  1. The FedEx one was my favorite, otherwise the commercials were fairly weak this year.
  2. boy do I agree. I bought my 93 TA back in 1993 after reading the special issue Road and Track put out ( I have 5 or 6 copies) entirely devoted to the fourth gen Firebird and Camaro highlighting development, design, various proposed design themes, testing, etc. In it, one chapter mentioned some of the pilot cars running to 200,000 miles after which they were tore down and inspected. It mentioned how well the parts held up. Well, after reading that, I thought that the fourth gens were way better then my third gen so I bought one. Currently my 93 has about 164,000 miles and while it has held up well, the article WAS a little misleading. Still I love my 'birds and won't give them up when I get my Vette this summer. edit:spelling

    G5

Agreed, Piranha is a lot better then some alpha-numeric sh*ty name. GM bring back some passionate names for christ sakes.
  4. Let me find the Trans Sport concept car and you might see the uncanny resemblence between it and the second Gen Previa. I have been looking on the net but can not find it yet. It was red with the lower cladding silver. It was a more rounded design then that which eventually came out. Edit: Here is a link of the 1987 Pontiac Tran Sport concept. I always thought the name Tran Sport was way better then Montana or SV6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Transsport01.jpg
  5. I also read somewhere that the Italians love the Tiburon...go figure.
  6. I have said it before and will say it again, I hate the fact that Ferrari is more concerned with function then form. This is yet another ugly one after the Enzo, way to mechanical for me. I also agree, how can Ferrari have the beautiful F430 and this thing in the same showroom. Starting with the 355, the 360 and now the F430, I have always preferred the styling of the "entry level" ;-) Ferrari over ther more expensive siblings. How weird is that!
  7. I agree, this is getting tedious with all the insults. Let's bring it down a notch or two and I did read all the posts so far, so llet's not get too political.
  8. Well as a fan of Trans Ams, I can live with a GTO, as long as GM does not eliminate a RWD V8 preferably a coupe of some sort from the Pontiac line up.
  9. I agree, of the amny patent I have drawn aside from the silicon tech ones, very few have gone to market. Many of the mom and pop patents just sit around.
  10. i I see a lot of the plastic dustbusters in my neck of the woods and I also liked the Transport with it's space shuttle design. Ugly or not they were ahead of their time. I always thought the Previa was a rip off of the GM concept for what eventually became the dustbusters. I also read on the forum the next gen GM mini-vans will have styling similar to the dustbusters if my interperting "space like" design means the same thing.
  11. If Pontiac is the performance division, what will it get for a 2 door coupe performance car for us Pontiac guys? Even the supercharged Solstice GXP is not enough for us (or me, rather) and I am certainly not interested in a four door RWD sedan. I would much prefer a RWD 2 door coupe in the Pontiac line up. It seems Pontiac I am afraid is becoming irrelevent in this new bright 21 st century. Man has GM really f@#ked things up if it comes to this!
  12. This will be interesting to follow considering I do AUTOCAD drawings for a patent firm out here in San Jose.
  13. I agree, styling needs to move forward and the designers got it right! It just that 2 years will be a long time to wait.
  14. When I first started reading this post it was at 3 pages and by the time I read all of it and posted this reply it was at 8 pages. I love the car and has less retro then I feared and if the proportions are left alone I will be buying one. GM hit it on the nail...and the sleaping giant is awakening to take names from the competiton.
  15. Well they do build the Porsche Cayenne in Bratislava, does that count as exciting? :AH-HA_wink:

Well Reg, I still have to dive to the Amtrak Station which takes about a half hour and then take a shuttle from the train station to work. Yes it kind of sucks and you have to deal with yahoos and train conductors and all, but to me it is still better then driving. On the train I can get some work done, 12 hours of my work week is accomplished on the train, therefore I only work 3 days a week at the office and half a day at home. So for me, it is the best deal I have ever had when it comes to work schedules. If I were to drive I would get to work an hour early in the morning but would spend anywhere from 2.5 to 3 hours commuting at night. So it is worth having to put up with the hassles...well except when the train hits a pedistrian, not that is a different story like a 4 hour delay or the train can never make it to your destination because of the coroner investigation and the blood/body parts cleanup.
  17. My boss is getting a Lucern, he will be trading in his Old Intrigue but he is not sure which trim level he will get.

Ant that is why I take Amtrak to work, sure it takes twice as long to get to work, but at least I am not clogging the roads with one car for one person. Mass transportation, car pooling, etc are better solutions.

My mother in law was or is one of those "stupid" people. The original reason she wanted the Prius was for the so called better fuel ecomomy. When i showed her the figures she would get and how long it would take to recuperate the difference, all of sudden she said she wanted the Prius for the better environment it would help create, never mind that disposing batteries into a landfill or whatever they will do with them( still have not found any good articles that explain what will happen to all these dead batteries) does not make the invironment any better. In the end she bought the car for the wrong reasons and now regrets it. How many other Prius owners have bought into all this hype? At least when we buy an M5 or Vette we are not saying , hey look at me I am protecting the invironment or conserving fuel or whatever reason is hyped about the Prius, never mind what those idiot actors/actresses are saying about the Prius. I concede that there are people who bought the Prius because they actually like the car and for no other reason or statement. I will also concede that there are people who buy Vettes and M5 to say , hey look how much money I have, or look how small my "penis" is. :AH-HA_wink: :AH-HA_wink: edit: spelling
  21. I still maintain the liftback is cute and it will sell well. What I wonder is whether the magazines will rip on the fact that the base car comes with rear DRUM brakes when in the past they ripped on GM for having drum brakes in Cavaliers. etc. It will be interesting to see how they respond on this issue. My guess is they will gloss over it because it is a Toyota. EDIT:spelling

Well after advising my mother in law not to purchase a prius and supplying her with various article both pro and con about the Prius she went ahead and listened to her son who knows less about cars then I do. I suggested other alternatives to her but she was not listening. After about a month of owning the Prius I have heard through the grapevine( via my wife) that my mother in law now regrets having bought the Prius but she will not tell me so directly. She fell for all that PR and cool aid Toyota was passing off and is now stuck. I suppose she can turn aorund and sell it because used Prius are selling above MSRP in some areas and not lose any money. But in doing so that would mean indirectly that I was right and I do not think she wants to do that so she will keep it instead. What a shame.
  23. I agree 100%. I chose the sperate RWD for the G^ and GTO, but now I see how sharing the same chasis and making the G6 a 4 door and the GTO a variant of the G6 with 2 doors shared with trhe "new" Camaro platform makes more sence from a financial and resource point of view.
  24. Ahh, maybe it's the other way around. Look at a later year 1992 Pontiac brochure and look at the last page. What do you see? A preview of a RED 1993 Trans Am with a tag line like "....zooming to a dealer near you soon" or something to that effect. When I get home I will have to pull out the brochure and double check the tag line. Everytime I see those lame zoom zoom Mazda commercials I think how they sort of ripped off that tag line from Pontiac's brochure. My 93 TA is the original zoom zoom if you know what I mean. Edit: spelling.
  25. Congratulations Josh. You need to provide the public with neck braces because many of them will strain their necks just to get a look at your Solstice when you fly by them. Enjoy the sweet ride. ...and stick it to the Miatas of the world.
