  1. I don't expect to see the next CTS-V jump 100-150 HP- it's still exceeding mercedees & BMW in it's class. That, and sorry to burst the bubble; but the HP climb cannot continue steadily forward to 1000. Just not going to happen. It IS surprising no one is complaining about the ZL1 & Shelby 4-dr sedans. Huh, I missed that. I hate to burst your bubble but just watch! Whle the CTSV may not be 700 like a Vette may be it will be over the 600 HP range as will the ZL1. While their numbers will be few they are easy to make a profit on and are great for marketing. Does the Shelby really need 600 HP no but it sure got a lot of cheap press for Ford and they will make money on each one. As for Chevy and their sedan I would continue to watch HSV. If it is good enough for down under then why not here? Also to make thier mark they will want to trump the Charger and SVO in any way they can. HP wil level out in the 600-750 range in most limited models. The average cars will be 400-500 in normal performance trim. The next Performance move is to remove weight then you don't need more power.
  2. First off if there is a 600 HP special edition there will be a 650-700 HP Cadillac. The LSA engine will be replaced and I expect improvments in MPG and more power. I have yet to see anyone complain about the new ZL1 yet? Anyone complaining about a 600 HP Shelby? Yes they will be expensive but they will give press and sell a hell of a lot of SS with some of the hand me down features. Even at low volume they are profit centers.
  3. Hmm.... maybe a flagship is not as important as some think anymore. I see the BMW line up and the 3 and 5 series are the money makers the most noted cars and their flag ship means little to most anymore. I am not saying that Cadillac does not need a flagship but I do see the ATS and new CTS as the most important models as they will be the ones most people will be looking to. Most reviews will be done on them and the most money to be made on them, these will be the cars people will see daily and see as the face of Cadillac. The new CTS will break new ground and I feel will set the tone for the entire line.
  4. Chevy is not getting a LWB of this unless it is a police unit or Ute. If they do get a High HP version it would be like a HSV model where they will be few and expensice in a ZL1 kind of way. It would be a non factor to Cadillac. I expect they will have special editions in low numbers to keep it interesting and to compete with Chrysler Charger SRT special editions the only competing car in this class. With the numbers we are talking here GM only needs to make sure the Chevy dealers don't hijack the prices like Pontiac did on the G8 and damage marketing on this car. Pontiac dealer jacked GM on the GTO and the G8 and did damage. Too many people went to check the cars out could not make a deal and went elsewhere. Once a buyer who is not brand loyal leaves due to a poor price at this market level the odds of them coming back are not good.
  5. I think we all got the point before. Might chime in when you ever do find somthing you like. LOL!
  6. It will be a DI engine no matter what in this car. But they have looked at Supercharging and a Turbo in the new Gen V engine. At this point no one outside GM really knows which way they will go. The Shelby and the Viper will not go unchallanged. The one thing that is know we will see the Gen V at some point get into the 700 HP range. It will be expensive and limited but the Vette and Cadillac should see versions of it.
  7. I would relax and just let them finsh the car. While this image is close it is not 100% it. There are details in this photo I have heard would not be there. The large fender flairs in the front were reported to be gone in the Chevy version. It is to have a smoother look. The end product could still have a much different tone. The tail lights I do expect as GM is moving to this type lens. Even the new Vette will be closer to these but in body.
  8. The CUE is here because this type system is being intro'd in all GM cars. While some will get a few changes CUE, Mylink and Intellilink are an option now and will be standard in nearly all GM cars in the near future. As for the engine. I suspect we will see some upgrades once a new engine is readied. The fact is the 3.6 is about all they have ready right now. Even if they were to drop a FWD V8 Chevy in for some odd reason it would not happen till the DI V8 is out. The XTS is going to be like the Benz that are sold in Europe as Taxis and police vehicles. While they are good cars they are not the kind of cars we get here. Many have lesser power and very non sport suspensions. We need to keep in mind Benz and BMW have their XTS like cars but they do not send them here. Benz and BMW are only a luxury brand here when they are to some extent Chevy, Buick, and Cadillac combined there. Many here forget this as we just see the top self stuff here for the most part. We only get hints at the 3 Series 4 cylinder hatchbacks etc.
  9. Here is a little they left out #1 The Nox line here always was a temporary line to catch the needed production of the popular Nox. Even today CAMI Ingersol is the primary plant for the Nox and Terrain and will remain so for th next 3 years. Note they still build the majority of Nox, Terrains and SRX in Ingersol Canada. My Terrain is a Ingersol build. #2 Body shells have had to be trucked from Ingersols body shop as there is no body shop for the Nox in Oshawa. Truck Trains have been moving Bodies at I believe 5-6 at a time between plants to be assembled. #3 Oshawa is a very large plant and they are getting the New Impala and XTS..Lines will be down for a while for change over. This could last appox 6 months. This is already going on. #3 The Regal was just moved there not long ago so GM is not giving up on the plant. #4 the future of the Camaro could be in flux here. GM has not anounced where the car will be built but I expect the Alpha Camaro will be kept here. In the end I do think the deal will keep the Camaro in Canada but they can move it to another plant. #5 Depending on the popularity the Zeta based Chevy Holdens could have an outside shot of coming here. The police package is a problem where some departments can not buy it due to where it was built. A SS model and possible higher volume V6 models/ute could make it cheaper to build here if needed if the global economy keeps up at what they are doing. We still have to remember Holden needs to keep production up at their plant too. I am not holding my breath on this but it is a possibility. #6 The new Nox on the Delta II in late 2014 for 2015 is more in line for the Spring Hill plant. GM has tried to move more production to the US since the bail out like the Sonic etc. #7 All these plants are very flexible and GM has not made many plans public till late in the game. Just because they are not talking does not mean they have not plans. #8 Layoffs have always been a part of the auto industry. It is never a good time but it happens and most union workers know that. Oshawa is a major plant for GM and they will not walk away. There could be some down time and deals cut witht he unions but the plant will remain as long as the unions is compeitive vs other GM plants. The Union locals willing to work with GM get the jobs. Lordstown learned that on the Cruze as have other plants. #9 Finally the Union right now is just getting loud because they do not know what is going to happen or they do not like the deal they were offered. They are just trying to get public sediment on their side to force GM's hand. This is just part of the game in negotiating a new deal for a new line in the futrue. This is not the first time we have seen this nor the last. I still think the Camaro will be moved to a new line at Oshawa or other plant in Canada and the Zeta line may be used for some of the new VF models. Keep in mind they could build RWD and FWD cars on this line per Scott Settlmire a few years ago. It is a very flexible plant. This is just a story based on a union gripe and a media that did not get all the facts. Go figure. It is time for the public to learn as most of us here that there is much more going on at GM than what we are hearing. The Camaro was pretty much spelled out 5-6 years ahead while today GM only spoke public on the SS sedan about 15 months ahead.
  10. Yes and as Cadillac gets to the new product they need and want cars like the XTS will be left to the profesional market as the Town Car was. Lincolns issue was they had no other cars. They whored the Town Car out and let the resale values plunge. The other models could not be protected as they were for the most just a Taurus. Even today Lincolns issues is their best car is nor more than what will be Cadillacs worst car a rehash of an older shared FWD. Now that is not to say the XTSis a bad car it just will never be the best car nor should it be considered the best car Cadillac offers. GM really needs to bat down those who toss out the flag ship label on this car as it sets the wrong tone for the coming models. The new coming CTS, ATS and Omega are a different breed all together.
  11. The XTS will not harm Cadillac and it will being in cash flow to pay for the other cars in the line. The MKS was made out to be the be all Lincoln when the GM has made it clear that they plan to sell this car for those who pine for an updated DTS and for Fleet sales taking the place of the Town Car.The only reason we have this car is most of the work was already done and they just had to finish it. If they did not being this car now we would still be years from a Flag ship and left with a large empty space in the show room. For the most this car is the Chevy Captiva of Cadillac. For the most this car will keep the lower volume cars like the ATS and CTS help retain value vs fleet selling them for added money. The Captiva is preserving the value of the Nox now since it is taking the fleet sales bullet for it.
  12. From what I have seen and been able to put together this is pretty close to what we should expect. It is a evolution change but there will be changes in the VF. Note too the Chevy and Holden will be pretty much the same less the emblems and changes needed for each market. As I have been saying Chevy and Holden are becoming one. We gave them a Spark, Sonic, Cruze, Malibu and Colorado and we get this and I hope a Ute in exhange. I think we got the better of the deal. It will be interesting to see if the new Alpha Camaro becomes the new Holden Coupe. I wonder how long till someone starts selling Holden emblems to people here to make their Chevys into Holdens Or Holdens into Chevys down there.
  13. I expect this car to be much like an updated imporved GXP G8. I do expect some HSV work to show up in special editions at a even higher cost. They will try to slot this in as the CTSV for the guy who can only afford to spend $55K. I like how they tried to make the front fender look like it has the old Holden bulge that is reported to be missing in the new car. The tail lamps look like they were lifted from a Malibu. I wonder if they are just stand in's or if they are the direction they will be working toward. I was hoping for a much stronger tail lamp than what Holden has been useing. I as behinf a G8 yesterday and as much as I like the car the tail lamps could have been better. I hope Chris drops in and lets us know what his in person impressions were since his name is on these. Good Job Chris. Time to get the Chopper up and over Warren now LOL! I agree Camino this was not a chance meeting and they wanted this seen. GM is careful like that anymore. They always seem to leave you wanting more till show time.
  14. I suspect this car is like most GM does and will get a new engine soon. How many times do we see a new car and an old engine or in the case of the old Impala with a new engine and tranny. The money involved has put GM in a place where they have yet to get the two together at the same time. The C7 Vette is waiting on the DI V8 as has been the SS sedan. The Verano came out with thumbs up on the car but many have to wait till the second year for the improved 2.5 and 2.0. The Malibu now is only the Eco due to the lack of the two new engines. It has been a game of car cycles and engine cycles being off and I would expect in time GM will get them back in alignment.
  15. One thing we all need to remember too is this car is not a M Series or AMG chanllanger. This car is ment to do the following. Fill an empty showroom with a car that was well along in development before the new money came in. To take the place of a very outdated DTS To take on the profitable livery market that Lincoln abandoned. With this said is there a great need for a hybrid version? the V6 will suit most and the coming turbo will help keep it interesting till the Omega finally make a bow. This is not the car Cadillac wants to show where they will be but it is a patch to let them hold on till they get the product they are working on now. I just hope the public don't put more on this car than even Cadillac even expects.
  16. Things like the new suspension and other tech items will be leading enough. I just don't see a hybrid system in this car being a big seller. for the most I see it as something the would limit sales if you had no choice in the matter. If it was offered as an option I see it as something GM would have spent a lot of money on and would have had few takers. On board connectivity is what the entire industry is looking at. This is the hot button for all and in the higher class cars be the major playing card. People today are loaded with electric items and they want a vehicle with a good system that will link up with a push of a button. The system in my GMC is great but I expect these will get only better with each year, I think GM would be best off handling the Hybrid system much like Toyota and The Prius. US a mid class car that is not too expensive but cost enought to cover the cost so they do not lose money. Most people paying $60K are saying gee I wish I was saving more money on gas and few are eviro types. If they were most would not have a large SUV or sports car as a second or third car.
  17. That is why this car is so delayed as it is waiting for the DI V8. GM could have already had the car here if they did not want to wait for the VF upgrade of the coming V8. Once we see the DI in the Vetter the gates will be open and the engine will be here in many applications soon after.
  18. Here is a part of a story from Wards and a recent survey result on this topic. According to the 2012 U.S. Automotive Industry Survey and Confidence Index by Booz & Co., alternative vehicle powertrains may take up as much as 10 percent of the total market by 2020, but only if the federal government continues to support development. Without a helping hand from Uncle Sam, only 30 percent of the researchers, executives and consumers who participated in the survey believe alternative-fuel machines will be able to carve out that small slice of the market. Specifically, federal tax incentives for potential buyers could help push the technology forward in the future. The simple issue here is is there really market for a more expensive XTS that only gets a few token MPG? I really don't see it worth the cost for the investment. In short it would be cheaper and easier to just offer some kind of turbo Diesel even with all the EPA emissions BS. Most people here in this class do not care much about this technology and those who do are perfectly happy in their Prius. For the most companies like Fisker are going to fail because they have a limited product in a low volume market. Unless Fisker is sold I see them failing in the near future. I do wonder if they had just stuck a GM V8 under the hood and left the hybrid junk out would they have had a better chance in this segment. It is hard enough to do a low volume car but to do one that has the many issues and added cost make it even more difficult. The meat of this segment are made with mid priced cars and down. GM needs to really only worry much about the Malibu on down in the eyes of the public. On the remaining cars they only need to address what is needed to meet future CAFE.
  19. The new technologies all need to still be worked on but the fact is they are all still new and not ready for primetime. The goverment used to really help develope these new technologies throught the space program. Many think we just went to the moon to prove we could beat the Russians but the fact was it was a way to develope new technologies like we did during WWII with out blowing the hell out of each other. Today the goverment has slashed the space and similar programs and left us with a bunch of stumulas union jobs repaving highways. Or they pumped the money into green campain doaner companies that are not making much progress if any. The first thing this country needs is a real energy policy that works for all of us and not just those with their own agendas. It is time to what is economicaly best for our country to progress but still invest in programs that develope and provide cheap technology for the private industry to expand into our daily lifes. God knows with out the space programs technologies we would be no where near advanced as we are today and I wonder how many lives would be much worse off or dead with out the advancements we have made. It is time for those elected to do what is right for our country and stop the partisan BS.
  20. The obsession over fuel economy is far from over.. We are entering a phase where the MFG are better understanding and reacting to the market and to those who want what kind of cars. The fact is GM has found that using the things they have in the Cruze Eco to be the most popular with the public. The MPG is up the cost is down and the mojority of the market is happy. The fact is MPG to a buyer is more important than even quality. http://www.autoblog....n-buying-a-car/ This is how the game will play out. Brands like Benz, BMW, Bently Cadillac etc will not be centered so much on the hybrid formula. These companies will produce more and more Tubo 4 and 6 cars with lots of power. They also will still offer the V8 in select performance models. Over the next 5-10 years engines like the W16 and V12 will grow smaller and smaller to the point it will be rare for one to be offered. These companies will not be offering what I would call a high milage model they will make what they have more efficent. The reason being is CAFE since most who can afford these cars do not really care so much about the enviroment or MPG, I really wonder now how well the Cadillac version of the Volt would do since many of the other hybrid luxury brands really are not attracting much attention. Lexus just dropped their 250H model. The fact is if electric cars and hybrids are going to make it and the goverment does not back down on the CAFE we are going to have some major issues if the Goverment does not fund these programs as the MFG can' keep making these system and taking a hit on each one. On the other hand I sure as Hell don't want my tax money supporting products that people don't want in numbers great enought to support them. This thing is just a whole catch 22 till the technology becomes better for batteries and cheaper. I do see things improving but by 2025? Not really. As for coal and gas we need to change some people in office to do so. Right now in this area there is a big fight to prevent gas and coal being expanded for many reasons and all not too legit. In fact the gas drilling alone in Ohio has lowered the unemployment and there are many who are working hard to shut it down. Either way a Hybrid XTS should not be in the cards. A powerful but efficent TT V6 would play well to this market. After driving the Lacrosse Hybrid I can say I would rather pass on it. I am not a big fan of this start stop engine system. While it works to a point I would rather leave it alone. I also see many issue once it gets old and needs repairs. These cars will be a major issue on the used car market. In fact I see them being avoided in the later years as was the 8/6/4 Cadillac. But the 8//6/4 is a good example of an idea that will work once technology catches up like the V8 cylinder deactivation system GM has. What was once horrid today is very good and noticed by the average driver.
  21. I saw a spy photo of the VF dash a while ago, It was incomplete but it showed enough to tell it was different. It also was LH Steering version.
  22. This is what I have predicted for a while. I also would not be suprised if we may see a few HSV based special editions come along too. The only thing I differ on is I expect more power in the standad model. There were claims the C7 with this engine will be nearing Z06 power levels so I expexct the Camaro and SS to have a ltitle less but more than the presernt SS Camaro. Look for the Camaro and SS both to have the same engine and tranny options. Less the ZL1 for now. When Al said they were calling this the Camaro 4 door that gave me the impression that he drive lines ans suspension tunes would be similar. I would love to see what this car could do with the magnetic shocks as an option.
  23. You keep telling us what you have no interest in. You need to state what you do what that is plausible in this market. As long as there is a Camaro there will be no other Chevy Coupe on the Zeta and it would be a long shot at Buick getting a Riv on this. Odds are better that a Alpha may provide a coupe for you.
  24. Would prove to be interesting if they intro the car as the SS and then if they move to a wagon and V6 they add a Chevelle handle to all models. It would not be a diffcult move to do. Either way we have gained an improved G8 back and that should make those who want a RWD car happy. Now it is up to the public to show GM that there is demand for them in numbers enough to support imports. GM has done their part and now it is up to those who said they wanted one to put up the money. As long as GM keeps the supply up with demand they should prevent the dealers from pulling a Pontiac move of jacking prices. As for the media too many people have no idea how it works. The media is not some great impartial voice as it is in theory. For the most the media is bought and sold be it magazines, Newspapers or Television. We will never see anyone admit it but the Asian companies bought and paid for a lot of good will in the media The media is not only unbiased in Politics but they are also unbiased to money paid for MFG for good will to their companies. To be honest the American companies opened the door with their poor quality as it takes a little truth to portray and support any false statment, commentary or sediment.
