  1. I agree that they did less than I expected with this model. But the Arcadia is not the only wall the SRX also is an issue here. If they add too many features and drive the price up too much people will just move to the SRX. GMC has to play that ever changing middle ground till GM evolves Cadillac and Chevy to the places they will be. Once Cadillac transforms into the higher end product they want it will expand the area Buick and GMC has to play in. I think they needed to add things like duel zone climate control and make the read entertainment option standard. They needed to add standard features not just more chorme. I still ponder if they will eliminate the SLT option and just replace it with the Denali. Or even yet just ofter the SLT 1 and replace the SLT2 with the Denali. I am just glad they did not over do the outside and make it look a little too tarted up. They already have a very tasteful use of chome and I hate to see them muck it up. More is not always better. The question on buying the Denali is will it be worth the price to get the 3.6 as other than the chome you can get the rest for the most on the present car. If they make the 3.6 available on the SLT then there is no way it would be worth a premium just for the lighted rockers plates.
  2. If they make one of those concepts they showed this year, it will be the Code 130R, not the warmed over Mitsu Eclipse methinks. I must say this is the most popular NASCAR thread I have ever seen here. Give em a shot a new RWD model and it brings in the comments. LOL! Where is Blu? Someone mentioned the130 and he did not chime in how much he liked it. Is he sick or in jail? LOL!
  3. With the import issues they have had the PPV could find its way to Canada very easy. It also would keep the volume up on the Camaro line since they could share lines.
  4. I would rather have had the money they invested in this in a little better material on the door panel. The dash has a nice feel to it. The door panels look nice but they are a little hard in the plastic department. Over all the interior is a very comfortable enviroment. The rear sonic back up is ok. It may save my wife. The Video camera is more of a novalty to me. I just feel more comfortable with the mirrors. I just thank God GM has not gotten into to this auto park crap. If you can park a car you should not be behind the wheel.
  5. Great I just buy one on Tuesday and they anounce this the next day. That is ok I have been keeping up with this and while the improvments are nice I have many of these same options in the new one already. The extra Chrome and wood means little to me. The engine would have been nice but I am sure the price mark up will make my 3.0 just fine. To be honest I have had no issue with the present engine as it does what it needs to do in this kind of vehicle. To me this is really not a vehicle I would want to turn into a performance vehicle. It is nice but it is very heavy. GM has much better vehicles they could invest in and make into a performance vehicle. Even with the 301 HP the numbers will not be much higher than what the 3.0 already is. If you note the SRX times they represent similar numbers to the gain in performance. Either way I feel it is a smart move for GMC here as while I too hate the Denali everything this should prove to be a very profitable model. Adding a lot of low cost add ons to a very popular vehicle and charging a much greater price should bring in a good amount of income for GM's already profitable line. I went out for a spin last night and the more I drive it the more I find how much more of a Luxury feel this has. It feels much more upscale than it is. The Nox I drove were the LT versions and they just did not have the same feel about them. They felt good but not as upscale. I expect the LTZ would feel more like mine. FYI the Collision Alert was the first thing we shut off. Anoying little bastard! I need to check into it as I think you can adjust it. This thing was going off on the narrow back roads even if you did not cross a line.
  6. All I said was - That would be pretty cool, especially if the Ute and Wagon were offered too - I didn't say GM would be out of their mind if they didn't offer the wagon or ute, nor did I say GM sucks for not bringing over the wagon and ute too. I was having a moment of hope, especially for the ute (though I would dump the Envoy for a wagon in a heartbeat! ). I know and don't expect the wagon or ute to arrive on our shores any time in the near future I know what you ment my comment was for the less sane here. I will be shocked if the CTS wagon makes it to the next gen. I read raves on them in the magazines but I see so few on the road. The Chevelle was just as much a sedan or wagon as it was a coupe. The fact is they already have a Zeta coupe at Chevy so why duplicate the product again? If your have to do another coupe send it to Buick.
  7. I really don't see a conflict with a Impala FWD V6 and a limited RWD sport sedan in a short Zeta platform. They are two different cars for two different kinds of buyers. It is a win win to me when offered like this. As for the Chevelle name they made more 4 doors than two doors back in the day. You just see so few as no one restores the sedans. While it may have never been offered in a 4 door SS there is no reason it could not be today since 4 door sport sedans dominte the market. Besides do you really need another Zeta coupe at Chevy? The extra bulk of a Caprice in a performance car that is already heavy would be a turn off to most enthusiast. God knows we hear it enough on the Camaro alone. The smaller platform would be the way to go and the G8 GXP is the pattern. Imagine a more powerful DI V8 with VVT and the magnetic shocks. Either way this will be a $38-50K car. Yes it will be expensive but it will come loaded and I suspect it to be a lot more car than the GXP was. Trust me it will be priced where no Impala will go. It will be between the Camaro SS and the ZL1 in price. Think of it as a CTSV at Chevy value.
  8. I will try to get some photos and post the in the next few day our early feeling on the vehicle. I must say there is not a single flaw yet. I waxed it last night and the paint and chrome is flawless. I could not even find any interior part out of place or marred. Very good initial build quality.
  9. While I am suprised buy the news of the Impala being replaced in NASCAR I am not supriced by the news of a new RWD Sports Sedan. This is the car Al Oppenhiser spoke of a while back and said would arrive in 2013 as a 2014 model. Based on past statments from Al and others at GM this is kind of what to expect. Zeta based but updated and a little lighter. DI V8 as this is why it has not already arrived as Chevy has been waiting for the new engine. It will be the short wheel base car. It will be more like the G8 GXP and be a V8 performance sedan with no V6 option. I have heard all the names like Chevelle, Monte Carlo, Bel Air and others. Al said a while back the name was already chosen and ready to be used. I expect a traditional name and I hope it may be retro but I hope it is a suprise. Some in GM have been calling this the 4 Door Camaro so that should give an idea of the performance. Imagine it with the magnetic shock! Do not expect a Coupe, Wagon or Ute unless they have really changed their thinking here. Also expect the production to be limited. I had heard at one point they only planed around 10,000 and no more than 20,000 units. This could be changed since that was stated a long time ago. Either way I don't see this selling in numbers larger than the G8 if gas remains high. Now this is a guess on my part but if they are having issues getting the police package here and the poor exchange rate could this car finally be Canadian? The Camaro line is set up to where they can build more than one car. The only real issue is if the 2015 Camaro is on time where will that one be built? This sedan could take the old Camaro line and keep working too. THe police package also could be moved there. As for Nascar this is no more production than the present car. While it will have a few features and decals to make it look closer they all will still be of similar profile and changes will be made to keep the aero numbers close. But they will look a lot better on the track than the present cars. I am really shocked GM is going with a more performance like car of lower volume vs the high volume cars like they have been using. This car also may be part of the reason they kept the Camaro out of NASCAR. Just one look at the Nationwide Mustang tells me they made the right choice. I am very happy to see that the car remained on track to make it to production. With GM going dark on the car made wonder if it had been killed or if they were just remaining quiet. It is hard to read GM's moves anymore.
  10. Here is what is up. GM claims a lack of 2.4 vehicles but in shopping the Terrain of later I never had a issue finding one. I am wondering if they are worried they may run out later this year before they switch to the 2.5 next year? Also there are lot of V6 models still stilling around but they still seem to be moving. We have shopped Nox and Terrain sice 2010 we have found finding them in good supply with either engine difficult. This is why GM has not offered much on these vehicles in the way of rebates. Often to get the one you needed you would have to order it if by chance you did not find it. We started looking again as supplies are up and even the dealer told us there on more available now than ever. This gave us a better deal where he came off MSRP by $5,000 on our SLT-2. We just bought ours Staturday as that is how I found the money off. I have driven them all and the 4 does a good job but you do have to rev it. I have also noted the V6 needs to rev some too. We may pull a small trailer so we opted for the 6 as it get about the same MPG as the GP did. GM went for more room vs craming a 3rd seat in the back for small children or two amputees. The Rear seat in this vehile is not just larger but much larger than anything in class. I think GM just expects if you want a 3 seat you would move to the Lamda who has one of the best 3rd seats on th emarket. GM need to shrink the next gen some on this vehicle and remove weight. They will be in great need to find more MPG soon so I expect this is what is behind the smaller thinking. Either 4 or V6 are good in this car but they both leave you wanting a little more power. I condsidered the Tubo 4 might be offered as an option but till they lose weight I figure the Turbo would also suffer poorer MPG due to the weight. My SS does really well MPG wise but it also is only 3200 LBS vs the Terrains 4,000 LBS. Just picked it up last night and so far we love it. The Intellalink system so far seem nice and I love the new 7" video screen. As for the Nox and Terrain it is in a middle class of it's own. It offers things for the Rav4 and Patriot buyers but it also offers things the Sorento and Edge buyers look for. Note we looked at a loaded Edge and it was something like $42,000 loaded. A nice car but not worth that much more over the GM model. Our Terrain is like a less expensive SRX for the most as it has most of the same options and features the more expensice SRX has. The Cadillac does have a better AWD system it you do have the needs but the GMC offered many of the more expensive features the others do not have.
  11. Hey now wait a cotton-picking minute there mister!! I've bought four vehicles from a semi-local GMC dealership - 2 GMCs, 1 Pontiac, and 1 Buick (used) and have felt I could have received no better treatment. Now as for my two Chevrolet purchasing experiences (and numerous test drive visitations), I felt as if I needed a shower afterwards to get "clean". But we could have had different experiences in the long run. I have no hesiatation dealing with my semi-local Buick-GMC dealership The Dealer here was a new GMC Pontiac dealer they built in a near by farm town. 2 years later Pontiac folded and left them in need of a new car line. They had a deal with GM to take the local Buick line from the local old Buick dealer that needed a new building and to relocate. The Buick dealer was getting forced out with the GM cuts and would also lose the Chevy line. My dealer said that when the goverment came in they lost the Buick line one month before they would have gotten it. So now they are working out a deal to try to buy the Buick line away from the Chevy dealer. I can see why GM has such a hard time dealing with the dealer network with the Goverment laws out there. GM is stuck with a really old building with two car lines away from the highway and a new dealer on the highway selling only GMC. Note the Buick and Chevy dealer is a old building and dealership but the owner has only had it for about 10 years. He bought out someone else a while back. As far as I have seen he has made no moves to upgrade his dealer and does not look to be doing so. Either way it has been years since I saw a dealer that only sold the GMC line. In fact it was back when they still sold Semi Cabs that I could recall one like that here. Anyways it is nice to be back into GMC again as this will be my third that I owned. I also have a lot of miles in two Sierra Grande Pickups like the Rocky had on The Rockford Files.
  12. Well I will start a long term road test on the 2012 GMC Terrain on Tuesday. Or should I say my wife will. We just bought her a new 12 Terrain SLT-2 in Mocha Steel with all the options including the 19" wheels less AWD. We have been checking them out for a while. We started looking at the Nox but delayed it as we moved and did some building at the new home. Now that we have gotten through winter we went out to check on what we could do on a deal for a Terrain. Neither of us liked the Terrain when it came out but the larger wheels filling up the wheel;wells made made us take interest. We got a pretty good deal at of all things a GMC only dealer. Bet you don't see many of them anywhere. They will pick up our Terrain on Monday and we will pick it up on Tuesday. I will pass along info on how the ownership goes and quality. We are replacing the 04 GTP. We have 107,000 miles on it. It was a good car but I would have to refrain from ever calling it a great car. Reflecting back the car has had some great points. Even at 107,000 miles there is nary a rattle in the car but it always had that cluck in the trunk sound you the GP was know for from the day it was new. We did have some nagging issues that I feel were due to the lack of development money back in the day where GM has to short cut there way out. Things like headlights that bounce cheap interior etc. I was able to keep it in great shape and may have been able to sell it for a little more but the trade they gave me was way over book even after I made my deal on the GMC. I will miss the GTP but I think I will enjoy the GMC very much. Please note that the dealers with the Nox and Terrain are dealing much on price. I did get a dealer to give me MSRP and then employee pricing. We also then got the Chome tech package that kicks $500 off and then there was $1000 on the V6. He then gave me a little more on a few other things. in the end with tax and trade we got the $35,000 SLT-2 for $25,000. Few other dealers would even come close to it and were not willing to talk. I expect they may offer more on the Terrain later as supplies on it and the Nox are now getting to good levels but even yet it is difficult to find some combo's. The Mocha Steel and Brownstone interior in 2WD with all the options was not an easy find. But one was close and they will trade for it. I will post photos when we get it. Note I love the new touch radio package GM is using. I think I heard it will be a standard on some models next year that have it as an option this year.
  13. Pontiac Solstice GXP 260 lb-ft ( 353 Nm ) @ 2500 - 5250 rpm SAE CERTIFIED Saturn Sky Red Line 260 lb-ft ( 353 Nm ) @ 2500 - 5250 rpm SAE CERTIFIED Chevrolet HHR SS ( Automatic transmission ) 222 lb-ft (301 Nm) @ 1650 rpm SAE CERTIFIED Chevrolet HHR SS ( Manual transmission ) 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) @ 2000 rpm SAE CERTIFIED Chevrolet Cobalt SS ( Manual transmission ) 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) @ 2000 rpm SAE CERTIFIED This is the info provided when the LNF came out. The HHR and Cobalt were also listed up to 5250 RPM too. If there any question on how these numbers were determinded I would contact BIll Duncan GM Driveline Engineer. He is the guy behind much of the magic with this engine. All I can say is I have driven and owned many torque monsters over the years and the pull on this little engine is in more of the RPM range than any of them. Most built to a peek at some point but my engine has a great deal of pull at low mid and higher RPM. I am at 315 FT LB and GM claims with the upgrade it starts around 1700 RPM and went to 5250 like these ratings here. I would think if these numbers were false someone would have called GM on it by now. It never takes the perfromance community to call BS on engine output. May LNF's have made it to the dyno on many of the forums and I have yet to see anyone dispute GM HP or Torque numbers yet. Not matter true or not to understand this engine it needs to be driven. I was not a believer in this power plant till I drove one.
  14. I finally got into a new Malibu. There is things I like better than ours and things I am not crazy about. The one I was in was an eco that in person really was not that thrilling in color or interior. after just driving a Regal turbo I would have a hard time buying the Malibu. The sad part is I am not a Ford fan but the new Fusion is a looker inside and out. The price will be key on that one. It could really hurt the Malibu. It is not a case the Malibu is a bad car it just was not as good as I had hoped. I will wait to see a different color non Eco one to see it it will change my mind. This 2.0 must be the new Eco Turbo II. With a non SS st this HP makes me wonder if we will soon see a boost to the GS and the hinted too SS. Could we be seeing a 300 HP turbo soon? A few others in this class are now just reaching over 300 HP.
  15. It is more than dirty pool as it is an out right media attacks by other MFG's like Packard did back in the early 20th century to Cadillac. CNG, diesel, electric and hybid systems are still not systems for everyone but they all will have an important place in the future.
  16. Just wait till someone hits a tree 200 MPH, backwards, upside down, drunk and blows up in a mushroom cloud. The media will be all over this and claim these are unsafe like the Volt was till it was found not to have been any worse than anything else we drive. GM still has people out there playing dirty. We have seen it on the Volt and we may see if on this if Toyota or some other large MFG does not want to have to invest in these products. I am 100% other MFG's have been and still are lobbying the media to be against GM and the Volt. I suspect Toyota just based on their past with the media and also the fact a Volt system making an impact on the market would damage Toyota's investment in the Prius system. GM needs to watch the media and head these things off as soon as possible. I think they have not seen the last of the attacks. Lets face it even many of the political officals speaking out on the Volt have Toyota factories in their home areas.
  17. The real issue is Europe as a whole is in a bigger mess than Opel is and Opel is not good either. The Socialist, the enviromental geen people and the economy are mess. Now with the issues in Iran you have a growing issue of oil becoming tighter and more expensive with a threat of Nukes pointed at Europe. We won't even get into the Holy war that has been on and off in areas of Europe that even the Russians can contain. But Europe has aways had it's ups and downs in history and they are still there in spite of themselves. In the past they always could flee to the States, Africa, Austrailia and South America. The real issue is when many flee where will they go this time? GM is to the point where they have a hand full of issues here but they can't let go either. They are trying to work out a plan to keep the ship afloat and not lose the money they would if they just shut down. Like I have said before they are getting more and more to the point where they can build cars anywhere and make more money importing.
  18. There is nothing wrong in disagreeing appropriately. It is healthy to do so. I would not want you to agree all the time or you would never have a point to make that I already would have myself. Camino you help me form better opinions when you disagree. You either change mine opinion or you make me stock up and better support my opinion. I am ok with anything you say as we may not always agree but I respect what you say. I hope you by now already know that.
  19. That is definitely good news!! Can't wait to see this at the upcoming NYIAS then... Just look at what is up front and what is in the back of the displays. It was just a few years ago the Big trucks and SUV's were front and center. This year the Spark, Sonic and Malibu Eco were out front. This is how many companies are displaying this year. The real changes will be after 2017 I expect. The MFG's want to get the goverment to look at where they are at that point. This I figure is if they can catch breaks from the EPA fine if not they have 8 years to find a way to get people into go carts. The new MPG issue was just a blurb in the news and I really don't think 5% of the people in this country really understand where this will all lead. The impact once they do understand will hit them like a brick in the face. I feel the only thing that will help the auto makers will be higher gas. But then the economy creeps to a stop and then they can't find buyers with money. Anyways check out the Arcadia it is great. It make the Denali look silly and over done.
  20. I agree on the risk as they are holding up the dividens for this year. But I see this as a step back to get head. I see this as more like the Renualt Nissan venture vs the GM Fiat fiasco. As for Holden they are the down under Chevy and the RWD cars can and will be built anywhere. For the most the Alpha will show that GM did what Holden could not do with the Zeta in several attempts and make it lighter. Holden for the most is just a name and their engineering can be done elsewhere just as well as they did there. In fact many of those there will just end up where ever the RWD plaform is done. With a global GM that could be anywhere. Fact is the Aussies are not the only people at GM who can design a RWD.
  21. Right now the SUV maket is in a uproar. After I saw where a GM engineer stated he would not be shocked if the whole full size SUV market may go away is very telling at the drastic measures that may lie ahead. I could see the panic mode starting at the autoshow this year with most MFG.
  22. I expect they are far from done with the options on fuel and driveline changes. I wonder how long till the E assist is standard on trucks in the future too. They are going to have to use all their tricks if the goverment does not back down. The real question is we know the fleets will take notice here but how many people in the public sector will take this option. GM needs to make sure to market this one and do it right. Take the mystery out of it and the false ideas for many.
  23. Be sure the nose change will happen as we are on the verge of buying a loaded Terrain SLT2 for the wife. Every time I buy a car they change it the next year. LOL! We may know by the end of the week if we are going to make the move. The dealer is close to my price and if they meet my number we will do it. I have a good price now but I want better. With his cost and hold back he should be able to meet my number. When I get time I will stop out and see how much more I can squeeze our of them. I just wish they were not selling as well and they had more GM reward money on them. Moca Steel with Brownstone interior.and 19" wheels. Sticker is almost $36K and already have him to $31K on the phone. I hope to get just in to the $30K range before my GM Reward money. I would like to get the price to the $29K before taxes. If this blows up I always have the Nox at the Chevy dealer that is willing to work with me on the same package. The wife likes either with the edge to the GMC. She has to drive it so we get what she wants. The Silver and Mocha Steel are the only two colors I really like the Terrain in. I like the black too but we already have two black cars now and I don't need anymore. I just wish the Terrain had a little better MPG. I could live with the 4 but she wants the 19" wheels and you have to buy the V6. The larger wheels do look much better.
  24. I'm sure you mean Acadia and Outlook, right ? Sorry for the slip. I was never a big Saturn fan till near the end.
