  1. If they had a source at GM Europe's headquarters in Zürich, the figure could be quite credible. I'm pretty sure that while GM doesn't report those numbers to the outside, the info is prepared and reported inside the company.
  2. The Saturn would make sense if Opel gets a RWD car that fills the Omega's place. The others seem fine with me. And speaking of RWD: couldn't Cadillac just try and take a look at shortening a RWD architecture for the 2nd-gen BLS? EDIT: just read the Opel bit at the end...
  3. sun block? lol, that was funny UV8 = Ultra V8 = the Northstar's successor.
  4. GM has to balance things very carefully between brands, and cannot allow excessive overlap. And the idea of a 2+2 streched Kappa for Pontiac is quite interesting if Pontiac is to become the performance oriented division (I'm writing performance as in real performance and not performance image) as Lutz said he'd like to see. Not all of the performance equation is built around 400hp V8s, as the Solstice has proven so well.
  5. Build the Nomad on Kappa, bring it to Europe, and I'll trade my MINI the day they lauch it!
  6. Why GMC?
  7. I thought the MKX, although based on the Fusion platform (am I confusing platforms here?), would be larger...
  8. I'm guessing the same, Northstar. It would be interesting if the Cadillac version would make something like 305hp. The "above 300" line would fit well into Cadillac's marketing scheme, imo. And the UV8 will come for sure. The Northstar needs an update/replacement. As far as the Eclave goes: Wow, impressive! Can't wait to see the Saturn and GMC
  9. :rotflmao: that was funny
  10. Sorry Ford/Lincoln fans, but imo the Encalve will kill the MKX
  11. And it says 270hp without mentioning direct injection. I'm confident this engine will go very near or even above 300hp with DI...
  12. Wow, great job! If that's what Buick will be offering (sit up and listen to the reactions, GM!) I wonder what Cadillac, which is above Buick on the GM ladder, will bring to the table starting with the next CTS...
  13. Interestingly, he talks more about Pontiac than Buick. My bet would be on Buick's long term future being China, just like Chevy in Latin Ameica, and getting Euro/American/GMDAT models.
  14. Nice, but it will look much better in darker colors.
  15. I LOVE IT! Now I'll have to find a way to move to the US by the time the production version comes out.
  16. That powertrain would be killer in Euro-bound Escalades... Regarding the Suburban: good looking, just like the Tahoe. Thumb up for Chevy!
  17. It better be capable. Jeep has a reputation to protect.
  18. I'm European, 29 years old, and I tell you that if I moved to the US I'd be checking the Lucerne.
  19. Filing for Chapter 11 isn't a surprise if you're burning cash at a $5bn a year rate. What's going to be interesting to follow is how well GM executes their capacity reduction plans in NA and, more importantly on a long-run perspective, their globalised product development strategy. Congrats on the Solstice, btw! :)
  20. Err.................. Would you buy a 70-hp diesel Opel Corsa 2-door if Chevy named it the new Camaro?
  21. Re-reading these posts and the ones in the Saturn forum about the Ion replacement, I think they're just killing redesigns on the current version of the Epsilon architecture. Nothing dramatic here. The smart thing to do is to rationalize money allocation accross engineering centers so thy can deliver the best products in each segment.
  22. Too many tiny buttons... Materials are not Luxury-car-like but newer Opel cars, like the Astra and Vectra are very well put together.
  23. I like it: good basis to develop a production model *fingers crossed*.
  24. I had a Law Professor that is Past Grand Master of the Regular Legal Grand Lodge of Portugal, and he turned me on to stuff like Religious/Spiritual symbolism. The Armenian branch of Christianity is one of the tings I'd like to learn more about when I get the chance. Also, SOAD rule! Now back to Camaro - don't want to hijack the thread :AH-HA_wink: I have a couple of questions for you guys: should there be a base model with a V6? Or have a cheaper 5.3L V8 (an RS model for example) and a 6.0L V8 for a Z28/SS?
  25. Well, the expression "Tip of the iceberg" does make you wonder... especially those of us who don't work for GM (but would like to, if GM Europe weren't acting like idiots by not wanting to hire people that would have to relocate to Zürich - but that's another story). Back on topic, if the "Tip of the iceberg" means that GM is finally going to implement a global approach to product development, then this might be a welcome delay. Smarter allocation of develpment money, so efforts are not duplicated and good ideas can move faster inside the company: I'm all for it!
