  1. In this day and age of big goverment here is the latest we are facing in Ohio. Senate bill 204 is proposing that would let GM dealers sell other makes and modelin in their show rooms. It also would prevent independent repair shops and private owners from buying GM parts to repair thier own cars. Read on to the story below. General Motors is launching an ad campaign in Ohio to argue that pending legislation there could hurt GM's turnaround. General Motors says the bill, SB 204, which the Ohio Senate is considering next week, would allow auto dealers to sell foreign-made vehicles on the same dealer lots with GM cars and trucks; would prohibit GM from selling its auto parts to 6,000 businesses in Ohio, including Goodyear, Valvoline, Tuffy and local body repair shops; would force GM to pay the rent on dealership properties that have been closed because of fraudulent activities or the voluntary actions of dealers; and would halve the time that GM is allowed to perform quality control audits of dealerships to prevent fraud and ensure sound business practices. The first ad will run in the The Youngstown Vindicator on Sunday. The ad touts the 1,200 new jobs GM will be adding at its Lordstown Complex to build the new Chevy Cruze and raises objections to the several provisions in SB 204.--Karl Greenberg Beware as even as our goverment has been working to save GM they are working to kill in in other respects. Note how the President has also stepped up the attack on trucks and SUV with even higher mileage requirements again. for 2017-2025. Either way the 204 bill is not well known in Ohio so I can expect it was not well known anywhere else. I hope to think it has little chance of passing but to take away you right to buy the repair parts and make your own repairs with OE parts is a crime. I would hate to think I would have to drive to PA to buy my parts for my car.
  2. I was not speaking of Ed kool aide, I was going by you past post in the Pontiac thread. I just thought the loan you were speaking of was the up coming pay off that has just past. So you really mesn after the loan pay off, IPO and then the buy back of the 61% and it is still a big if. The goal for the buy back is still 2014-2015 if all goes as planned? Ed is the worst person to get any car related info from. The only info I get is watching the cars and designes behind him in the commercials. Thanks for the GM speak on the Impala! Sounds as with the changes in the FWD Impala and the Orlando kill there is some kind of a shake up for the future plans at Chevy with more changes coming? Or is this also another case of the Jury is still out and pending like the Pontiac deal?
  3. Here is a question no one here has asked and I am sure PCS is not able to answer yet. If we get a Chevy Impala SS - 6.2L LS3 V8, Chevy Caprice LT - 6.0L L76 V8 (361 hp) (415 hp) between 2011-2014 what does this mean about the future FWD Impala for 2013-2014? Is the Malibu and Zeta going to take it's place? Is going to be a different name? Just something to consider. Also should we still be watching for The big plans and ideas hinted in the Pontiac thread now that the loan is paid off or has the plan changed? I know much can not be said but we could use a little GM speak at a hint.
  4. I would vote for the second option. I see little need for a LS with less than 300 HP. Make a LT with a V6 LT1 and V8 LT2 and then the big gun Impala SS. What I wouild like to see is a option package like the LTZ available with the LT but package it like the RS packlage that can be added to the Camaro LT or in this case SS. Make it an added option styling package for those who want the extra cost trim and things like halo lights etc bigger wheels etc. I hope they would wait till the new Zeta interior so there is less comparison to the G8. Not that it would be a bad car to compare it too but I would hate from marketing stand point to have a new Chevy compared a car they just killed. Let the Chevy stand on it's own. The Sixteen would be great but I would expect a V8 and a shorter hood?

    What if...

The leaf could still have many problems. Electical issues in cars today are the #1 complaint. Most often the mechanical bit rarely fail. You will eleiminate the engine issues and nothing more on the Leaf nothing more. Bearings hubs, shocks, body control mods are going to be the same. On the other hand the Malibu battery is cheaper to replace and rarely has one had engine issues. With the lower price it makes it easier to pay for a repair out of warranty. Besides how many days would it take to drive a Leaf to CA from NY if you wanted too? Where you you plug it in?
  6. 5-6 sec 0-60 in base trim is enough as that fits the target market. Also MPG will be important in the not too distant future. Now on the V it needs to be around 4-4.3 sec 0-60. The Cadillac just as Audi and BMW needs to have standard models as well as the performance. BMW and Audi sell a lot of regular powered sedans driven by people who want just a well built premium car and do not care if it carves a canyon. They offer the M series and other performance variants just for this reason. On of GM's best engines is a LNF 2.0 and it can be tuned to 300 HP with outstanding mileage. It would make a great engine in this car for it's class. Now I would in no way put a 2.2 in. We too often here forget the Luxury Euro cars are everything to everyone over there just as Cadillac is to North America. Too often we only see the high level trim and performance models here and forget they use the same car with less power trim for a family sedan or as a Taxi in Munich. As it is I would expect the Turbo V6 in the V and maybe a non turbo V6 as an option in the standard trim with a Turbo 4 as a base engine.
  7. Might take a look at what is in the driveway and that may be why you have no lines. It should be out shortly. We do get the copies early but not too far ahead. I expect a 4, 4 Turbo and a Turbo V6. Just don't expect a V8 till the CTSV is moved over.
  8. Based on what I have already seen and many of the hints they have given us. The money back Ed Whitacker ad has a car that looks like it in clay behind the Malibu clay nose. The nose is very similar to the blue in the same comercial we already know what it looks like. The only thing that may come into play it the rear roof line may be a little more slanted based on the clay car seen in the comercial. I think they hit it pretty close based on available info and knowing it is not going to be a Revolutionary design. Either I state pretty accurate not exact or perfect. Look for yourself in the coming weeks and be the judge.
  9. Sorry I can't copy it out of work due to security. So find you own copy.
  10. The keys to this car is the Eco turbo drivetrain and the well tuned suspension. This driveline is killer and for anyone who has not driven it needs to get behind the wheel. It changed my mind on Small Turbo engines forever. GM has also found out how to tune a cars suspension as to make it ride very well and still handle excellet on pavement in the real world and not just on the Black Lake. GM for too long tried to slap large bars, bigger tires and stiffer springs so that it would pull a big G on the skid pad only to leave us bouncing around in the real world trying to keep it on the uneven road. My SS shows what GM can do and has made a very satisfying car to drive. Now it is made better by putting this kind of tuning and engine in a better car with a better interior. GM has finally built the car they have pretended to build for years with this car. I just hope the public will forget all the T type crap we have had to give this car a real chance. This is the car that can move butts from a Acura or low end Audi into an American [ehh part Canadian/German] car. So if you have not driven a new GM Turbo you need to. This is one of the best engines GM has ever built. Yes Ever.
  11. I got an electronic advanced copy of Automobile magazine. It has a pretty accurate ilitration of the new ATS. Small C pillar and short Deck lid are the two new suprises. The rear deck look like a CTS coupe. It also stated it will be a powered by high out put small displacement engines one with a turbocharged power. They said it will pull no punches and will be aimed directly at the BMW. V series will be included. The magazine has a good interview with Tadge Juechter of the Vette team. He did not give any direct comments on what they will do but made it clear everything is on the table and changing traditional things is one of them. The car will get what is going to be best for for it. Also 7-8 speed trasmissions are not alwasy the answer in some applications.
  12. I have many friends in the NIFE group and see many names on the list I know. I am glad they are doing it this way an not making some crazy protest out of this. It shows some class. But this is not the first ending Pontiac Fiero owners have been through. I wonder if I registered under John Delorean with a 64 GTO anyone would notice. lol!
  13. I have run into crazy things like this on customer projects. But I am sorry to say most are just self inflicted mistakes, Cute story and it is fine here as there is little other Pontiac new going on. At this Point Pontic has become a lounge.
  14. Glad it was wotrth the wait. I would hate to see her hate it after waiting.
  15. The added MPG is not just a perk to those who buy performance cars anymore it is life and death of a performance car anymore. Everything has to show an inprovment in MPG to keep the cars coming. The MFG are doing all they can to gain every single MPG they can. Right now smaller engines no matter the cylinder count and less wieght are the first moves and then we get into the expensive hybid stuff that they will have to resort to in do time. So the companies are not trying to use more MPG as a selling point in the V class as it is more trying to use it as a point to keep the breed alive. I just don't think the general public really understands what kind of cars are coming and how much some of them will cost to go fast. Now on the other hand Benz, BMW and Porsche have been pushing the green agenda in Europe as the Geen Party is very strong over there and has many supporters. This point is something GM needs to think about if they plan to push Cadillac in Europe again. Just look at all the green ideas the German companies are pushing today. The new 918 is the one that will make a big impact on performance brands as it's technology trickles down into the other 9 series cars like the 959 did. Ferrari also has one coming too.

    What if...

If I come home late at night with a lot of things to unload and the car is covered in snow at 10 degrees. I would have no issue driving on gas to work the next day. Lets face it few people check oil anymore. As for maintenance there is getting to be so little anyway Stainless exhaust seldom need changed One of my cars is 25 year old with the original on it. Nothing to lube No tranny dip stick or oil to change, 100,000 mile plugs if you choose to go that long. Other than old changed about 8,000 miles and fuel air and cabin filters there is little to do other than refill the washer fluid and change the tires and brakes in the first 5 years. Most GM cars do not use timing belts. To be honest I have seen most people just drive the car well over 100,000 miles on nothing but oil changes and never have an issue. I had one guy who had his first oil change years ago at 70,000 miles. He said he bought it for economy and that is what did to save money. It went well over 250,000 with nary an engine issue some how. The frame rusted in half...... Yes it was a Toyota. My question is all that money you save on oil changes etc would that pay for a fail battery out of warranty?

    What if...

GM has already stated they had these to deal with and will address them. I have heard they were looking ast several things including the engine running after so many miles. Also I heard they had considered a tank that would add something similar to stabil from time to time too. I expect most of these cars will see engine time as most people will not plug them in ever time out. If it is cold or raining they will say I will do it the next time I drive it. That is not an option with the leaf.
  18. Even though I expect you to vote V8 I am proud to see you are at least thinking about it and not just in a rush to check a box. Thank you for at least keeping an open mind.
  19. Most of the industry is going to small engines and OHC. It is not going to be just another DOHC engine or twin turbo as technology is advancing on all of them at a fast rate. Many new things are being applied and there will be a race to see who can come up with the best, most powerful and economical engines. No one just said it was just anothe V8 back in the 60's when they made up 84% of the market. They all marketed the tech features and advancements to seperate them. We still have Ford Chevy wars just on v8 engines alone reguardless of what car it is in. Technology and how it is marketed will make or break who has the best engines. Right not the Ecoboost has the upper hand on marketing. This is about a lot more than just engineers.
  20. GM and most other OHC engines have few failures anymoe. GM no matter what engine has a great record right now on drivetrains.
  21. 4 Eco Turbo and TT 3.6 for the ATS and leave the V6 and V8 for the larger CTS. If there is a V8 at all. The key with the TT turbo is technology sells in this class. People who buiy these cars like the exotic things. The Chevy V8 by many no matter how good is still a Chevy truck V8. We know that it is good but the snobs you need to buy this car need to get something they will think is a cut above and not something you will find under the hood of a truck. Image and not just real world performance means a lot to non GM fans and needs to be considered. There are may who dis the CTSV because of the engine. Yes a very good engine still gets snubbed by many who drive German cars.
  22. Sorry, I was not thinking that side of the lake.
  23. For now. I had never seen them list one before so I suspect they will add the RWD car when it gets time.
  24. If it is like the LTZ Bu it may be lower volume but not what I would call hard to find. Also if it is like the Bu the LT2 loaded is a much better value than the LTZ. For the most the LTZ amounts to a few extra options that really are not much and some extra chrome. The BU we bought has everything the loaded LTZ had we looked at accept a sun roof, power passenger seat, power inverter rear window shade and fog lights. We got everything else it had for about $4,000 less including the 18" wheels and V6 with dual exhaust and leather interior.
