lol...I wish.

I have to agree as well. As I was typing this reply , my wife came in and I showed her the add and did not mention anything about the so called "gay angle", and she did not noitce it either. She saw the same as most people; a fairy whose magic failed and she was angry and turned the guy into some sort of preppy thing. By the way, in my early twenties I wore pink, lavender polos so I was sort of a preppy guy, just one of my many fashion transformations. And while a number of men tried to pick me up, I in no way associated it with my style of dress.

American Muscle , is that your Trans Am in the photo? 72 or 73?

I while back my friend and I went to Marsh Creek out here in the East Bay to the weekend drags. Everyone was laughing because someone had rented a Neon and was just trashing it. Buying from a rental place is also the last thing I would do. It was great fun watching the antic of the Neon until the cops broke it up.

NYIAS: Pontiac G6 GXP Coupe Show Car
prinzSD replied to a topic in New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
I guess I am in the minority, but I like it except they need to tone down the whale tail -
I also thought that but at the same time it looked like one of the Corvette CERV show cars in the late 80s.

Let us know what you think of the ride.

I was wondering how the Miata is doing compared to the Solstice. I know the Solstice was selling better but I wonder if it is still true. I have only seen 1 new Miata on the road while I have seen a lot more Solstice. The Mazda dealer in our area is advertising a discount of $2,996 on a new Miata. Ouch, that hurts for a new car...
-
Well, then I have to agree with you.
-
Are you suggesting that there is no demand for the Solstice or am I reading it wrong. If that is what you mean, you are way off basis because there are plenty of places where there is a demand for the Solstice. Please clarify for me, thanks.
-
The dealership near me has 6 Solstice. Five have the MSRP at $25,000 and they all are marked up between $5,995 to $6,995. The other one is the stripo at $20,000 plus the $4,995 markup. They claim he has had to buy them from other dealerships and had to pay the markups. This dealership has sold many of the local Solstice. I guess if people will pay, then it's good for Pontiac. It makes the car a little more desirable, which is something Pontiac has not had lately.

I would never get into these vehicle on any freeway. With all the large trucks, SUVs and Peterbuilts, etc, these thing with airbags are still death traps. The bumper intrusion alone from a truck is serious business and I don't want to find out first hand. It is scary enough driving in the Corolla and my TA, let alone these tiny cars. Now, if gas prices go up and it swings the other way and more people drive these things, then I am in. Until then, the fifteen miles I travel on the freeway to get to the train station for the rest of my commute will continue in larger cars.

While I agree with what you are saying, I do have to make a couple of comments. First off, I owned an Exel in the late eighties whose engine blew up at a little over 100,000 miles(not unlike our Corall that just blew up short of 200,000 though we will drop a new engine into it). So I still have a bad taste in my mouth from that experience. On the other hand I saw an Azera from the rear three quarters and I liked what I saw. Would I buy one, probably not. Personally, I think the Pontiac G6 is a good looking car and if I was in the market for a small sedan it would be on my list. The G6 however is a disappointment when compared to the show car I think should have been built instead. The Azera will be a threat both to the domestics and to Japan.

I agree, in a nutshell that was basically what I was saying.

Yes, I saw that billboard for the first time on my commute this moring on Interstate 680 in Martinez/Pacheco and was wondering what it all was about. Needless to say I was not interested enough to even note what tadio dial it wanted us to tune into. No interest in the tupperewar box= no interest in tuning in. I wonder how successful this ad campaign will be.

True, but import owners write it off as a "white trash, redneck, rattle bucket, fill in the blank" car. As far as technolgy, don't forget the space frame construction and and plant that built the Fiero which was ahead of most cars in it's time. People can't associate GM with technology, to them it is always low tech or yester year with GM.

My Toyota Nazi mother-in law gave us her Coralla with 192,000 miles and praised how it was well maintained and everything was fine and that because it was a Toyata, we would have many more miles and relability from it. A perfect car for my soon to be 16 year old son. Meanwhile my cars are pieces of junk as far as she is concerned. Well lo and behold I was driving the car last week and suddenly at 199, 6xx there was catatrophic failure in the motor. According to the dealer and rod blew apart and they want $2400 to fix it. We took it to another mechanic and he agreed the motor was shot and will replace the motor. Meanwhile my mother in law is making all sorts of excuses, "Maybe you ran over something! Did you maintain it? Well, it is an old car." She even had one of the sons call the shop to verify what I was saying was true. I know all this may be ancedotal, but the point is that import owners are smug about their cars and when something does fail, they can not comprehend how that is possible because it is a Toyota or Honda. I have driven in her new Prius and noticed the plastics are not much better then domestics and there was a rattle coming from the rear hatch area. Our Lexus has also had issues...so in my experience Toyota are good cars but do not deserve all the great reputation they have.

And the V6 G6 made the recommended list from Consumer Reports. The Coralla my mother in law just gave me for my soon to be driving son, just blew up the other day. Looks like I am back in the market for a car for my son. Just shy of 200,000 miles and the Toyota suffered catastrophic failure. I am geeting a second opinion on the car today from a friend's shop. I am laughing and my mother in law who is a Toyota nazi is squirming and trying to make excuses for it, haha...

Stepping down seems a little to harsh. Whatever I read, I always read with the thgought that there may be some inaccuracies, so I do not place all the blame at Josh's feet. To Brian, good luck and this in no way diminishes my enthusiasm for Cheers and Geers. It's the first site I launch when I sit at my computer and it will remain so. Keep up the good work guys.

I bought mine new back in 93. The water does eventually drain out of the fake scoops on the standard 93-97 Firebird, as well as Trans Am and Formula without the 96-97 Ram Air. Having said that, it does not have any functional properties other then a styling gimick.

I wonder what Callaway has up his sleeve?

Good to hear Josh, and congratulations on your Solstice.

I have seen three up close Solstice on the road with some miles on it and found what is disturbing to me. The seat part of the leather already had a significant wrinkle in it at 400 miles ( I did not look to see how many miles were on the other two). Seems to me this part of the leather will wear out prematurely and sooner rather then later. How are your seats holding out? Just curious! The seats in my 93 TA did not rip a little on the side bolster until about 155,000 miles. Currently the car has about 164,000 miles and the rip is a little bigger, but I was always careful in regards to how I got into my car becuase I always knew GM's leather was not very tough. EDIT: spelling

Serves the "man in cloth" right for stealing money. Can a Protestant preacher be called "man of the cloth" like they do in Catholic chuch?

And that is the exact reason why my only car magazine subscription is Pontiac Enthusiast, because it is a niche monthly that caters only to a Pontiac Enthusiast and I don't have to read the drivel on the latest greatest refined import.
