  1. Yep, it finally is coming on line. There should be plenty to go around soon. The key now is not to make do many they are rotting on the lots and they have to dump them on Avis.
  2. I could have given you the number of a dealer that could have got what you wanted and not even had to order it..... If the Forester was not built here it was picked up in a dealer trade as you don't order from Japan. I would not be suprised it was not a trade anyway even if it was built in this country. I think you issue is with the dealer you chose and the fact you got burned by them. This is why I was not upset to see many of the dealers go and more that should have.
  3. I think the HSV cars are what Pontiac will be. Chevys market with Holden will be service cars and a limited SS at best and nothing more. The wagon is not going to happen unless the CTS wagon does better. GM is not going to waste time on a car that does not sell. Besides the wagon does not scream performance. As in a sports car? until the sales return to be more strong in the auto market. I don't see a Solstice being brought back. Even in world numbers the Kappa was weak when sales were strong. I think a sport coupe is more of what we will see. Something more people could live with daily. A sports car could happen later.
  4. You sound like this is the first time anyone has had to wait for a ordered car. This has gone on for years at GM, Ford and Chrysler from time to time. Supplier issues, high demads for some cars, line or quality issues that needed address have done this for years. I remember a Trans Am that took 6 months due to a special seat option that was delayed by the supplier. The only reason the imports from Japan don't have these issues is that you can not get what you want and you have to take what they offer 90% of the time. Try to order a exact Subaru or Honda. They give you few choices and you don't order them from the factory. I can remember friends waiting 5 months for the right color Toyota to come in so they could buy it since they could not order it. No other dealer had it. They had to wait till the dealer called and told them they got one in. If the dealer will not go 300 miles you need a new dealer. I have had several cars come in from that far in the past in dealer trades. It was never hard for me to get them to do it if they want to sell a car bad enough. I know waiting is a pain but it is a part of life. If you want something bad enough the wait will be worth it.
  5. Not sure where you are at but a quick check of sealers in this area show 3-5 Nox on the lots. Most are LTZ or LT with a good mix of AWD and FWD. Might have the dealer do a search and bring one in if they have something close. If it is more get them to discount it. If you have a good dealer they should be willing to do this. My last car we searched up to from Ohio to NJ, NY, CT,NC, SC, VA, PA, GA, WV, JY, TN, MO, IL, IN, MI. I got what I wanted and a few extra options at no charge.
  6. Between the extra cost and added another delay to get it to market the spear can wait for the not too distant upgrades. You have to remember ths was a Saturn not all that long ago and Buick needed new product in the show room 6+ months ago as it is not next year.
  7. The ports are on the GS on top of the hood. They look silly. Remember this is a 4 cylinder car and yet it only has two per side. What happens if they do a pure electric version. Put little batteries on each side? LOL!
  8. I would like to see Buick focus on the more Luxury side. Now I don't mean floating boats of the past but the kind of cars Lexus and other have made a killing on. Then use the Pontiac name on a new GXP RWD and a AWD Torana. Then once Alpha arrives do a Pontiac version of the Holden that is based on it. The key is to keep Holden, Vauxhall and Pontiac tied together as a global unit. People will also have to accpet the fact the Pontiac will cost more and be in fewer numbers than in the past. There will only be performance cars. Pontiac in no way should try to make a car for everyone. The key will be to make Pontiac people will be willing to pay more than $30,000 for. To this point there has only been one worthy of this price and it was the G8 GXP.
  9. I assume it is the Z28 hood like from the Transformer car?
  10. The business side is it would give Buick some higer end performance cars. There will not be many Pontiac's and they would be shared with other divisions as a true golbal product. Since GMC and Olds would have a hard time sharing globally they would not be considered. I think Hummer died because of image here and so few sold overseas. Any car GM sells has to be strong in more than one market going forward. Only a few will be limited to one market. In the states the Trucks and SUV's sell well enought to make it in one market. In th end the Pontiacs would be Buicks AMG.
  11. I am just not sure where Olds would fit in with a global statagy. The auto market is not as wide and varied as it once was. I agree Olds and Buick cover much of the same ground. I am afraid Old is left to the past like Lasalle, Oakland and other retired GM names.
  12. Well I am going to take a guess at this. Pontiac once the payments are done would become a Addition to the Buick GMC line up as only performance cars. To do this Pontiac would have to be cars that have a globaL connection in some way. Holden and Vauxhall already have strong perfromance images in Europe and down under. Holden still sells Pontiac nosed cars that are popular. I could see this as a RWD Sedan with a small AWD sedan like the Opel OPC with AWD and a 325HP V6. All of these cars would be rebadged and sold in Europe the States, China and the middle east in some form. I would also see a third car a coupe be added at some point. It could be already in the works unknow to us here as this is how GM is working today. The Pontiac numbers will not be great nor will they be cheap. I would not expect anything under $30K. No matter what the new Pontiac will be a global car and will be sold world wide under one name or another depending on the market. Holden is already doing Pontiacs as special edition Holdens. If it is not real performance it will not be a Pontiac going forward. Think of this like the Special Vehicle division of Holden. That is my guess.
  13. That would be a welcome suprise! I hope GM follows trough. Any working date for the final loan payment? I know they would like to pay it off early if they can. Would one clue be the dealers already Pontiac, Buick and GMC have not been taking down the Pontiac signs. I have noticed already the dealers that have no Pontiacs on the lot here still have not removed any Pontiac signs? I would assume Pontiac as a limited performance division through Buick/GMC? Hmm could this be why the Regal is not AWD as the AWD may go to Pontiac Tuner like car. Pontiac as a AMG like arm of Buick with real performance and no need to offer anything less like a G3-5-6 etc. Himmm? I know you can't comment but I was just thinking of the many ideas you have floated in the past. Camino you still might just get you ST since they still build them with Pontiac noses. Also the fact Pontiac seems to be a hot spot for Austrailia a G8 could be a RWD perfomance car sold at a Buick dealer. I know little is known on this but the options are many if they see it through.
  14. I would not read to much into this short term. But while a few people pitched a fit over Pontiac not making a fuss over the last G6 while some of us noted it was not a funeral. GM left a big gap in the Pontiac end that would make anything possible if given the right time and place to do it. I just would not be expecting is in the near future. Things like Debt, other lines to fix and the Economy are things all needing to be sorted out. If GM can return to profitablitiy and sustain it many things could happen.
  15. Last I read in Nov the expantion of the assmebly line would not take place for six months. That may mean it will not effect the 2010 line but the 2011 line. Here was the original story. Filed under: Plants/Manufacturing , Crossover , Chevrolet , GM , GMC , Canada 2010 Chevrolet Equinox - Click above for high-res image gallery It’s early, but so far, General Motors’ 2010 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain twins are exceeding sales expectations by enough of a margin that the automaker may have to shell out some serious coin to better-align production with demand. Reuters and the Toronto Star say GM will pay $100 million loonies ($93M USD) to upgrade its CAMI assembly facility in Ingersoll, Ontario to pump out more copies of the well-received crossovers. The move comes after The General added a third shift at the facility on October 19, resulting in 350 new jobs. The plant expansion, which Canadian officials told The Star would occur over the next six months, would result in the call-back of an additional 150 laid off positions. The Equinox and Terrain were major factors in GM’s 4% year-over-year sales increase in October, as the two new crossovers accounted for 7,868 and 2,994 October sales, respectively. Gallery: Review: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox Gallery: New York: 2010 GMC Terrain [source: Reuters ] REPORT: GM to invest C$100M in Ingersoll plant to boost GMC Terrain, Chevy Equinox volume originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 09 Nov 2009 14:00:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds There was a lot of work to shut down the Suzuki line and change it over to an expanded line for the Nox and Terrain. Either way I hope you see it soon. Anything good is worth waiting for.
  16. I think they made the connection when they moved ahead with plans to expand the plant to build more NOX. I don't think they ever expected them to take off this well. If I read correclty Sales are well over 135% over last years sales already. That is not counting the GMC sales. The Camaro has been running full too and limited due to delays in getting tires from Brazil.
  17. I just looked at the 2010 model and it needs replaced yesterday. It was a good car a few years ago but it has been passed up for several years now. Anyone who walks out with the Lucern over the Lacrosse either had to get a hell of a deal or is insane.
  18. Look great I just wish they could have solved the little things like getting the roof in the back.
  19. It is all about those 5 star ratings baby!! The cheaper and heavier the car the thicker the pillars. The can make them thin but it will cost you. Even the Fire Rescue crews complain that the new cars roof are so much harder to remove that rescue times have increased. The Jaws of lIfe just can't ge through like they used too.
  20. I got to spend some time in the Lacrosse. I am not a big Buick fan nor Lacrosse but I was very impressed with the car and the price that was on it. While hit was not the loaded model it was by far one of the nicest GM interiors I have been in. The car was very well equipt and looked like a car near $40K and this one was a special Cleveland dealers edition that was at $31K sticker. Front seat room could be a little more but the rear was great. I had more leg room than many of GM's past full size cars. This car is a good value and will do well if GM can get people to look at it.
  21. I got to take a short drive in a Hydrogen Fuel cell Equinox Saturday. This was my first chance to try a electric GM product. While it was powered by a Hydrogen electric fuel cell it gave me some idea of what to expect of acceleration of the electric drivetrain that is not the same but similar in many respects to the Volt. The torqe is like right now. I spun the tires into the traction control and it did not stop till I lifted down the track. It had plenty of pep. It was dead quiet accept for a little electric motor noise that a radio would cover easy. The dash has a meter to show electric use vs a tach. Coasting it would show the regenerative power going back in. These cars are several years old now and GM has made many advances since. I never thought I would see one of the 100 built but they had several on hand and I was impressed. If they as I am sure they have improved on this for the Volt it will make a pleasent driving car that does not feel or react like a golf cart. The one advantage of the Fuel Cell is there was no extra weight so the car did not have to deal with the weight penalty the battery cars do. Too bad GM could not get companies to invest in hydrogen filling stations to make this a viable option. In stead of these high speed trains [in Ohio that means a average speed of 49 MPH] they want to put in the goverment could build a distibution system to supply this kind of vehicle. Several companies could start building these cars soon if they has a place to refill.
  22. Also Ed Hamburger was there and it was anounced GM will offer the SLP Camaro through the dealers like the old SS and Firehawk deal. It looks like SLP and Chevy have kissed and made up.
  23. You could let it go and let the doors wedge in if you don't park on level ground. I drove a Mustang like that once.
  24. I was able to hear from Al Oppenheiser yesterday and here are some of the things non majore he related. The new Camaro convertible is in winter testing. Yes even with the roof down. He noted they are adding some more structure to the car and it will be nearly coupe like. He said no one should be disapointed in the chassie stiffness. He noted they are building Camaro's as fact as they can but have run into tire supply issues. It seems the Tires come from Brazil and are flown to Canada to arrive in time. They are conflicted with air transposts of Brazil exported fruit. GM is working with the Brazilian goverment to make sure to keep the tires coming. Sales for the Mustang rallies to beat the Camaro for the year last year even with only 66,000 units of the Mustang sold. Al said that they found with a little digging that the Polk numbers for December sales that Ford dumped a lot of Mustangs in fleet sales to help their numbers beat the half year sales of the Camaro. Al stated they were on track to take the lead again with normal sales of the Camaro. He did not comment on new 2011 model Mustangs sales. Not any big news but at least some news in the dead of winter.
