  1. I have nothing against the current logo either. I think it is a great streamlined version of all logos from the past. But if Caddy is going for the "younger market" then the emphasis would be more on performance than luxury. What better way to sell performance than with the return of the big chromed-out V and the big badge in the middle.
  2. Have the current badge sit within the V like the mid-20th century below;
  3. The SSR was introduced as a 2003 model and they should have included the LS1 and 6 spd manual from the very beginning. That would have helped to fill some of the void left after the Camaro/Firebird platform was cancelled. But that then begs the questions; was this to be a muslce car, a retro truck, a bit of both? Did GM have an aversion to putting the LS1 motor in a truck platform? Clearly they had no problem with making the Trailblazer SS using the same LS2 motor in the last two years of the SSR. I love the SSR, but it unfortunately suffered the same fate as the GTO. They both were great ideas and finished strong. But their introduction was not fully thought through and their pricing was just too high.
  4. It would be nice for Chevy to have a 2 Door body style for their entry into racing like NASCAR. The Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, and Chevy Impala are all family sedans. At least with the Dodge Charger, you get a V8 out of the deal. Make this a Chevelle SS with an updated LS4 to go under the hood and Buick Skylark GS with a Turbo 3.6L V6.
  5. They need to get rid of the LS/LT base models and just call it the RS. RS SS ZL1 Z28? LS Package = cloth seats + a few options and LT package = leather seats + more options.
  6. The package looks great. I like the wheels a lot and the V6 almost has as much power as an LT-4 V8. But can we really have a 45th anniversary for the Camaro? After all, it was "on hiatus" for seven model years.
  7. I am very pleased to see that Chevrolet is making more performance models now that GM is out of Bankruptcy. However, if it were to be a "real" ZL-1 then Chevrolet should have dropped the LS7 V8 under the hood. It would be nice for the car to live up to its namesake with a 427 V8. Chevrolet put an LS9 cam in the LS7 to make 550 hp for the Camaro LS7 Concept. That sould have been the ZL-1 instead of using the LSA out of the CTS-V. Since the CTS-V coupe is going to be racing in the SCCA circuit, there would be an overlap in competition and marketing if Chevrolet would have used the Z28 name for this car. I wish the LS7 would be used in other cars besides the Corvette Z06. Will there be a return of the Z28 as rumored? We shall see.
  8. "As an aside, I don't get why GM killed the Aurora and didn't give it to Buick. It was at the time one of the best sedans in its class." They did. It's the Lucerne. I miss the Aurora, too.
  9. It would be so much cheaper for GM to change the G8 into the Impala sedan. The Holden plant in AU, I am sure, has already been given a long term life cycle plan for the G8 platform production. All they would have to do is revise the front and rear facicas and modify the guages. The G8 V6 becomes the Impala LS model; leather, traction control, etc. would be on the LT model; and if you want a V8 then you can only get SS. The GXP will become the SS and be a more "upmarket" model for Chevrolet to have. I am also sure that an Automatic SS would be ideal for many police departments who want to replace their Crown Vics and Chargers.
  10. Last time I checked, the SF Chronicle is about to shut its doors very, very soon. I wonder why...
  11. "You do realize that after having the LS7 in production since 2005 (for the 2006 model year) with the myriad of aftermarket parts and tuners out there that GM would be able to easily find a way to update the engine and get another 50 hp out of it." http://www.gmhightechperformance.com/featu...o_ss/index.html "GMPP was also quick to have the motor partially disassembled to install one of its new Hot Cams before shoehorning it comfortably into the fifth-gen's engine compartment. Though there was little to no increase in lift or duration with the GMPP-spec cam (p/n 12480033), it uses a tighter 112LSA to up the ante to 556 hp. The LS7 would also be breathing easier through a GMPP cold air induction kit and tubular shorty headers. It's safe to say the factory-designed and street legal components were taken as far as they could go." If it's this easy to make the car, then GM should save their R&D money and make THIS the Z/28.
  12. You do realize that after having the LS7 in production since 2005 (for the 2006 model year) with the myriad of aftermarket parts and tuners out there that GM would be able to easily find a way to update the engine and get another 50 hp out of it. Apparently, Chevrolet is already considering the return of the Z28 pending their current bailout prospects. http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_ne...urns/index.html Why the insistence of using the LS9 for the Z28 is beyond me. The LS7 should be used to give more credibility to the ZO6. Otherwise, we should just be expected to find the same V8 in every car that GM would produce across all their divisional lineups.
  13. You know, I completely appreciate the efforts made my GM to make this car. I fully recognize that this was done in conjunction for a movie. The design at the bird's eye view of this car is simply brilliant. I can't wait to see what NOS2006 does with his photoshop to make this car look more like a production model. If I had the skills, I would certainly take a crack at how I would change the front and rear shape of the car. The emblem, in and of itself, is genius. Anything that has ever graced the name Corvette has always been on the edge of design and performance whether it be a concept or production. My hat is off to them on this one. However, when watching the youtube clip of Ed Welburn explaining the way the design of the car was crafted, I had to raise an eyebrow when he said, "...the way the glass wraps around the side..." This made me think of yet another GM concept car that hit the show circuit recently. "This is pure Stingray." Really?
  14. Just make it official - drop an LS7 in there, call it a Z28, price it at $45k+ and watch all the GT500 owners squirm.
  15. Check out the Cien compared to the Converj Side View Interior If Cadillac wants to bring back the "ETC" name, then it should mean "Electric" Touring Coupe ;-)
  16. Check out this link to the chevrolet malibu website for accessories and click on wheels. You will be able to at least see what the dealer may have in stock. http://www.chevrolet.com/2009malibu/accessories/
  17. "The logic seems bass akwards. If they wanted to steal thunder, they would officially anounce a high performance model, or release specs, or something like taht [sic], not start a rumor of cancelation." There is a reason why its called "reverse" psychology. To have GM simply announce a high performance Z28 model means the focus stays on the Challenger in the media which will be out one year before the Camaro. In order to keep people "emotionally invested" in the existence of the Z28 Camaro, then one "threatens" its cancellation. The media has a new story to write about the drama at GM making the story about the soon-to-be-on-the-market Challenger irrelevant.
  18. Has anyone bothered to notice that this "Z28 is Dead" rumor came a day after Dodge announced price points and options for the 2008 Challenger? Do you think that maybe the boys at GM deliberately started this story to steal from the Challenger's thunder and drum up excitement for the production Camaro? Do you think that perhaps there is a way for the boys at GM to track the Internet traffic on sites like this to demonstrate the potential marketing pool of people who REALLY want to buy a Z28 model? Content like this may be used as free survey data by GM to justify the cost and potential production units needed to really make the Z28 happen. As far as engine choices are concerned for the different Camaro models, I always thought that the SS was supposed to have a bigger engine than the Z28. Look at the first generation engine/model choices; 302 V8 for the Z28 and 396 V8 for the SS. I know that gas prices and EPA restrictions have put a hold on a wider selection of V8s for car makers. However, I was hoping that GM would make the 5.3L block in the Truck line as a car application for the new Impala SS and Camaro platform. GM could easily have the 5.3L V8 have an output of 360 hp. That would make the the top level Camaro more desireable as a performance car. Instead of using the new 6.2L V8 Supercharged engine, there is still the ZO6 7.0L V8 for the Camaro. One can only hope that the price of oil will come down to a reasonable level in time for the release of the Camaro. My suggestion to all those who want a high performance Camaro model should stop posting about the untimely demise of the Z28 and start siging online petitions for Congress to start drilling in ANWAR.
  19. The 4.3l V8 "Baby LT1" has the L99 production code and is the W in the VIN for B-body Caprices from 1994 to 1996. The displacement is 265 ci just like the original 1955 V8.
