they are not) and he sounds prepared to make the necessary changes. Hopefully they give him some room.
  25. Sorry I can't kiss and tell...hope you understand.
