  1. Talk about a quick decision! I guess some people don't plan their purchase a year in advance like me. Sorry FOG but I have to agree with the comments about the back seat. I test drove one last week and let my wife drive for a few miles so I could jump in the back seat to see how it was back there and it was a bit tight for such a big car. It was smaller than my Cutlass Supreme 4 door back seat. They gave it a huge trunk but why not just cut down on the trunk a little and add those precious inches to the interior? They made the same mistake with the Cobalt.
  2. So I guess my Delco spark plugs will be coming from Mexico from now on?? I forget the exact history but I think Albert Champion left the company and went on to continue selling his plugs under the Champion name and AC and Dayton Engineering Laboratories were merged to form AC Delco.
  3. About time someone wrote a positive article. I don't think GM will declare bankruptcy voluntarily anytime soon just as a way to get rid of their legacy costs. They may be forced into it in the future if their new products flop or a strike at Delphi cripples them.
  4. The short answer is a guy named Roger Smith and the 1980's.
  5. 64 Impala SS
  6. If people in their 30's like Buick's maybe there is hope for me getting an Impala next year. Is 34 too young to get an Impala? I don't want people to be calling me Gramps.
  7. I would be interested in reading his book.
  8. At least it only cost you $4 bucks.
  9. ''The vast majority of the cars affected have not yet been sold'' and "they were built between June and October", I don't get it. You would think that cars built 4-5 months ago would have already been sold especially considering when Honda released their October sales #'s they were saying how great the new Civic sold. Plus dealers near here only had their Civic unveiling the week of October 10th. Just the typical auto company PR bull.
  10. I have two questions, My friend and I have the same problem.Where is it located on a 97 Trans Sport and a 01 Cavalier. On the Trans Sport when the fan is on cold air the rush of air is strong but when its on hot air the on the air flow is almost nothing. Any ideas?
  11. No he's pronouncing it his way.The vote here seems to be pretty even. We could go on and on. There are lots of different pronounciations for car names, Hyundai is suppossed to sound like Sunday with a H but lots of people say Hyundi,I've heard Celeeca instead of Celica and lots of people say Neesan instead of Nissan. The U.S. guys here might not know in Canada we say Zed 24 and Zed 28 and notZee 24 or Zee 28, but we don't call the Im-pal-ah the Im-pal-eh!
  12. I choose #1. I had never heard it pronounced Im-paula until about a year ago when I saw Gary Cowger interviewed and I heard him say Im-paula and I was like WTF was that? a GM exec doesn't know how to pronounce the name of their best selling car?
  13. The 2 light colour interior colors are better than the horrible dark ebony. I test drove one today and it had the ebony interior with the wood grain trim, talk about a dull and awful mix. I took one for a spin but I would have to rent one and drive it for a couple of days to get a real feel for the car. What mileage do you get with it? It does seem to be a lot of car for the money. I think I prefer driving the Malibu /G6 but when you start adding everything onto those cars like side air bags and on star your at the price of an Impala LT.
  14. Your mixing up Jack Smith with Roger Smith. Roger was the one who drove GM into the ground, Jack Smith saved GM in 92 but they have run into so many more problems lately many of which were not the fault of Jack Smith or Wagoner for that matter.
  15. They didn't specify 2 door or 4 door, the Cobalt got the lowest score of any small car, 86% worse than average, I looked through the book quickly and it wasn't pretty for the Cobalt. Problems with fit and finish, suspension and air conditioning etc etc etc.I know CR can be a**holes and a lot of the stuff doesn't make sense like how they can recommend the Maxx but not the Malibu, the Monte Carlo is a best pick but not the Impala, but I was still dissappointed to see the Cobalt do so poorly. Now all the people who turn to CR for info are going to see the big black circle beside Cobalt that says stay away. GM dropped the ball and continue to have trouble with launches. What are they smoking in Lordstown?
  16. I agree. For 80% of buyers the car based CUV's are the better choice. I was dissappointed to see the Equinox did poorly in CR latest ratings, Seems a lot of people are complaining about fit and finsh problems among other things. Hopefully they will work hard to address these 1st year problems.
  17. Nice job scanning you onwers manual. Went last week for my 22nd oil change (110,000KM) that is all the maintenance my car had needed in 4.5 years. Decided to buy new plugs and change them myself ( took 30 minutes) even though the manual says change them at 166,000KM I wanted to change them. They still looked okay.
  18. You sure did some solid research to make your point. Plus those Minivan #s do not include the roughly 40k sales the CSVs will have in Canada this year which would bring the total production up to 180k for the year.
  19. I'm glad to see its not cancelled cause that would of been like throwing in the towel and admitting defeat. That said I think it will be tough to move a lot of G6 verts that are in the 30K range. I don't know how many they think they can sell but I gotta wonder if it will be worth all the development and engineering costs to get it on the road, hope its not another Envoy XUV.
  20. [quote name='evok' date='Oct 31 2005, 11:56 PM'] Who the hell do you think is keeping the US government afloat? US tax revenue? Try the Koreans, Japanese and Chinese. That is who are buying the treasure bonds that are funding the Iraq war, Katrina and the rest of the pork coming out of DC. That is who. Todays economy is so interwoven, and international, the WWII era principles you subscribe to are only small factors in todays world. So what your saying is Korea,Japan and China have the U.S. by the balls?
  21. You mean that Japanese Ainsin transmission is causing you problems? I'm calling Consumer Reports.
  22. Glad to see that ugly thing isn't selling well.
  23. You got that right. This is one vehicle they should be marketing big time right because of practicality, roominess, fuel economy, it is a great alternative to an SUV but nobody even knows what it is. The only ones I ever see on the road are rentals.
  24. Want some Kraft dinner with that?
