  1. We had the Buick and HHR for sale, and to my suprise the Buick sold first. It is now with an "older" couple who lost their 1993 Buick PA to a flood. I've decided to keep the HHR. It should make a decent ski rig with some Blizzaks (we'll see). The cost of sending it down the road for an AWD or 4wd vehicle just wasn't worth it. Especially at todays gas prices.
  2. I wonder if GM is going to use it for commercials.
  3. Already done.
  4. A man is someone who takes responsiblity for his actions, will protect his friends and family at the cost of his own life or happiness, and one who is willing to stand for what he believes in, but is willing to accept when he is wrong. Being a man has nothing to do with sex. I find is sad that we put more emphasis on sex than actual love. It goes to show how screwed up we really are. A real man will not have sex with a women unless he is willing to hand that women his entire paycheck to take care of the child that might come out of her.
  5. Though it's not officially "mine", I now get to ensure and use a 2007 acura tl. Our kid couldn't afford to ensure the car, so we took it. He's paying the lease and we get the car for atleast the next 6 months. My neighbor and Dad gave me a bad time for allowing a "foreign" car to park in my garage. I usually don't even allow this type of crap in my driveway. Oh what one does for their kids.
  6. Congrats! What kind of gas mileage have you gotten so far?
  7. We've had more snow days this year than I can remember. Not enough to close schools, but enough to be a burden. It's been a very cold winter.
  8. Not a bad idea. Will it be attached to the next generation Cobalt rather than putting it in this one?
  9. Good news. The same idiots that bought the toyota are the ones that voted in the fools running our government. Until we all take personal responsibilty for the world around us, things will continue to go downhill. BTW: This is the type of attitude that I can't stand. The world isn't just about you. It is about your neighbor, the kids riding their bikes down the street, and the guy in another state that used to make that blender you bought 10 years ago that was made in America. YOU are paying higher taxes right now because of this debt. I guess you don't mind paying more, but I do. Since you're ok with it, why don't you write my portion which was increased because of those buying foreign products (of which I avoid at all cost). You can make the $88,000 check to the IRS in my name please ($22,000 for each family member). Point is, why should I pay for the _sshole that bought foreign? I'm all for freedom of purchase, but I shouldn't have to suffer because of someone elses stupid move.
  10. I don't like the dash. honda and toyota have gotten button crazy and I just don't like it. Remember when GM went button crazy in the 80s? All the magazines hated it. Now . . . well . . . since honda and toyota do it they like it.
  11. Not totally true. At some point in time that car will need repairs. This is a HUGE part of our trade deficit with Japan. When it comes down to it, GM employs more people in the US, so you are better off buying an Aveo from GM than a camry from toyota. Don't get me wrong, you are much better off getting the Cobalt vs the Aveo in the first place. But the question is, which of the two (Aveo vs camry) is the more evil. Check out Level Field for more info. My main beef; People buying foreign CRAP is affecting what I pay in taxes and how much money my kid's school has. I shouldn't suffer become so _sshole is so self centered that he or she won't think beyond their own needs.
  12. This is my hot button lately. I'm getting flat out pissed off that people are screwing me and my kids because of their stupid purchases. Recent Lou Dobbs comment on the trade deficit Funny how he leaves cars out of his article. Too many Americans would be offended to know that their beloved toyota isn't so American after all. Level Field Institute updated webpage shows how little foreign makes, make here.
  13. Used GM cars a great deal. Especially those that are just a year old. They don't depreciate much from the 2nd year to the 4th year. GM could possibly move alot of metal in their pre-owned program with a good lease program. Using a sample from my local dealer here is what I see; 2007 Impala LT 6500 miles for $14,999 (a decent deal for a used Impala) Using KBB and assuming 12,000 miles per year, the same car is worth $8,500 as a trade in (good cond) This is around $180 per month in depreciation. A subvented lease could bring it to $225 per month with no money down. 2007 Cobalt LS 23,400 miles for $9,995 miles (standard going price for such a vehicle) Using KBB and assuming 12,000 miles per year, a Cavalier (2004) is worth $4340 as a trade in (good cond) This is around $158 per month in depreciation. A subvented lease could bring it to $199 per month with no money down. Here is how I see it. If GM subvented leases of GM certified cars; 1. Residual values would increase because less cars would become available 2. Used GM cars would become "hot" increasing residual values 3. It would get people into the GM fold at a low cost 4. The end of lease cost would be low enough that most people would keep the car, or it would make the perfect tax return car purchase. Try it on a GM car you would consider and see what # you come up with.
  14. Knowing toyota they probably sold 9.300,001 vehicles which they rounded up.
  15. I like how toyota is blaming everybody else but themselves now days. Remindes me of the GM that used to be. The one that built crap and blamed the rest of the world for their problems. I just hope the public figures out toyota builds crap quickly and stops drinking their koolaid.
  16. Those at GM didn't say they where going to drop RWD cars competely. They just stated they will drop other Zeta models for cafe reasons. They have been working on smaller rear wheel drive vehicles which could easily create the same entertainment as a Zeta, with better gas mileage.
  17. You can use the same plan I am. I will pin the young man against the wall and while giving him the "crazy" eyes, state, "My little girl means everything to me, and I have no problem with going back to jail for her". Then do a slight smile, move back to the couch and start cleaning the gun, making sure to have a slight face twitch.
  18. Especially in a "main stream" paper.
  19. I had one turn 11 last week. We let her have a slumber party last night. BIG mistake! Prior to this it was the standard noise until 11pm, and for the most part the kids listened. This time they made ALOT of noise until 3 am, did not listen, broke things, had a neighbor boy calling every 10 minuts, and worst of all, made the house REEEEEEK of body odor. It was 20 something degrees out this morning and I had every window in the house open to try and get rid of the smell. I had to put my washer and dryer back, fix some broken items, find missing things . . . And then you add in the drama . . . Warning to all Dads out there. DO NOT LET YOUR DAUGHTER HAVE A BIG SLEEP OVER AFTER THE AGE OF 9. Don't get me wrong. I love my kids and I wouldn't trade them for anything. It's the hormone thing I don't like. With two daughters and a wife, sometimes I find myself just needing to leave the house for sanity. I wouldn't trade my girls for boys, but I sure wouldn't mind adding atleast one male to the house. Here is another one for those Dads out there with girls. DON'T be the "nice" Dad. Be the _ss. It's not just the boys you want scared of you, it's all the kids. Only your own kids need to know what a great Dad you are. The rest need to learn to respect and in some cases fear you.
  20. Sweden did it. I believe in the 70s. He does have a point. Not only would it save money. but it would increase saftey, as those visiting that country would have less issues. I've drivin on the wrong side in India. Fun, but not so smart. Besides, it just doesn't make sense. Most people in the world are right handed. Why would you use your left hand to change gears?
  21. Mercedes owners being older is just flat out funny. Even more interesting is that GM owners are younger than honda owners.
  22. I have been finding some beautiful old Cadillacs, but with gas at $3 a gallon it would cost more to drive one than to make a decent car payment on a newer car.
  23. My Dells have done better than my current Toshiba which lasts less than 5 minutes after 1 year of usage. This could be a major game changer for cars. Even at 250 miles per charge, many will never use gas again.
