  1. If a V6 is offered in this car in NA GM can allways call it the 'SV6'... Australian naming minus the word 'Commodore'
  2. Puketastic!!! On another note, saw a V8 Dodge Dart, lowered '53 Eldorado (I think) and an Edsel last week on a McDonald's parking lot near Hallsberg, Sweden. Sweet sightings!!!
  3. Your impression on build quality and if the car feels solid overall.
  4. If bought a rusting Cimarron, could I get a plate with 'ASS' written in it?
  5. Just confirms Peugeot's stakes and GM wanting to play hard vs. Merkel. Another angle is that PSA needs to share platform development and will be using GM platforms. That's my bet, not what's on the quote.
  6. I like it more than the Mokka. Hope it's cheap, because Opel has no breathing room to up prices and Chevy is making a dent in Opel's market share.
  7. I like the Taurus. And the red color looks just great!
  8. The silly question: if you yell inside the car, dies it Eco? The serious question: fuel conomy in real world, normal driving - how good is it?
  9. trucks
  10. Wouldn't that create overlap? If anything a nice Omega-based Riviera could make sense. But, again, the risk of overlap is big in that option.
  11. I think C&D might be a little off... Since the CTS is moving to Alpha it makes sense to have only one sedan on Omega, the flagship car (in SWB and LWB configurations). What would make sense (to me at least and though it would become much less of a cash cow for GM) would be for the Escalade to move to Omega... A 2-door would be dependent on how GM positions any Alpha-based coupes/convertibles.
  12. diesel
  13. As for the diesel: yes, no doubt. GM's been slow, very slow in that regard so far. And it would not be the diesel V6 they were testing in the CTS that would generate volume: it's the 520d and the 525d that sell well as executive's cars, not the 530d or the 535d. Cadillac has around 40 dealers in Europe IIRC, but... For example, if you follow the links from cadillaceurope to the two Spanish dealers (Madrid and Barcelona), the webpage for Cadillac on those dealers webpages simply does not work. GM should be on top of that as those pages, though not GM-run, are important in creating visibility for the brand. Add to that the fact that GM never really tried to make the brand visible outside a few events... Well, it takes an effort and I would really like GM to be willing to put that effort forward.
  14. Nice to see these running around, but when are the SUV versions expected to debut? I'm interested in seeing how far Cadillac will be in differentiating the Escalade from the Chevy and GMC...
  15. Basically, GM needs to start to show an actual interest in setting up the brand over here (with geographical coverage of the whole of Europe). GM's previous efforts with Cadillac here have been a joke. I'd say import directly via GM, or pair the importer (but NOT/NEVER the showrooms) with Chevrolet; start by having dealers in the capital and perhaps one or two major cities depending on how big a market we're talking about. And offer some freaking diesel engines!!! The 4-cylinder kind, especially. Lexus had a very modest sales volume expectation (10K units/year IIRC) and they offered the 2.2L diesel in the IS; no reason Cadillac can't do the same with the twin-turbo 2.0L used in the Insignia (or perhaps adapt that twin turbocharging to the 2.2L diesel used in the Captiva). As long as it gains at least 10HP to 15HP in the Chevrolet/Opel-to-Cadillac transition it will differentiate itself nicely... Direct competition to the 320d and 520d would be most welcome! EDIT - On the brand equity issue: the CTS AWD was also named by readers of Auto Bild as AWD car of the year. Not bad, and too much an opportunity to miss if GM is serious in making Cadillac visible here in the EU!!! Link: http://www.cadillace...news_article_13
  16. Yep! Good to see GM delivering on the plan. I expect the new CTS to be a big leap from what everyone hails as an already great car! BTW, the CTS-V wagon was named Autobild Sportscar of the Year (http://www.cadillace...news_article_11) in Nov-2011, so it seems Cadillac is moving forward on the perception track here on my side of the Atlantic. I hope sales are better there than here. I see so few CTS wagons here. I mostly see them on dealer lots unsold. I'll have to check in Sweden when I travel there. Cadillac just gave up on the Portuguese market after they sold 1 (yes, just one) sigma-based SRX here when the Spanish Breogan Group had a dealer open for almost a year in Oporto... GM not marketing the brand might have had something to do with it too...

  18. ATS aimed straight at the competition. Good! That means the CTS will get a big jump in price to match the 5-Series, etc, segment. Buick is starting to get a long due breathing room in the price ladder
  19. How does this compare to the 3-Series, C-class, A4 trio? Iwould expect Cadillac to be chasing those prices, which I perceive should be the highest in the segment...
  20. Any newer spy pics? I am intrigued abut the grille under that camo: it looks pretty much like the Ciel's grille
  21. in heat
  22. A network of alliances seems to be the way forward... R&D is getting expensive and cash is a rare commodity these days...
