  1. Gm still needs to sell it as a Chevy. With the spate of Micro cars that are heading to our shores GM needs to be there when they arrive so they do not get the blame game for ariving late to the party. The above mentioned vehicles may not be in the same segment but the perception is GM does not have cars that compete with them. The Aveo alone does not help that image perception.
  2. Despite the camo it seems it will be an ugly slab sided car. Yuck!
  3. I just read in the Sacromento Bee that the Versa, Fit and Yaris are doing well in light of the current gas prices. GM needs to bring this thing over here and sell it as a Chevy if it wants to remain relevent in the California import biased attitudes market. If it waits too long then the press will be all over GM for coming to the market too late with a competive model.
  4. I know, to keep peace in the marriage with the wife, we had to buy her the Lexus. It was either the Lexus or she would not put out ;-) My mother in law gave us the corolla for my son who will get his drivers lisence in a few months. I shudder everytime I look in gargage and see "the dark side".
  5. I tend to think it won't be a big issue, maybe to those Camaro faithfull who owned a 1 st gen car it will be annoying. To the rest of us F body fans who know some history and the general public who knows next to nothing it will not make a difference. Why do I say this? As an F-body fan who's first car was a 1976 LT Camaro (bought in 79), who's second and third cars were and still are a third gen 1985 (bought in 85) and fourth gen 1993 Trans Am (bought in 1993) who never noticed that small detail in the 1st gen Camaro C pillar vs the fifth gen B-pillar, I say who cares. It is such a trivial issue that I really could care less. The car looks awesome and I am greatfull it is coming back.
  6. It will be interesting to see what GM will charge for the upgraded interior and the reaction of those who complained that the interior looked cheap and they would spend a little extra for a better interior. If they charge Porsche interior prices then these same people will continue to complain. It will also make for more fodder for the Vette vs Porsche interior quality. Should make for some interesting reading. What do you think this kind of option will cost? It certainly has me thinking about getting a 2008 Vette. But I am afraid of how well the leather will stay in place on the dash and console. I am skeptical because both of my TAs have headliners that are sagging and I wonder if GM has improved on their adhesives.
  7. But how many farmers would know about that (timing belt) and still buy the truck not expecting to change the timing belt and then getting the shock at 60,000 miles. Buy that time it would be too late and Toyota would still have sold another Tundra.
  8. I don't know where you live but Mazzie Pontiac aout here in Antioch, Ca (about 60 miles east of San Francisco) still has 6 or 7 of them. He originally had a stock of 33 to 35 GTOs. I believe he had one of the larger inventory of GTO's in California.
  9. Amen to that...I agree 100%. Camino, do you still own the Firehawk?
  10. nah...I think the G6 has a more cohesive design. There are a few flame surface lines that are distracting to me. Thought it looks like some BMW and even the top of the line Mercedes Benz styling cues have been used, I like it a lot more than the current Accord coupe.
  11. I am not a fan of blacked out trim and window/door pillars. Every car I ahve owned with blacked out trim has worn out differently from the rest of the paint. It scuffs easy, it gets rain drop stains that are difficult to remove and the sun fades it unevenly. The black painted pillars on our RX300 are having the same issue. I prefer body color trim.
  12. wow, thats a big change in a few hours
  13. Had me fooled right up until the point where the other Big 2 were invited to the talks near the end...and then I remembered April Fools. It was easy to get fooled as well when you read the topic on the 4th of April. Good Job O.C.
  14. I just voted and it seems very close so far whith each getting about a third of the points with no runaway winner at the moment.
  15. hehe...I owned an XCL or however it was spelled and I never got over it! It barely turned over 100,000 miles in 1995 and the motor blew. When I took it too a mechanic for a rebuild, he laughed and said to buy a new car. That's when we bought our 95 Saturn which we put on 177,000 miles in five years before I crashed it in a solo incident. The Saturn was a great little runabout town car.
  16. Hey, my iPod is insulted....just kidding
  17. I agree and that would be one of the times I would not mind puttingmy keys/fob on the coffeee table while hanging around with my friends/associates. That stuff is sexy.
  18. My 85 trans Am wants it's interior back. I find it way too flat la gen Trans Am minus the shelf for the top of the dash.
  19. Thanks for the update, I was hoping it was an updated LS2 and not the"old" L98.
  20. L98...as in the same L98 from the 84-91 Corvette, and 87-92 Trans AM GTA and Camaro IROC/Z-28? If thats the case, it seems GM is going backwards considering we have had the LT1/LT4, LS1/LS2, LS6/LS7 motors since then. The import fan boys will have a field day at our expense if that is truw. Please tell me I am missing something here?
  21. I think you mean the Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona. And I think the GXP Rs look pretty cool as well.
  22. That is what I noticed as well "the notch" and so to me that is a significant change to the arrow head we are familiar with. It keeps one foot in the past and one planted in the future. The worst thing GM can do is completely rework the logo to the point that people would not recognize it as they did with Old. Only true GM fans knew that they were Olds when the new logo came out. But to be fair, I personally like the new Olds logo when it first came out on the Aurora (or was it the Intrgue?) thoght it had an Infinity/Lexus/Mazda feel to it.
  23. Actually, the racing version of this car at the Rolex 24 looks pretty good in racing colors, even thought it is on a Scott and Riley chasis.
  24. That short overhang is awesome and those wheels and tires are damn sexy. Throw on some cross drilled rotors and painted calipers and you will have a ride that M3, AMGs, STIs and Evos drooling at your 4 door sedan with IRS and a V8 to back it up. I am so there if this comes out and I may pass on the Vette.
  25. I like it a lot and I agree when I saw the rear it reminded me of an Acura. Looks damn good for a Chevy and Chevy finally has something to compete with the Camcords. And yeah, the days of dreary gray interiors at GM has finally ended.
