  1. I don't think missing school is ever a good idea but is it possible for you to get yor GED and start Junior college now? By the time your friends are graduating highschool you could have an associates degree. Going to a Junior College could be a fresh start for you and you probably wouldn't feel as trapped.
  2. The squished Civic.
  3. I picked number 7 cause it had the best looking body.
  4. Yes there are many foreign owned banks. I think this is an opportunity for the US government to bring up the fact that the DCX merger was not a merger of equals. Daimler-Chrysler was somewhat dishonest about their merger. It only stands to reason that they might not be completely honest about their intentions in creating a bank. Its very rare that the government gets a real opportunity to put its nose into the private sector and I hope they give them hell.
  5. Why sohould we let a company that is only 14% U.S. owned set up their own bank? Should the taxpayers and government really be lending money (throught the federal reserve) to a foreign bank so that they can cut U.S. banks out of making a profit on auto financing? I hope this is denied.
  6. I hope you're kidding.
  7. The interior is so ugly. The gaps and multiple plastics on the dash are cheap looking.
  8. In San Diego, I have seen several HHRs and tons of 06 Impalas. So far I haven't seen any 06 Civics or Fusion/Milan/Zephyrs.
  9. What about the ACLJ and people like Jay Sekulow who go around suing people because they don't want Evangelical Christianity forced on thme by the government. There are plenty of Christians (... and Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, and Hindus) that don't want christian beliefs taught in the schools, ten commandments in courthouses, or giant crosses on public property. The difference is that Hispanics, Asians, Muslims, Jews, etc. are not saying that they want to attack the constitution so that their minority group would be calling the shots. The Evangelical Christians would be activist judges and make law from the bench and force their religion down everyone elses throat. I am so glad that at least George Bush has been careful not to appoint these people. He has given us two Catholics instead. At least Catholics know the dangers of mixing church and state.
  10. The United States is ungovernable as much as California may be. But anyways, anyone who follows Nissan to Tennessee will be losing out. Losing out on great colleges, the most manufacturing jobs, great weather etc. There are a few places in the states that are better places to live than Southern California but none of them are anywhere near Nashville.
  11. I don't recall liberals running against "dumb hillbillies" in any previous election. I do however remember conservatives running on an anti-gay marriage platform. I find it interesting that the Pilgrims came to the U.S. because they were trying to escape the control of the Anglican Church. You remember that the church and government were mixed at this time in history. Now, we have the opposite happening here. The conservative churches are trying to get control of the government. These churches disapprove of any other christian churches (such as Unitarians) that support gay rights. These conservative churches would force their beliefs on everyone. I am not against Christian churches. There are a few Evangelical churches that espouse hatred instead of tolerance and that makes me really sad. There are many great churches of all faiths in this county but there are also many that are more focused on politics than on love and ministering to the poor.
  12. Last time I checked, we had conservatives and liberals alike in California. Contrast Orange County to San Francisco county and you can see the huge political diversity here. I would hope that conservatives also agree that hatred such as racism and homophobia is not "ideological" diversity but just plain old hatred.
  13. Have you ever seen that movie called "Ken Park" by the guy that directed, "KIDS"? It's really sick and there is this unforgettable scene of autoerotic asphyxiation.
  14. Could this be a Kappa Saab? I wonder if this is going to look anything like the solstice coupe concept at least from the rear. If Saab gets a Kappa coupe, hopefully GM will build an upscale Cadillac model as well.
  15. Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger together in a gay movie? This might be too much to handle! Especiallly after seeing Gyllenhaal as a Jarhead. I cant wait to see Brokeback Mountain. I hope its a good film but I have been disappointed with Ang Lee's recent films like the Hulk, and the Crouching Tiger- Hidden Dragon sequel.
  16. I thought GM was also working on a pick-up with a trunk in the bed. I sthere any chance of a NUMMI joint venture truck with Toyota? Possibly a hybrid?
  17. My example of narrow-minded (as judged from my own experience) is that they are overtly racist, homophobic and give more weight to religious dogma than science. And as for making things up, what I have said is factual. Your accusation is juvenile and baseless. Who are you Karl Rove? Go to your room young man!
  18. Maybe the kind of shake-up Nissan needs is to replace Ghosn with a Japanese executive that is more concerned about the company's image and quality.
  19. I have been to Nashville and likewise could not be paid enough to move there. Mainly because the people were so narrow minded. As to answer to how many manufacturing facilities there are in California, the answer is 49,291 (2000 U.S. Census) and thats more than twice as many as any other state. Not only do we build cars here, we build ships, planes, manufacture medicine, computers, electronics (cell phones, tv's, etc), automotive parts, spoting goods and the list goes on. So obviously "you are speaking like a blind man trying to describe an elephant!"
  20. uh, they tried this before. It was called Saturn and they moved to Spring Hill, TN to get away from the "Michigan mindset." We all know how well that worked out!
  21. Well, if we could get enough media coverage in the California press, we might be able to damage the brand. Let's hope we can.
  22. From recent rankings in U.S. News. Top National Universities 3 California Schools were in the top 20. (30 million people) at #5 Stanford at #7 California Institute of Technology (L.A. area) at #20-tie UC Berkeley - one of the highest ranked Public Shools on the list! For the entire Southern USA (91 million people) at #17 Rice University at #18 Vanderbilt University at #20-tie Emory University Top Liberal Arts Colleges 3 California Schools were in the top 20. (30 million people) #6 Pomona College (L.A. area) #10 Claremont McKenna College (L.A. area) #18 Harvey Mudd College (L.A. area) For the entire Southern USA (91 million people) none. SO, what are you talking about?
  23. So wrong, the US/Canada Fusion is the best looking car that Ford makes. The Global version of the Fusion is as crapulous as a Camry.
  24. From Autodeadline.com... "The xA speedster is the latest and greatest creation from Scion and Five Axis." Is that a projection screen under the hood?
  25. I am sure that Tennessee is quite beautiful. Houses are cheaper and land is plentiful but lets face it, Nashville is not what it was 20 years ago. Housing is getting expensive, the air is not as clean, and it has all the same problems as any large U.S. city. The bad part about moving to Tennessee is that your children will grow up with less advantages in terms of education, opportunity and diversity. As for California, I seriously doubt that taxes will increase much. We are the fifth largest economy in the world. We will be out of trouble in a few years. I'm more worried about the huge deficits of the Federal government. Those deficits will affect California and Tennessee the same.
