  1. Point taken. I responded purely according to my interpretation of what you wrote. My personal view regarding Cadillacs and Corvette salles in Europe is that Europeans just don't care about American car brands. I don't think there's one American car brand that would qualify as 'highly desirable' in Europe: most people here would still go for a given Porsche or Ferrari, even if the Corvette smokes them both at half the price and with equivalent build quality. Brand equity is extremely important here and I suspect that has a lot to do with the Cadillac/Corvette low sales figures. I think that even a very interesting product such as the new CTS will have a hard time here, so it's not an issue of something being 'worthy' of the brand or not. It's just that Europeans don't see any positive attributes in American brands that would make us aspire to such cars the same way we aspire to buy BMWs and Mercedes.

  3. Have you ever sat inside a BLS so you can form an opinion regarding materials and interior fit and finish? And btw, the Escalade doesn't sell well here because of its size and huge (for European standards) engine. It's not that hard to understand that streets in Europe are slightly narrower than in the USA and that we tend to pay around $4 per gallon of gas. This makes smaller more fuel efficient vehicles much more attractive.

  5. Being advertised and selling 100/month is bad, and sad. I haven't driven one and don't expect a FWD car to perofm on par with the BMW 3-series, but I can tell you from the BLS I sat in that the interior is very well put together and IMHO is not behind any competitor's.
  6. Holden some of you wish a Ute as a moder El Camino, right?
  7. LOL @ iCrash
  8. I know it doesn't. I was just trying to introduce the issue of how many models does Pontiac need, and if what is currently called the G6 might be split between a smaller model and a larger Commodore-based model, from a perspective of differentiation from the FWD offerings from Chevy, Saturn, and both Japanese and European manufacturers.
  9. sugar and speaking of coffee, check http://www.livescience.com/humanbiology/07...feine_pain.html
  10. Both cars are fairly close size-wise and the only thing the Commodore doesn't offer is a 4-cylinder. That could be covered by a smaller RWD car.Pontiac doesn't need more that two sedans IMO.
  11. I'm with sciguy on this one: for me it's 'muito bom'. I love it!My only issues with the CTS are: (a) the 2.8L (Europe's base engine) apparently isn't getting DI - I think GM should go all the way and provide two top of the line powertrains instead of only one; (b) the car has a foot-operated parking brake - I was expecting an electric parking brake with a switch on the centre console; © no diesel announced for Europe - unless there's any technical constraint, using the VM 3.0L diesel engine would have been a great way to increase the appeal of the CTS in Europe. @ evok: eloquent post! If I was able to to afford a car in this segment right now (in Portugal the current CTS goes from approx. EUR 60K to approx. EUR 75K ) I'd choose the CTS over the 525i/530i. It's distinctive and shows what GM is able to achieve.
  12. I like the IS in non-F trim, but I find the body kit disgusting. The lack of a manual transmission is inexcusable.
  13. So, should RWD/AWD V6 be called the G6, replacing the current FWd model?

  15. I know what you mean...Today I got an e-mail about Swedish Institute's scholarships and I'm going to try and find out if there's a thesis-only scholarship for my Masters. That way I might be able to take a 9 or 10 months unpaid leave from my current job and work on my thesis while looking for permanent employment. @ Mustang: Have fun!
  16. 191.6 inches = 4866 mm and not 4766 mm
  17. Interesting that the quote says Commodore SS = G8, which means V8 only.EDIT (food for thought): Would it make sense to send a cheaper V6 version to the US as the NG G6?

  20. I believe there was a rumour about the EpII G6 being canned which might make some sense if the 2 cars end up sharing a new RWD architecture. Anyway, I hope the BTS (that's how they should name it IMO) turns RWD and into a 3-series competitor (in size and driving dynamics).EDIT: The rear 3/4 shot in silver ir very nice. It seems the cllour silver accents character lines that didn't seem to be there on the orange and red models.

  22. Current model, Epsilon II, or on the platform AH-HA talked about in his Biblical 'I am Alpha and Omega' quote?
  23. Voted :AH-HA_wink:
  24. Sadly, I don't think the 2.8L is getting DI. I think they should have made the effort to upgrade the engine as it has a good chance of being the top seller in export markets.
