  1. Just as long as this tech at this level does not show up on a Chevy Spark soon afterwords! Keep the Cadillac features more premium then the other GM brands!
  2. Now they need to do the same with a new line of compact DI Turbo V6's to replace today's NA ones! Then for Cadillac use the largest of these new engines in 2.0L I4-3.0L V6 and 4.0L V8 sizes with DI and Turbo Charging! I could see a future Chevy Impala with an opt 2.5L DI Turbo V6 with 270HP and a base 1.5L DI Turbo I4 with around 200HP! With Buick using a larger 1.8L I4 and 2.8L V6 to replace today's larger engines! With E assist these engines could be the powerful and efficient future for GM car models!
  3. I am not sold on the lacquered metallic grey plastic trim on the console and instrument surrounds. GM seems to have fallen in love with this stuff, but I think it just looks tacky and cheap. Plain old matte, soft touch upholstery would be better. I am also not sold on the broad stretch of black "canyons" above and below the silver trim across the dash. Is it better than the current car? I think so. Very much so. But is it bewitchingly beautiful and appealing? No, I think something cleaner and less cluttered will be better. From a power train standpoint, I wish GM will think outside the box a little bit. This is especially true of the niche models like the ECO. Instead of recycling the "old" 2.4 DI four with its eAssist BAS setup, I would have preferred if they tried something unique and more substantially different. If its me, I'll use a 1843 cc (1.8L) 3-cylinder version of the new 2.5 engine running a late closing intake cam with a turbocharger (Miller Cycle). The engine should provide about 170 hp & 200 lb-ft with substantial fuel economy benefits over a 4-cylinder engine in the 1.8 liter class. With a 15hp BAS this is also "adequate power" such that the car wouldn't be embarrassingly slow. I'll eschew a main stream V6 or turbo 4 altogether, but introduce a seriously performing SS model. I think this makes sense in that the typical soccer mom doesn't care for a V6 or a turbo 4. 4-cylinder Camry performance is more than enough. For the most parts they won't even know what a V6 or turbo is. All that matters is if the car is quiet, comfy, spacious, reliable and reasonably efficient. For the enthusiast, a mild turbo like the 220hp Regal or a 252hp V6 Malibu is not enough either. Instead, the SS can be exclusively an AWD car with a 3.0 Bi-turbo engine making ~360/360 lb-ft hp and hitting 60 mph in 4.6~4.8 secs. Interesting!! They could use this 1.8L I3 as the top engine in the Cruze also! It could even be the bases for a below SS performance version of the Sonic as well.
  4. Seems like this could be a path to Cadillac getting a modern DOHC V8...I can't see GM doing it from scratch. That's an intriguing thought! But would that not cause a BMW competitor in the new gen Cadillac's? I am not so sure BMW would want that!
  5. Build it (((NOW!)))
  6. Its wonderfully NON WEDGEY!!! More like a classic model yet modern at the same time!
  7. Freakin Finns??? Hell YAH!!
  8. GIMMIE!!-GIMMIE!!-GIMMIE!!
  9. Basing the ERX (nee SRX) on the XTS platform will bring back only lost sales . I know it was unique, but the first-generation SRX did not sell . The current one sells very well because that is what the market wants. As for your URX, I would leave it on GM's next truck platform since that is the most profitable. It was not the RWD that kept the first SRX from selling it was the strange styling. The RWD was superior dynamically and made for a far better crossover then todays nose heavy "should have been a Buick" mess. With a great styling upgrade inside and out using the latest CTS power they would have had a superior product to what they have today!
  10. I Really Like this. One question: where do the SRX and Escalade fit in ? I would base the SRX renamed ERX again on the CTS platform. It would obviously be Alpha based for the next version using the listed ATS or CTS power train options. The Escalade renamed URX would be ether again based on the future Truck platform or a crossover version of the listed STS platform. It would use the DI turbo 5.0L V8 tuned for high levels of torque.
  11. I think you'll find the 5th Gen small blocks to be more than decent. Delivering 450~470 hp and ~25 hwy mpg in a 4000 lbs car -- all while being physically smaller and lighter less than a BMW 4.4 -- with the aid of direct injection, variable timing and cylinder de-activation, this is not going to be your grandfather's small block. In many ways, a 6.2 badge is not a negative. And, for people and countries who shun that, a 3.0T would have been their cup of tea. I wasn't too fond of the "Ultra" DOHC V8 -- Northstar's still-born replacement. I felt that it was the wrong formula. It didn't offer what the competition didn't. If GM wanted a DOHC V8 I think they should do it as a 60 degree engine based on the High Feature V6 family. This would have at least been a very narrow and compact V8, that is also economical to develope and produce. Also, the HF V6 is capable of reaching 90hp/l on 87 octane and the 4.8 liter displacement would have been roughly were they would have wanted it to be anyway. A 60 deg engine based on the LFX would have been about 420~430hp / 365~370lb-ft. A single contra-rotating balancer would have made it on-par with the Volvo 4.4 V8s which is amply decent. As with many times before on here I like the way you think! A 60 degree V8 would be fine with me for Cadillac purposes. If not why not do DI DOHC 4VPC heads for the next gen SB V8 as a premium feature V8? They could use the OHV versions for Camaro,Corvette and Chevrolet Trucks while using the DOHC version for premium Buicks Denali GMC's and Cadillacs. This would help with differing the brands and making them more unique from one another. Your 60 degree premium/High Feature V8 could fill nearly the same much needed place within the engine lineup except for trucks. GM needs to do one of these I think so as to compete properly.
  12. With Cadillac talking about a $150K premium model sedan there needs to be more then three sedans to take up the range. I see my ULS as a Sixteen type of model that would be built to order and very limited. Perhaps bring on a modern A&S version of tail fins on this long and elegant model! The return of the larger then life Cadillac! No problem. I was confused, though, because you have the ULS priced so low (starting at 65k). One can dream Bro! :smilies-38096:

  15. I LOVE the idea of a V12!! And even though I adore the SB V8 I still wish for a DOHC 4VPC V8 to better fit in the premium Cadillac engine lineup. This seems to be more truthful of their path with the death of the Alpha V8 program. Interesting!
  16. This was pushed by Dan and his pall Obama! They LOVE far leftist crap like this!---SICK!
  17. LOVELY!! On a RWD platform with base DI Turbo I4 opt DI Turbo V6 this could be a unique from Camaro Model! Buick GNX!!
  18. GMC should move up market to become the mid-premium end of the GM truck. Lessen the premium features offered on Chevrolet Trucks at the same time as moving GMC up market. Denali should become the mid range within GMC's offerings with Cadillac just above any GMC. Use the "Professional Grade" moniker for fleet duty GMC models! Let GMC become the full framed Buick of GM trucks!
  19. As good as the OHV SB V8 is and could be with additional refinement's I wish GM would do DOHC 4VPC heads with Direct Injection for a premium SB V8. Keep the OHV versions for Chevrolet performance Cars and Truck models. I could see a nice short stroke, low deck height DOHC 5.5L version with 450-470HP as an opt on the next CTS and upcoming large RWD Cadillac model. Then do 5.3L-6.2L versions tuned for torque as GMC truck engines while Chevrolet could use the OHV versions. With the talk of GMC going up market this along with styling and features could help to define GMC more from Chevrolet! This SB V8 based 5.5L could being that its larger be more efficient then the smaller 4.8L HFV6 based V8 above being that it would turn slower to make the same power!
  20. This makes my (LITTLE GRAY CELLS) work over time! Its a (MYSTERY) to me how the next Terrain is to be smaller then it is today! I see it as a (DETECTIVE) would causing problems with sales if it goes to small! Drop the Acadia but leave the Terrain sized as it is today! Let the Yukon be the larger SUV within the GMC lineup and be more premium then the Chevy Tahoe/Suburban models!
  21. A ((FREAKIN MEN))!!! And offer a true bench seat in the base models as well! Nothing like a feminine, skirt waring girl under your right arm close as you steer with your left with all windows down in your Hard top,RWD,V8 coupe!!
  22. I still dont see why they have not found a way to use the free energy of the free turning non driving wheels to generate some electrical power. Perhaps store that power in batteries to drive various things like electric power steering, air conditioning ect. With the engine freed up to do no more then drive the car that would improve the efficiency.
  23. Great points all! With the movement to more OHC engines by GM in the past I was afraid they like the imports would lower the axle ratios to much. And that seems to be what they did and it cost them in fuel economy. A larger and slower turning engine OHC or OHV can be more efficient then a smaller and faster turning one. Have they forgot this in their ever increasing attempt to like the Japanese or the Germans? I personally think they have!
  24. They need a nice 170HP 2.0L DI I4 for the standard,LS and LTZ models. Then use the 1.4L Turbo version for the ECO and Hybrid versions. And with the 320HP AWD SS as mentioned above and a few styling alterations this could be a wonderful model!
  25. This lineup is so convincing that it has been used on other web sights as the "leaked future Cadillac ATS engine lineup"! Good going (dwightlooi)!!
