  1. The problem with the G6 concept was it looked good with the low roof but it was too low for the average joe public. Imagine how many would have passed on it just because they did not have any head room. The 04 GP got enough compaints on that already. The worst thing on the G6 is it was too expensive when it first came out. I first saw the stickers on the first ones with the big sun roof we were at $30K for a car that was worth $23K. Also the First G6 marketing was a bust. I think if Lutz was involved with this car from the start the out come would have been much different. When he got there a lot was already done and he had little money to fix it.
  2. My whole point is the fact GM is doing a good job to make the Buick stand out from the Chevys. Buick is giving me a reason to shop them ove the present Chevys with Turbo engines and AWD etc. In this case I just think they should have done more to make the Terrain different enough to make me not car about paying more to get what I can't in a Chevy. If GMC is to be more than a Chevy than give me cause to consider it outside of just styling. GMC could still step up with engine options and some new things inside in the future. But I think they missed the boat on making the content different enough to bridge the gap between Chevy and Cadillac. I would pay more for a GMC if they would give me more. Just my view after driving and looking at these as a possible buyer in the next year. To be fair on the G6 it was the first car on that platform and the Malibu and Aura improved on it since they were newer and Lutz had more time. The only thing that the G6 had on the malibu was the options of 2 door, convert and stick. other than that it had nothing. If it did they would not have had to fire sale them as much as they did. I know too many people who bought them not because they had to have one but because they were very cheap. In many cases Cheaper than the Chevy. The G6 in my view was just not up to thew standard it could have should have been. Just my view nothing more. I guess I just epected more of the G6 than what I was offered. It just did not make the impact needed.
  3. I am by no means a Dan Fan but I kind of think in a odd way understand he is thinking and very poorly explained. I think he feels the GMC really is not offering much over the Chevy for near the same price. I myself would have liked to see the Terrain go a little more upscale and offer some things that the Nox just does not offer. Thinks like a 3.6 DI, or Turbo LNF even a Denali with the 2.8 Turbo from the Caddy. I think the terrain needs to be a little more in the middle of the SRX and the Nox by offering the best of both while not being the same. In other words give me a reason other than styling to step up from a Nox and spend the extra money when I can't afford the SRX. I have tried to love the Terrain and even the stying while not my favorite has grown on me. But to be honest I have checked this out and I can not find a good reason to pass over a Nox LTZ for this vehicle. This is a case where it is like the G6 over the Malibu. Unless you wanted a 2 door there was little reason to buy the G6 other than styling. In other words offer me things in this I want but cant have in the Nox and you might get more money out of me. Like I said I do not hate this thing but I just can't find a reason to pay more for the same thing other than styling. Just my take on this after spending time with both. The wife wants a crossover with good mileage and if we had to buy today she would pick the Nox LTZ. Note she has been driving SSEI's and a GTP for the last 12 years. Even the GTP offered things that she could not get in a Chevy that kept her wanting Pontiac. The red dash in the Terrain was not enough. To get to the point the Terrain makes a good value as a Chevy but I want more from a GMC and things I can't get from Chevy. A turbo 4 out of the Regal anyone? Something to justify me to spend more to get more. While it is not a rebadge looks wise it is a rebadge equipment wise for the most part. Give me a reason more than a chrome band on the nose and tail. GMC needs to be more of a rugged Buick like Vehicle vs Chevy Value like. Give GMC a more rugged Hummer edge in a smaller package. I think GMC needs to be aimed more at men. Ypu know the kind who want a truck but also like the feel of a more upscale car in the Acura/Buick range. At times the Terrain leaves me feeling they changed the emblems from the planned Pontiac to GMC.
  4. This is only one of many cheap upscale features they could offer to show the value in spending just a little more for a Chevy over a entry Toyota. IF they have it else where I see no reason to cut it here unless they were doing fleet vehicles.
  5. I agree I want to see what else there is. If it is a clone I will not be happy. I Expect it will be different than the Orlando based on GM's other models. Also the nose will most I expect will have some show car element to it so it is subject to change a little too. grills can come driving lights or other kinds of panels. Note the Orlando is going to change a little too.
  6. It comes down to follow the money. I suspect there is a lot more in play here. Toyota will survive but how much damage will be done before it lets up. How far does someone want this to go? The printed press has been a tool for a long time and now even most major networks are now preaching what they are told to do and no longer just report the news. We all have seen how thing fair and unfair have been played against GM. They take their weakness and use it against them everytime they are about to get back on their feet. Someone has something to gain here and the printed press as it has been used to help Toyota in the past is not being turned against them. How long till the Toronto Star turns on them? As with most things in goverment and press does it is all about power and money. Toyota has done nothing different than it has for a long time but now the blind can see. Who gve them their sight back? Lets just hope what ever is going on permits GM to take advantage of this and get some headway while Toyota is taking the hits. As we know from WWII the Japanese will not go with out a fight. They set out after WWII to take over the world finacially and they nearly did even with the lack of natural resources. But now they also have to contend with China that has the man power and resources to do what they can't. I think as with many of the world issues you can trace the money back to China. China is a lot smarter and powerful than most people realize. They also use many other countries to do what they can't like Iran, N Korea, Yemen etc. Lets face it China has a growing auto market and they hate Japan. Who has the money to attack Japan? Think of this hit as noting more than a finacial bombing raid. WW III started a long time ago and it is not befought with bombs, it is being fought in the finacial markets. Think about that the next time other countries push Cap and Trade on the USA as they polute 20 more than us. Global warming is about more than polution. This hit on Toyota is nothing more than just another battle it a larger war.
  7. The GMC is Delta II sized. Could the GMC be a little more HHR like as in different to try to retain those who that bought the HHR and Soul to avoid the appliance look? I still want to know about the car to the left behind the Malibu nose just out of this picture. It is a Caddy Sedan but what is it?
  8. On the Pioneer system it works and my Monsoon system has not been an issue. But mine just use plug in's for my Sansa Fuse and my I Phone. I know some of the New USB systems had a Chevy TSB out on the 2009 models and they were able to correct them.
  9. I have owned BBC and used to service a fleet of company trucks with 366,427,454 and 502 engines. They were abused but they always held up with little fuss. As for my own they were not the best BBC GM offered. They were not as powerful as my small bocks I built or as efficent as I would have liked but they looked good tucked under the hood.
  10. I had a neighbor with one in a Corvair. He had to install it in the backseat himself. It really was a cool ride. It may be the last truck BBC but they still build the GM Performance BBC.
  11. Well for one thing no will will be able to blame the old GM if they fail with the Ed's new blood with their new plans.
  12. This was no worse than the Prius spots that I hate. I agree the song is Catchy... annoying, but catchy. I almost think it sounds like the song Fish Head by Barnes and Barnes LOL! Good thing I am leaving now to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra to cleanse this from my head. Then when I leave the concert I will only have have visions of the Miller Beer and Lexus Christmas comercials in my head.
  13. Let let GM show us what they have before we get all worked up. They have done pretty well of late with few misses like Volt Dancers. I thik most people will be suprised and and please with what they will get.
  14. I want to know if the goverment will return the inkind share of GM it holds with each payment? Or will they wait till GM pays it all back and who ever is in charge at that time refuses to give it all back?
  15. If I were to spend that much more I would just get the Buick. This vehicle is the answer to a question that I don't think anyone asked. At $0K plus you would have to be nuts just for some extra bling. If they wanted to make it a good value it needed more HP in some form.
  16. I would watch Buick as they are in the right place for a coupe and roadster based on the Alpha. The 2+2 coupe they showed that kind of had a little Solstice targa in it was a big fat clue to what they are thinking. If it was sold as a Chevy they would have to price it too low and besides they have one two seater already does a company who is fighting back from chapter 11 need two roadsters in the same value division. Buick could sell this in the 30K-40K range make some money with that price at low volume and build it on the same line as any of the other Alpha's. They also could sell it in China and share it with Opel. This would be a prime 350 fighter or what ever Nissan has at the time. 370 I would guess? The top Buick roadter would top out just over what a stripped Vete would be. The key here is pricing, sharing of parts and sharing with several markets. Just don't make the Crossfire mistake and make it not a real performance car. The Opel V6 Turbo would be sweet at 325 HP and keep the weight under 3,000 pounds.
  17. Most I see are V6 cars and G8's from the GM auction. The autction cars would not get the rebates.
  18. I too like the Regals smaller grill and no port holes. The trend of the last coupe years with fake port holes stuck on about every kind of car with 24" wheels kinda of cheapened them.
  19. I just got an E mail from Pontiac and they are give deep discounts on all remaining Pontiac's. G6 $4500 G8 GT $4500 G5 $3500 Solstice $3500 G3 $3500 Torrent $3500 Vibe $3500 All can be had with 0% for 72 months. Sound as if you can find a G8 you can get it pretty cheap. Might not be the color you want but cheap.
  20. I love this interior with this color. I do have issues with all the buttons. I drove a new Nox with a center stack similar to this. It works fine once you know where to go but that first few times you reall have to look for what you want. I know the press will list the number of buttons as a problem. Not a deal breaker but just something people who test drive these will notice on a first drive. I will hate cleaning the little window infront of the mirror. But it would make the perfect window to smash to break in!
  21. There will be fog lamps. What they showed is a preproduction car and it is not allways 100% done when they show them. It could be as simple as the lights they plan to use in the states are not fully done yet. Till they are they are not showing them. How late into the deal did the Camaro have the little mocked up headlights that many complained about. We just need to let GM finish the car before we worry about little details. I would be more upset that the Fogs will most likely only be on the LTZ and not an option on any of the other models. Not the Bu and Nox are like this. As for the coupe. They may just be working on something special so it may be worth the wait. Let hear why and what they are doing first as it may suprise.
  22. Well I wonder how the info on the Honda CR-Z will get GM to be a little more open about a future of a hatch? I see the Honda as being prime for the market. It can be anything from a efficent econo car to a tuner car. The VW has already proven there is a market for cars like this. GM just need different sheet metal and give it a very sporty look.
  23. That is how it will work. This is why they will start a new line at Lordstown and leave the Cobalt alone till 2012. I suspect the Cobalt Sedan may go bye bye once the Cruze is out accept for fleet sales.
  24. Well they just caught up with Delorean. I don't care what they wear as long as they continue to improve product and profits.
