  1. Well it has not other choice ans has to. Besides te build up to Christmas is long but it still does not hurt the thrill of opening presents on Christmas morning............................unless your mother inlaw shops on QVC. It will be fine for 90% of the people as your never going to please everyone. Remember too the car coming out in 09 is only the start with more models due soon after.
  2. They did not say but I would expect the V8 is the only one getting the man tranny.
  3. Pontiac has said to Auto Week that the G8 will come standard in the V6 and V8 with the FE2 suspension. This is a change on the V6 as it was to have had the FE1. The FE 2 is a much better set up and more fitting for this car even with a V6. Also they did say the Standard Tranny is coming but it just won't be there for the start of production.
  4. When the server was down I spent time on some other sites and I have to say our group is one of the few realistic groups around. I can tell most here have a clue by your comments and must say I am please to be a part of this group. C & C is one of the best groups of auto fans around. Here are some of the things I noted. The Quarters are not flaired out as much. This has tone down the side lines a small bit. I suspect it may be due to fitting the chassie and Making the car wasier to drive. Also the Quarters would have eaten a lot of rocks like a Cobra or HHR. The Roof is rasied but the side glass is still not rased much. They did move the widshield up into the roof a little to improve visibility. It look higher vs the side glass. GM has done a good job here and I expect after the SSR and Solstice this car will have most fixes in place from a show car. They have made misakes in the past on limited volume cars like the SSR where you have to open the door ro reach the seat bottons to move the seat as there is little room between the seat and door for your hand.
  5. And Honda and Toyota has won how many car of the year awards in Detroit? I don't think it is to biased toward the Detroit companies. I hated every lost to each at Detroit. They will never win in Tokyo as Japans market is biased to keeping many lower priced cars out below BMW and Benz.
  6. Black Chrome? Dirty? Bad Light? Pre production idea? Don't know but they would look good on a dark painted car.
  7. Here is a good picture of the car. Please keep in mund it is not done and some of the changes were done to make the car livable. Please no unrealistic complaints as this is a real world car vs Fantasy concpet. This one has to work and survive the real world of daily driving.
  8. That could be an improvment for some.
  9. The car is not a great departure in front styling from the show car. It carrys a tastefull front that would have looked good on the Malibu. At this point GM could take a old Citation X11 and it would look sexier than the Prius. The Prius was never style to bring pleasure to the eye but I think Lutz and GM will be the first large company to promote the fact just because it is electric it does not have to be odd or ugly. I see also on Autoblog someone is offering a reproduction flux capacitor for $230. GM needs this in the running prototypes just to mess with Toyota!
  10. Hmm in the past it was 1 good review by some unheard of web site and 25 poor or indifferent reviews. I can live with this as you never going to please everyone in a advetising based driven market. Almost all of his complaints are things most average buyers never consider or think about. First off how many average buyers in this class even know what a cut line is let alone complain about it? How often do people complain about GM auto transmissions. IF anything they are and have been the standard others are compared to. If BMW comes to you to build them a tranny you must have done something right. Outside of a Electric car I have always had a noise under the hood most would be troubled if they heard nothing. Thick pillars and other things are objective and differ from buyer to buyer. Most are willing to put up with thick c pillars if it is a great looking car. Now on the other hand when they do nothing like on a Toyota FJ they are less forgiving. Most of his complaints are subjective and will be taken that way, He has spoken as the majority has on this car and that is what counts. GM's recovery is one model line at a time. this was only one more step of many more. As it looks the next step for the next Bu is not that far off and will more the recover even farther along. The bottom line is don't lose any sleep over this review.
  11. Boy your really techical. I would have said just turn left!!
  12. Well it they are not giving Chevy a Holden Ute as a El Camino because of too many models do you really think there is room for a small RWD sedan? Unless some major changes at Chevy are coming I don't see a fit with their line up.
  13. Ahhh, You can believe any of the jerks posting on Chears and Gear they don't know a dang thing! Bob Lutz is the offical time keeper and and says there is more time that is good enough for me right now. Saying Pontiac is going away is like saying were all going to die someday. If you say it vauge enough and long enough your going to be right at some point in the future 5-150 years from now!
  14. Just a day or so ago the Camaro was delayed till Feb 09 for production due to plant delays. I have not confirmed this but I have heard this from two diffrent sources. They said the pilot cars and engineering cars would be out sooner but the cars for the public will be delayed a few weeks than we first expected. Not really a big deal. I too am waiting on the G8 ST as it would suit my needs better and have a much better interior than the Colorado. At this point my list is Camaro, Colorado [if they fix the interior], G8 ST or Saturn Sky. Once all are available I will choose one based on what I like and the cost of gas may also play a part in my choice by then. If I get a Camaro or Sky I would keep my present Sonoma as even at 11 Years old it is still in great shape and runs great. To be honest I still like it better than any Colorado at this point. I also would drive it in the winter. Anyways Happy holidays and "Welcome to Chears And Gears!"
  15. Ok we have a Magazine who is often wrong giving odd info. Ask Motor Trend where the new GTO is and all the wrong Vette info they always publish with the coming of every new generation. We also have a poster who likes to repeat clock sounds but never really give any real solid info. He post often seldom saying a thing. Then we have the Vice Chair of GM who says it is false. I don't think any of us need need to panic yet. How often have we had a canceled Zeta and Camaro or other GM product that is still in the works or on the market? Could Pontiac fade away in the future but so could many other cars and lines in this troubled changing market. Mr Tick Tock has a 50% chance of being right by not giving any details just like a Horoscope saying my future is bright or dark because I am a Leo. If I want vague future predictions I will read the funny page!!!! If I want better direction on where GM is going I will wait till better clear info is posted or reported. I get the feeling GM is doing a lot of moving and changing direction of some models and line due to the goverments CAFE changes. This is a far reaching problem and will effect all companies and what future products they will build and sell. We are on the edge of seeing things we never expected in the cars we drive some good some not so good but if we want to get where we are going we will deal with it. We have heard the sky is falling so many times before but performance and good cars always find a way to the market. So for now lets just take a deep breath and wait to hear some real info from a creditable person from GM. Don't let this get too far out of hand as while it could be bad news it could be no where near as bad as some think or want us to think it is. If they killed Buick Pontiac and GMC tomarrow I would be very sad but life goes on and you have to run a company with your head and not your heart sometimes. There are good and bad that would go with killing any of these lines. I for one do not expect them to go but if they do so be it. Life is too short to get to worked up over this as there are far worse things in the world to worry about. No GM at all is a far worse thing than just one car line in this adapt or die world.
  16. I too can see how it would be easy to pull the plug on these three in one respect but to kill name equity and lose that market more share would be also hard for GM to take. I to question Motor Trend as they have a record of not being accurate to a T. Could this be GM's response to the new fuel milage requirements? Pontiac, Buick and GMC do little for CAFE at near 35 mpg. If GM pulls the plug on PBG adding more Chevys will not help much. There are too many Chevys now. I will not panic till I see anything from a more reliable outlet or GM. Even then what happens, happens.
  17. Ah! To love the sound of ones own keyboard clicking. Satan was a Angel too but God was smart enough to cast him out! It seems he thought he knew more than God and Bob Lutz. :AH-HA_wink:
  18. Well I would not discount this too much yet at most RWD SRT cars come in at $40K. Besides read the update on Autoblog that I posted as a new thread the price they has was wrong and they had to raise it per Dodge stated the gas guzzler tax is over $2,000. The top line Camaro will be more as this is not the top line Challanger. The RT is coming and is going to be more money yet. The Camaro prices will shadow the Mustang very close and be about 10K less with a 430 HP on the mid priced SS. The Z28 will be in Shelby pricing area. As for the V6 it will be around the 25 K range. Only the diehard Mopar fans will spend $10,000 or more for a car like this when for 10K less you can get a mid 12 Sec Camaro or updated Mustang. Anyway Volume is the key to this car and the way that Chrysler is trating it it could becone a short term car like the Crossfire and Prowler. The new owners of Chrysler are here to make money and if they can't they will break it up. They are investment people not auto enthusiast.
  19. This is good as the GM comback is going to be done one good review at a time as well as one model line at a time. GM did not fail in one year or one model. It takes time and one step at a time. They now need to continue this with future models.
  20. Here is the latest from Autoblog on the Challangers price. Autoblog.com: One of our readers pointed us to this page over at Dodge's website that contradicted our earlier post about the 2008 Challenger SRT-8's pricing, which was originally announced at $37,995 (including the $675 destination charge). We realize that inflation is a cruel mistress, but a bump in the sticker to $40,095 left us scratching our heads. A few emails back and forth between the people at Chrysler revealed that the SRT-8 was slapped with a $2100 gas-guzzler penalty that accounted for the discrepancy in price. Not a real surprise considering the 425 hp 6.1-liter HEMI V8. As a comparison, however, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 gets a $1300 consumption penalty, even with 75 more horses under the hood. A quick search over at fueleconomy.gov revealed that if Challenger SRT-8 owners are penalized $2100, that means that they'll also only be getting between 18.5 and 19.5 mpg in the combined cycle

  22. I am glad this is going over better than I expected as it would not change a thing to complain anyway.
  23. Well it looks like the UTE is going to be a G8 ST per Autoblog reports. Here is what was posted. Mike Levine over at Pickuptruck.com has managed to scoop a tasty nugget of info about the Pontiac-branded ute that will soon be for sale in the U.S. The Aussie-import based on the same platform as the rear-wheel-drive G8 sedan will be called the G8 ST, as in "Sport Truck". That pang of disappointment you feel is the missed opportunity of paying homage to GM's most well known car-based pickups and their colorful names: the Chevy El Camino and GMC Caballero. Rather than dubbing Pontiac's ute the "Tamale" or "El Camino Redux", we get a measly little two-letter suffix. Sigh. Also of note is that the pickup will only be available with a 6.0L V8 and is likely to start around $31,000.
  24. Can't use that as Pontiac is already going to use it. :AH-HA_wink: Word is guys that it is going to be the G8 ST Here is what was Autoblog.com Mike Levine over at Pickuptruck.com has managed to scoop a tasty nugget of info about the Pontiac-branded ute that will soon be for sale in the U.S. The Aussie-import based on the same platform as the rear-wheel-drive G8 sedan will be called the G8 ST, as in "Sport Truck".
