  1. In keeping with the '93 RX-7 vibe, Mazda has also thrown in some Mercedes gull-wing appeal, as well. Very appealing.
  2. Meanwhile, the aftermarket community had already been able to address ANY issue with the 3.8L V6 Series II engine; http://www.wbodystore.com/gaskets-hardware.html I just hope that there are no attempts by plaintiff lawyers to try and file any class-action lawsuits over this.
  3. I have said it before, I will say it now, and I am sure that I will say it again - MANUAL TRANSMISSION!!!!!!!!
  4. It is more than just corporate greed, it is the proof that the government's emissions standards cannot be achieved as mandated. I am not denying that VW made it clear, in 2010, they declared to become the world's largest auto maker in sales by 2018. The EU may have made a compromise to accept the diesel pollution from these cars but not North American regulators. Cars are not built for the sake of craft and culture anymore. They are built under the ministrations of any fiefdom demanding the compliance and conformity to any safety and emissions rule for the good of the people and the environment.
  5. Yes, this is true. But the lawyers need to generate enough of a potential payout to get the class certified and move on for any type of formal litigation. Yes, this is only for the benefit of the lawyers who will get 30% of any settlement amount while the owners will continue to get screwed.
  6. Having a 25 year run of this beast is not too shabby.
  7. I could be off a bit here, but I think a class action requires a minimum of collective damages for all plaintiffs totaling $5M. Assuming that each plaintiff may get a completely new car as compensation, 19 x $100,000 = $1.9M. I guess the lawyers are fishing for another 31 owners to make things interesting. RRP
  8. This will not be resolved within a discussion thread, but here are two questions to ponder. 1) Apart from maybe the Ford Flex, what other true mini-van is being offered by GM and Ford? The average price of a new car is just too high for a modest family to buy one of these things at the dealership. The demographics don't add up in the long-term to keep these around. 2) Should Sergio have FCA market the hell out of these mini-vans in the same way he has done so with the Hellcat? The only "American" mini-van in the game?
  9. Captain Picard is hailing FCA. He wants his shuttle craft back in the Enterprise hanger. Moving beyond the snark, why would any car company still mass produce mini-vans? No one has more than three kids any more. I will give FCA credit if they actually call it the Town and Country and not adopt the sheep-like alpha/numeric model "names" that is plaguing the industry today.
  10. That is the only SS model that I can find with a manual transmission. C'mon Chevy. Let's make a deal!
  11. Is that red SS in the pics the same one you drove? Did you get it from Chevrolet? It might be the same car that made the auto show circuit this past year? Are they going to sell it? 'Cause I WANT it!
  12. If it's Italian, then it should be La Kubang.
  13. It is great to see so much enthusiasm over this car with what could have been and what might be. I think the Catera, GTO, G8, and now SS are examples of how Big GM (old and new) could never really "globalize" their models properly. With Holden, you had three fundamental hurdles; 1) Distance to actually ship the product, 2) Different government regulations to build the product, and 3) consumer demand to buy the product. There is an old video that can be found on this site where Bob Lutz gave three reasons for why the GTO didn't quite gain traction when it first was introduced; 1) The design of the car was late in the lifecycle period and did not come to the states with a fresh look. 2) They shipped the car to places all over the US where the GTO had traditionally high sales (based upon 40 year old data) only to come to find that it was a big hit in SoCal. That meant shipping a bunch of cars BACK to Long Beach where they first showed up just to be sold. 3) The car was at a price point a bit too high along with dealer mark-ups. If there is an SS with a MANUAL transmission available in my area, then I would seriously consider buying AND driving it. If purchased, this would give GM the data it needs to justify a next generation IMPALA SS sedan with the new LT-1 and a SEVEN speed manual.
  14. The Genesis V8 needs to get into the Genesis Coupe as a start.
  15. I wonder what will happen to the V8 Supercar Series in Australia once Ford and Holden pull up their stakes and leave?
  16. Do they pronounce it BenTAYga or BentayGA? The first could sound Southern and the second could sound Asian. Maybe that is why the name is what it is - the Chinese Middle Class is the prime market (if it is still around in the next few years).
  17. Holden has been the most under-rated division of GM for so long. I remember seeing those cars first hand in New Zealand many years ago. It will be sad to see everything shut down but they deserve to go out in a blaze of glory.
  18. No, it hasn't been fixed. The car needs to be built. Then everything will be right with the world. And no "re-badging" for any different divisions. This needs to be Holden's final mark for their marque.
  19. "You might be wondering why HSV is going with the newer LT V8 engines. The reason is HSV can't fit any of the LT engines into the Commodore's engine bay." Shouldn't the sentence say, "why HSV is NOT going with the newer LT V8 engines." I say - BUILD IT!
  20. I hope the new CTS-V will help get more people into the showrooms if for no other reason than to stare and drool.
