  1. One of the sticking points was Retirees benefits, Ford and DCX only have 9k retirees each but GM has 26k. Anyways, I just saw on Report on Business TV (Kinda like Canada's version of Nightly Business Report) that a deal is very close to being announced. Both sides know a strike is death wish for both sides.
  2. You have a lot of good points and they might prove true but I refuse to believe the union will be that pig headed and strike GM now when they know dam well GM has their back to the ground. Hargrove is a bit of a screwball but he needs to help the big 3 get of the mess they're in and surely he knows the last thing GM can afford right now is a strike, but unions have done dummer things in the past so who knows........
  3. Agree with all of FOG's comments. There is no way they can strike though, too much is at stake.
  4. They are not going to strike, this is just a bunch of BS from the union. They know the last thing GM needs right now is a strike.
  5. We used to have some of those here in Montreal Canada back in the late 80's when I was in high school and my friends and I referred to them as Iraqi taxi's. The story we used to hear was that they built specially for Iraq and some of them never made it there and a few hundred of them ended up for sale in Canada. I'm pretty sure they were all 4 doors, 3.8 V-6 and 3 speed on the floor.
  6. Okay forget I asked that question, I was asleep at the wheel.
  7. How do you know what member # you are?
  8. Morrinn, its hard to judge this because so many people in the U.S. don't see that much snow, and even a lot of the ones who do don't get snow in November that stays until late March. If you live in a climate with lots of winter driving conditions you can't beat good quality snow tires.
  9. Beautiful. The kind of car Saturn and Chevy and Pontiac should have on their showroom floors NOW, but as usual just too dam slow. I can't understand why pictures of a car that is still 2 years away are even out. This car should be debuting in January in Detroit and going on sale in February. I don't see how they can build this in Lordstown since they should be able to max out production capacity next year with the Cobalt and Pursuit, how can they find another 100k - 150k for this new Saturn? I mean if the Ion can sell 100k-115k a year this car will have no problem doing 125k-150k.
  10. A few weeks ago I noticed an old 1979 Pontiac Parisienne and I stopped to check it out and the owner and I started chating about cars. He also had a 91 Pontiac 6000 in the driveway and he told me to go have a look at the odometer. The car had 533,000 KM on it which would be about 340,000 miles!! I could not believe it! He told me it was the best car GM ever made. There is no doubt that the Century,Cutlass Ciera, and 6000 were excellent cars. I don't know if it was the original motor or if major things had been done to it (he said no but maybe he was full of crap) but I was just surprised to see a car with that high milege on it, especiallly with the winters we have around here. I also know a taxi driver with a 92 Cutlass Supreme and he put almost 400,000KM before ditching it last year for a 96 Lumina.
  11. Looks like an early 90's explorer. Finally something that's worse than my Cavalier
  12. Only if they are head and shoulders above the competition and can take sales from them, and that's a big IF. We'll have to wait for a test dive.
  13. "Roof-mounted head curtain side air bags with rollover protection for all seating rows available on LS, LT-1 and LT-2 models; standard on LT-3 and LTZ" Should be standard on all models. If they're standard on a Kia Spectra why are they not on an expensice vehicle like this GM?
  14. 4 speed auto on all but the 6.2 engine? Here why go again. The press is going to rake them over the coals for this. Everything else looks excellent.
  15. It is a very nice color. For 06 the G6 has added Emerald Green to the option list which looks pretty close to yours.
  16. I never liked hatches and I don't like this one either.
  17. Your right, they are A**holes.
  18. Maybe he should of sold that 3rd SUV and boat and maybe even the country place. 87K, not bad for a fork lift operator.
  19. More like the worst badge job of all time. At least the Sunfire /Cavalier had different front and rear ends, different panels, hood, lights and unique dashes, but you have to understand without this car Pontiac dealers in Canada would be in serious trouble.
  20. I WANT TO SEE INTERIORS!!!! and they better be the new benchmark.
  21. "Only a lack of a track record for reliability keeps the new Impala from claiming a place on the pantheon. Helping ease anxiety: It's built at the General Motors factory at Oshawa, Ontario, which has won awards for high-quality manufacturing." What lack of a track record? The Impala has always done well in regards to reliability. Even the dreaded Consumer Reports has recommended it for the last 4-5 years.
  22. Glad to hear is wasn't serious. I have the same motor in my 01 Z24. I thought the major issues with this motor were fixed by 2000? I have 65,000 miles on her and no problems yet but I am considering keeping this car for another 4-5 years.
  23. Not radical enough to be the next Malibu.
  24. yeh and don't forget if GM didn't have to pay for all that Viagra for their retirees the G6 might of had a better interior!
  25. Is that you Roger Smith? Toyota seems to be unstoppable and this will only add to GM and Ford's woes in the next few years.
