    C&G Routine

Always to new posts after reviewing the opening page.
  3. I hope GM gets the point. This could easily be another area that GM can show how they've "gone green", uping toyota not only by the Volt but also diesel variants of different models (including the Volt).
  4. Suburban seems fitting for those that buy it now days.
  5. Before kids my wife and I considered Sweden and Alaska. Once the kids are out we have talked about moving to Colorado or Alaska. Lots of snow makes me happy.
  6. Blue Collar, High Pay, Great Benefits, Hurting Body, Awesome Retirement, Working 60+ hours, paid $60,000 to $70,000 per year kind of Union Job? Try UPS The 1st few years of part-time are tough, but once you go driver you make great money. During that time you can still work at a Pot Lot or such. They will also pay for school, or you could go management. At this time we have ALOT of Supervisors & Drivers retiring (Baby Boomers), so now is the time to get in. EDIT: YOUR BODY WILL HURT!! This is NOT easy work. They will work you harder than you have ever worked before. With that said no one out there has as good insurance or retirement plan (West Coast only). Pay is subpar when you start, but if you stick it out current full scale is $28.15 per hour. There are numerous opportunties for part-timers to pick up additional work at the larger Hubs.
  7. You don't just give up a brand that is tops in quality that easily. I do think there was a wait and see on the Enclave. If such a great vehicle couldn't make a splash in the market place then the brand name really was dead. The Enclave has proven otherwise.
  8. With the bigger size and the not so great execution (even C&D who usually LOVES hondas pokes fun at it), will the new accord be the second generation of not so great accords? If you remember, the last one wasn't loved so much either on the looks department. Add to that the transmission issues . . . Will the public finally figure out honda builds crap?
  9. Chevy is volume = Chevy is big money Saturn is low volume and currently not best seller of 3 = Saturn makes little money Chevy should get the vehicle from a fiscal stand point. GM (and any other company) is in the auto business to make money. Chevy makes the money.
  10. Good idea. The Century is boring and doesn't do much for ones image, but they do tend to run forever.
  11. Maybe GM should consider doing something similar today. Going outside of the auto shows to show America where they are going & industry in general. This would be a GREAT opportunity for them to show off their new products. They could do it in conjunction with Microsoft / MAC / ?? I'm sure if they included many different industries and focus on the environment, people would show up in droves throughout the country.
  12. Ok, my 9 & 10 year old daughters are in to it.
  13. Back to the point of the accord. Interesting that C&D of all magazines went after the accord. With that said, one has to wonder if the new Malibu will bring more positive attention than the new accord.
  14. I just hope GM gives Buick the Hybrid editions like the other divisions. It would be a huge hit with the baby boomers.
  15. 1. For the average Joe - 5 year / 100k warranty 2. GM now does what ever it takes to back up their products.
  16. If you go to the webpage for the G6 it shows the 4 models available. Under the G6 GT it shows a 219hp 2.6 liter V6. Huh?
  17. On the truck war side; August 2007 Silverado - 71,172 F-150 - 69,220 August 2006 Silverado - 57,836 F-150 - 76,804 YTD as of August 2007 Silverado - 461,796 F-150 - 481,146 YTD as of August 2006 Silverado - 467,040 F-150 - 545,963 The big questions of the year. 1. Could Ford be giving up the F-150 lead by dropping all those fleet sales? 2. Could the Silverado take over the sales lead with an end of the year push? 3. Is GM willing to throw in a few more leases for the Silverado to take the title? Will Ford throw in some year end fleets to keep the title? 4. Does the F-150 outsell the Silverado in retail sales or is it fleet sales that keep it #1? Some other things to note; 1. The Cobalt and Impala are less than 800 units shy of outselling the entire Ford car lineup. 2. The Escape has taken a BIG nose dive in recent months. It used to outsell the Equinox without question. 3. #'s to an earlier post. Chevrolet for August = 229,012 ENTIRE Ford Company = 218,332 This is just SAD news. As much as I want GM to dominate once again, I want it to be on the back of the foreign manufactures not Ford. I just hope this has to do with long range planning and not long term issues.
  18. Sad and could be true. I've heard it said that the American Auto Industry always does better when a Democrat is in office. Either way I hope the new President brings hope to our American Companies.
  19. I just hope GM is ready to handle the demand and they are smart enough to offer it throughout their product line once it proves itself.
  20. Congrats! It's always good to be married when the kid comes. It reduces confusion for the kid and the schools / church whatever you go to.
  21. WOW. That's pretty. The sooner they add these the better.

    First new car

Having 2 girls I feel different about the earned part. My concern is their saftey over anything else. I'm kinda sexist in that way. The way I figure it; a 16 year old girl broken down on the side of the road has a much higher chance of something happening to her vs a 16 year old boy. With that said, my first choice would be the HHR. They recently asked me to trade in the HHR for a Solstice so that they could have it when they get old enough. What ever we decide to get them when they turn 16, it will have OnStar.
  23. The dealer would need a BIG manufacture rebate to get there. Whether it was a front end rebate, or a back end rebate doesn't matter.
  24. Great article. I don't think any of us are suprised that honda and toyota are starting to have issues with their cars. The 1980s & early 90s accord & camry didn't have much for options or high tech stuff. They also didn't build them in bulk like they do now. As the years go by, I won't be suprised to find both honda and toyota fall in quality. It will take the public 10+ years to catch on though, just like in the case of GM.
  25. As a UPS employees, my wife and I were VERY dissappointed with the switch to toyota, especially as we are a Union company. Keep in mind that he switched to toyota prior to UPS signing the contract. I know we are not the only ones at UPS up in arms over this. We are hoping when his contract comes up that UPS will drop him. He is a sucky driver anyways so it wouldn't be much of a loss.
