GMNA to Undergo Major Capacity Reduction
I hope GMRULES again replied to jd2b's topic in General Motors
I have never heard of any company announcing that one of its plants will close in 3 years. Some of the news may have been gravy for Wall Street but either way GM does have too much capacity. -
Ontario premier says he'll push GM to save jobs
I hope GMRULES again replied to Ghost Dog's topic in General Motors
Looking back at Monday's news it would of been hard for GM to announce all those closings without Canada taking some of the hit. So they say they'll give Oshawa 2 the chop and then after the new UAW contract in Sept. 2007 is signed there would still be a year left to line up new product for Oshawa 2. Healthcare is a big Canadian advantage and the dollar could drop down to more historic levels by then which would help our exports again. The whole Oshawa part of Monday's news smells fishy. I read somewhere the reason they were cutting back Impala production was to reduce the amount of fleet sales which are less profitable but the Impala is the #1 fleet car in the market so I don't get it. Plus in his speech Wagoner said production will cease at Oshawa 2, not close, but that's a bit misleading considering plants 1 and 2 are practically connected if they decided to retool the whole place for RWD cars they could knock down a wall and build almost as many cars as now. How is the new Impala selling in Toronto CARBIZ ? -
Is his 1st name John?

No no I didn't take it that way. What did you think of my post?

I could care less that the Solstice didn't win cause they will sell all 20K they can build anyway, winning COTY wouldn't of done much to help sales. If I was rooting for a GM model to win I would want it to be a high volume seller and right now they don't have anything that could win. As for the Civic I don't care for the funky new digital dash which of course if it was in a GM car they would rip to shreads and say it looked like something out of an Oldsmobile. I've only seen 3 on the road so far and trust me I live in the import / econobox /small car capital of North America but I'm sure it will be great seller cause its got the big H up front.

Monte Carlo SS Tested by The Car Connection
I hope GMRULES again replied to I hope GMRULES again's topic in Chevrolet
I know. I just meant that Chevy fans who bitch about it being FWD should reserve judgement until they've taken a new one for a ride. 0-60 in under 6 seconds is pretty dam good. -
GM banking on 15 new vehicles for turnaround

I asked the question, what has he done to help to support his hometown workers of Flint. I'm not against him and I actually agree with some of his statements. He made his fortunes by exposing GM's piss poor management of the 80's (somebody had to) and airing his hometowns dirty laundry for the world to see, though not all of the problems in Flint were GM's doing. Just because the management of a company screws up I don't think you have should be against the whole company and its workers. His Father and Grandfather worked for GM in Flint which put the food on his kitchen table as a child so I think its a fair question. He doesn't HAVE to buy a GM car but if he cared about helping support his home town then why not buy a GM car that was built in Michigan if its a good quality vehicle. I would bet he high tailed it out of Michigan when he made it big and now lives in sunny California and drives a BMW or god forbid maybe even a Toyota. In my book that means he doesn't give a sh** about helping Flint.

GMNA to Undergo Major Capacity Reduction

Couldn't put GM back together again. :P -
So he says they didn't go far enough but doesn't offer any insight into what they should do. What does he want ?Close 15-20-25 plants? Chop Buick and Pontiac? like that will save them.

I wonder if Moore, with all his money has ever went out a bought a GM car that was built in his home state of Michigan to support his former neighbours in Flint? I highly doubt it. He's lucky GM management was as bad as it was in the 80's which made his first movie such a success or he'd probably still be living in Flint skinning rabbits and chopping their balls off for a living.

GMNA to Undergo Major Capacity Reduction
I hope GMRULES again replied to jd2b's topic in General Motors
Then why did I just see Buzz Hargrove, CAW President, on the news looking like he just woke up from a deep sleep saying he was shocked by the Oshawa news? Was he bluffing? I won't be holding my breath for 2009-2010 for the new GM to emerge, I've be waiting for 20 years now so I'm pretty sure hell is going to freeze over before it happens. -

If what your saying is true do the workers at these plants know this is only smoke and mirrors to satisfy wall street? -

GMNA to Undergo Major Capacity Reduction

I have been seeing TV commercials about the Lacrosse lately and one of them says "Built in the best plant in North America according to JD Power" , and now they are closing it, what a disgrace. Fairfax isn't at capacity now but probably will be when the Aura is added there next fall. They could give Buick an Epsilon car and build it along side the G6 in Orion cause that plant could easily use another 100k worth of production. The big question now is what replaces Lacrosse and Grand Prix. -

Disgusting. Another nail in the GM coffin. Closing Oshawa #2 their most productive plant probably because if GM Canada didn't take some of the hit the UAW would go bananas.Eliminating a third shift at Oshawa #1 so I guess they've conceded that the Impala will never reach the sales of 300k again like a few years back. They sure are making it tough for the GM faithful. I have to wonder if I want to keep living in the past or if maybe I should just move on and be a fan of a car company of the future. RIP -

Congrats. I have not seen many on the road in that cool bright red color yet. keep us posted on how things are going. -
A decent review and quite a respectable 0-60 time and a top speed of 145 MPH. I don't see how anyone can bitch about this car being FWD. It will blow the doors off of any RWD Monte,Camaro etc that me and my buddies used to drive back in the good old days.Check it out Here

It was a great article so maybe it can help the Impala pick up steam. My two brothers just got back from a boys trip to San Francisco and Vegas (I didn't have the cash to make it) and I was even more pissed when I found out they had an 06 LT for 5 days as a rental. I asked them what were the good points and bad points about the Impala and they were like, bad points? what bad points? the car was solid, great interior, great engine, a lot better and Quieter than the 05 Impala our family rented this summer when we had relatives in town. They averaged 28MPG and that was with alot of driving in the mountains near San Fran and Siicon valley. I'll ask the question again cause nobody has answered me yet, is 34 too young to be the proud owner of a 2006 Chevy Impala?

GM Canada - Ring In And Win Promotion Returns
I hope GMRULES again replied to CadillacCTS's topic in General Motors
The commercials for Ring in and Win are pretty sad too, people pick up the phone and call and Santa answers to tell them if they won anything. I knew it would be back again this year. Actually when I test drove an Impala last week and the salesman and I talked price he mentioned there might be some promotions coming up that would lower the price and I said so you mean Ring and win is coming back again this year and he said probably. I think everybody has leases advertised for $179 or $199 that require a big down payment so I can't fault GM for that. How about a massive advertising blitz talking about quality, fuel economy backed up by a new 10 year warranty to convince the skeptics???
