  1. This came to me today. It looks like GM will require new oil in 2011 cars. It is imperative that every GM Dealer develop a dexos1™ implementation plan and have dexos1™ product available as soon as possible. 2. I expect stories like these and critics to attack GM hard as companies like Toyota have a lot invested in the Prius and not much in anything else. They can not afford for the market to shift. I truly think Honda and Toyota will do anything to market against the Volt as to not have to invest money in a new system. There worst fear is the people take to the Volt system as it would undo everything they have.
  3. A Cruze hybrid appeal would have been limited at best and not cost $20K. What GM has done is only the start. Remember the first calcualtors did not do as much and cost a lot of money back in the 70's. In time what used to be $100 is not $1. The Volt is not the end of the road but the begining. Also GM if need be can dump the engine and add more batteries into the Volt. But I just do not see a large enough market to prove this would be needed. The key with the Volt is to sell a system and start companies working on the pieces and parts to make better electric cars. If the Leaf and Volt are all the better GM could do than why bother. The key now is for GM to keep with this and advance this. Too often they are first with new technology and only drop it till someone else advances it. If someone would advance the Hydrogen filling stations and a way to speed refilling Hydrogen is also very viable. I drove a Hydrogen car not long ago and was very impressed with the performance. The only real issue was like the Leaf and could I get to a place before I run out of energy. To copy the Prius would not advance technology much in any way. GM would be better off just doing a Cruze diesel.
  4. Lies, damn lies and statistics. GM needs to be clear when they address this car and to the point. That will eliminate the others from confusing the issue. Marketing this car right will make this work for GM if not others will market against it and kill it. We or most of us here know GM does not expect this car in every garage. Other wise they would plan on building a lot more. GM needs to address who this car is for and how well it will fit their lifestyle. They need to forgo tying win the guy with the Tahoe. We already have seen Honda and Toyota market against this car. If they were not concerned that this kind of system was not good and attractive to the public they would have just wanted GM to go in the wrong direction and waste their money. The others have already spent a lot of money in their own systems and worry the go anywhere Volt system will make sense to many who want this kind of car. The only thing not on GM's side right now is price but that too will change in time.
  5. For some the numbers will never be good enough. I figure if GM can get 290 HP out of 2.0 liters and still find 31 MPG highway in a 3200 pound vehicle they will be able to still have respectable numbers with the Volt. No matter the numbers they will improve in the near future. The Gen one is only the first step. Two and three are not far behind.

  7. So many car on the road with worn tires and bad brakes and they worry about this? I remember years ago getting into a old GP and there was a hole in the floor from the seat to the brake pedals. I put my feet on the ground like Fred Flintstone and yelled at my buddy to look. There are way too many of these kinds of cars to worry about legal tail lights.
  8. This is a prime example of the failure of our court system. I hope she does not find out the Fiero came with a tinted neutral lens and had the reflectors in the bumper. She would declair it unfit as will as some Trans Ams too.
  9. My point is that it has been a long time there has been two Buick one could like to have a hard time to choose. Or of late we have really not had many Buick cars to choose from anyway.
  10. When was the last time anyone under 60 said that about a Buick?
  11. You need to remember those who do not understand you have to drink Kool Aid as they have laws that prevent Pepsi and Coke in the goverment buildings in SF now. I have to agree it is pretty much law and order there, have you seen some of the laws they have? I hope you like gold fish in Frisco and don't want a cat or dog since they want to prevent anyone from buying them in the city limits. On look at the SEMA site and the California and CARB regs are crazy. These same laws are adopted by other states by elected officals that can't even check their own oil. They have no clue what they are voting on often and just do as they are told. I agree there is room and needed room for both sides on this. No one wants to kill the air but we also have to live and keep our jobs. We all are not going to be supported by the Green Job myth. What is going on in Cali is what is going to happen everywhere if no one checks the spending. The sad part is they CA files Bankruptcy they will come to the rest of the country to bail them out. I am done as the facts speak for themselves and this has nothing to do with the Regal.
  12. True many are weak but California is to the other extreme. There is a fine balance out there and few find it. In California's case they have never tried to hear both sides and work out a good balance that would set a standard for the entire country. Until buisness and Gov learn to work together there will be a lot more brown fields and crazy laws to go around. Either way we will in time get the remote start and I have seen the second Regal in the wild. I did not like the grill to start with but I now like it and it makes the car stand out in a good way compared to the look alike asian cars out there. God knows it is better than the Acura Metal Jack o Lantern face. The styling is good and not Benz cartoonish like the Sonata. It is a car German car fans and Saab buyers should be attracted too.
  13. I agree with the above. California is in a place where the car companies could not just tell them to take a hike like they could with a Idaho. The industry needs the money California supplies and they know it. I feel for the Companies right now as they have the EPA driven by the present admin on one side and CARB on the other. Too often both will not work with the indystry for answeres and just deals out goals that are not realistic with present technology. California had the mandate for zero emissions cars a few years back and found they had to flinch at their own mandate when no one could meet them. It would be nice it they all could work together to resolve these issues and still keep customers happy. I am affreaid what things may look like in 20 years. I see the issues on the after market side first hand. My company has had issues with everything from fuel jugs to Gas blenders. Yes Gas Blenders.
  14. Yes just speculation based on the way of thinking in California and Carb. I do know several states have looked at banning drive throughs too but no one has passed the law yet. It is just examples of the kind of thinking we are facing.
  15. There is no reason to change those things here. There just was no reseason to tool up for a small amount of cars being built over a limited time when they were moving production anyway. GM has kept the cars coming in simple and will att content once they get here. Colors and material will not change.
  16. Relax as GM will get it to you soon enough. THey are only importing the first year and only one model. We will get more options and more models next year. GM I think was just getting the jump on this car since Buick needed more than one car and they did what they had to do to make it come a little sooner. The people you should aim the venom at are the progressive green people. Some are resonable but many are extreemist and will do what they can to bring changes evern some crazy ones. Either way the Buick will get the remote soon.
  17. Did a quick check and in most places in Germany it is not legal to leave a car running with no one in it. Other countries have time linits on how long it can idle. Also in parts of Germany they are now trying to get people to shut off engines at stop lights. Yes in some areas it is that extreem. The auto laws over there are very harsh with emissions and safety. We have safe cars here in America but look just at the pedestrian crash laws in Europe alone. They are now talking about air bags for the hood to keep from killing the guy who walks out in front of you.
  18. Our green friends don't see it that way. They do not like you sitting in line for Wendys or the bank with the engine in idle. So with that you can be sure they do not want you to warm up your car in the AM either. They look at it like this, most new cars can get up to temp very fast and they see no reason for warm up. But then they often have a very distorted veiw of the world and real life anyway. I am for clean air but I also am for a little common sense too. Often the tree huggers lack this gene. Our tree huggers here are very conservitive compared to over there. The are to the point they have their own politcal candidates. They build these cars in Germany for the American market and could have added this option for the US bound cars just as easy as adding the Buick Grill. I suspect it is just due to the short time they will build them there and we will get it once they are built in Canada. Either way I expect it about the time we get the GS.
  19. The first thing that crossed my mind was iding. The green movment is very stong in most of Europe vs here. The car companies live in fear of it over there. This is why Porsche and Ferrari are looking at Hybrids. A little for PR and a lot for survial. I suspect in time we will see the same things here. They have already mentioned killing drive throughts so I see Remote start under attack in states like California soon. The Goverment will be the first to attack it with their Cap and Trade related regulations.
  20. I saw on in black in the wild two days ago and it is the first Buick since the GN that has caught my attention. Buick should do real fine with this car. I has the looks to draw people in and at least take a look and drive it. That should be enough to help them sell plenty. More options will hit once production moves to Canada. The remote start I would expect will be added there. Is there anything in Europe that would prevent remote start there?
  21. With fuel MPG regs that are coming there will be more smaller cars than we have ever seen. Size will not be much different but I think level of options qulity will seperate them more than anything.
  22. Better look within. The outline of the body, the left side ingnition and engine location is the same not much else. I think you will find little has been left unchanged from up date to update. The Germans often fix things that are not even wrong for better or worse.
  23. As for informed. That is a 50-50 shot. With the lower cost of the car often it falls into hands of those who buy for name only. The Vette owners I deal with daily are the best and the worst people to deal with. Like the Saudi who called to find out what he could get to keep his Z06 from spinning out. It took everything I had not to tell him to get off the gas. LOL! Some are the best informed and the other half are just buying for image. This is not unlike most sports cars as they all get this. All I ask is it wrong to make what we have better in the needed areas? I in no way ever said reinvent. Just make what you have better. As far as I am concerned I never wanted to see a Mid Engine car.
