  1. Thanks. I've only been screaming this at the top of my lungs since the early nineties. Dear GM, Make some premium small cars so you can charge premium prices! Small does not need to mean cheap! Make a SMALL Cadillac in the 40-50K range and I will buy it! oh and small means small, it doesn't mean full-size. Repeat after me " small does not mean full-size" oh... why am I wasting my time.
  2. Sell HUMMER! It's not a legendary GM brand. Why let Hummer sink GM?
  3. The exterior isn't the best. It looks like a camry swallowing a G35. The interior is great. I love the back-up cam. I love all of the gimmicky technology that you can throw in for the money. I hope someone at GM is listening.
  4. well. when it comes right down to it. GM doesn't really need Pontiac, Buick, Hummer, SAAB or Saturn. The only problem is that if they kill any brand, they will never recover the lost market-share.
  5. I can't think of a single Japanese item that I want or must have. You are living in the past. All the best stuff is coming from Apple or Samsung. Japan is still cranking out cameras but really who cares? Kodak is still the best.
  6. Stop wasting money on Jaguar already. Let thme have 9 year product cycles! Focus on Ford and forget about this British trash already.
  7. Well the fugly Hyundai logo is still on the steering wheel. If they are going to keep the logo off the car, it should be off everywhere except under the hood.
  8. Love it! Finally a truck that doesnt look like a truck. Good job GM!
  9. A hot new TC will save Scion. As much as I can't stand Scion, the TC is a shining example of what a small fun car should be.
  10. Renault was AMC's partner so it makes perfect sense that Renault-Nissan will once again partner with Chrysler. I just hope the products are better this time around.
  11. The 368 hp might be worth the shame of driving a Hyundai.
  12. Finally, an automatic in the CTS-V! Good job Caddy! We want the power with the convenience of an automatic.
  13. Umm... 25 years ago was 1983.
  14. The front end is disgusting! Let British cars die already. They were never that good to begin with and they dont deserve resurrection.
  15. Look! Its the small 300 HP rear wheel drive cadillac that I have been begging for since 2003! oh darn its a BMW. I guess I'll just wait another million years before someone at GM actually does a consumer study instead of dictating consumer demand.
  16. I see the Toyota influences. This car is so boring from the front. Its ugly from the rear and pathetic from the side view. Then again have you seen the types that buy WRX's?
  17. Thank you! While this may not be the majority of the New Car market it is well over a third of it.
  18. California wants to require emission standards that are equal to those in Europe, China and Japan that are in place now but wont require it for years in the future. That makes us pompous asses? The world has passed us by. This is the kick in the ass that the domestic manufacturers need to get them to be able to compete on the world stage. Maybe instead of a retro kit we should charge non complying vehicles an extra $1000 a year to get a vehicle registration. That would put a dent in the domestic manufacturers bottom line.
  19. You may have won this battle Bush Administration but common sense will prevail and California and the other states will have their regulations! Governor Shwarzenegger and D.A. Jerry Brown are going to take this thing all the way to the Supreme Court if they need to. Also, we should have a new Democratic administration within a year that will finally settle this once and for all.
  20. New York Times Story December 20, 2007 G.M. Selling a Truck Business to Navistar By NICK BUNKLEY DETROIT — General Motors said Thursday that it had agreed to sell its medium-duty truck business to Navistar International, an Illinois-based maker of trucks and diesel engines. The companies did not disclose terms of the deal, which they expect to close on in 2008. Analysts have estimated the unit, which includes the GMC TopKick and Chevrolet Kodiak, to be worth about $500 million with annual revenue of $2 billion. G.M. has been shedding assets outside of its core operations to increase liquidity and focus on its turnaround. In the last year, it has sold controlling stakes in its finance arm, the General Motors Acceptance Corporation, and its Allison Transmission unit. Navistar, which was formerly known as International Harvester, plans to move production of the TopKick and Kodiak to one of its own factories, although it did not say where. G.M. will retain ownership of the Flint, Mich., plant that currently builds them. The trucks will continue to be sold at G.M. dealers. “Navistar’s expertise in building International brand commercial trucks and its track record in the medium-duty segment makes them an excellent choice to acquire and continue growing the business,” said Troy Clarke, the president of G.M.’s North American operations. “We intend to work closely with Navistar to make this transition seamless to our dealers and customers.” Navistar has been vocal about its interest in G.M.’s medium-duty unit, which built 59,000 vehicles last year, earning 12 percent of the market. “We are proud to incorporate the G.M. truck brands into our portfolio, and will utilize the scale to build on the success of both the International and G.M. product lines and their respective distribution networks,” said Navistar’s chairman and chief executive, Daniel C. Ustian. G.M. recently said it was shutting down medium-duty production for five weeks, starting this weekend, because of lower demand. About 500 hourly workers will be on a layoff during that period.
  21. I hate it when people use cruise control on the highway.
  22. KBB.COM link KBB.COM NAMES CHEVROLET MALIBU 2008 BEST REDESIGNED VEHICLE 2008 Malibu Redesign Beats Out Honda Accord IRVINE, Calif., December 11, 2007 – Kelley Blue Book® (www.kbb.com), the leading provider of new and used vehicle information, announces the Chevrolet Malibu as the winner of the “2008 Best Redesigned Vehicle” award. According to the kbb.com editorial team, the newly redesigned 2008 Chevrolet Malibu is being honored for taking the important mid-size car category to a new level of overall refinement. Specifically, its stylish sheetmetal, attractive interior, well-sorted ride-and-handling characteristics and quiet – all in a very affordable vehicle – combined to produce a value equation that set it apart from the pack. More than 30 vehicles were redesigned for the 2008 model year. Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com editorial team reviewed the complete list to identify vehicles that demonstrated the greatest improvement relative to their predecessors and competitors. Factoring into the final decision were judgments on exterior and interior styling, technology, comfort and convenience features, performance/capability, driving dynamics, safety, fuel economy, overall refinement and value. A major factor contributing to the Malibu’s 2008 win is the vehicle's market significance. “The 2008 Malibu solidified its case for kbb.com’s ‘2008 Best Redesigned Vehicle’ with a top-to-bottom, inside-and-out remake that's nothing less than game-changing,” said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book and kbb.com. “The new Malibu has earned its place at the top of one of the toughest and most competitive categories in the industry. It can take on any competitor head-to-head.” Rounding out the top 10 finalists for kbb.com’s “2008 Best Redesigned Vehicle” were (in alphabetical order) the Audi TT, Cadillac CTS, Honda Accord, Infiniti G37, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Mitsubishi Lancer, Porsche Cayenne, Saturn Vue and Toyota Highlander. “As we've come to expect in recent years, each vehicle on this year's list of finalists represents a huge step forward versus its predecessor,” said Nerad. “The presence of the CTS and Vue along with the Malibu marks a significant resurgence in product offerings from the domestic manufacturers. The domestics have proven they can play in the big leagues again with no excuses.” The year 2008 is the second time in the award's five-year history that a manufacturer has taken the title in back-to-back years. In the 2004 and 2005 races for the “Best Redesigned Vehicle” award, Ford took the top prize with the complete redesign of its flagship pickup, Ford F-150, and with the retro-styled Ford Mustang (respectively). Honda broke the streak in 2006 with the redesigned Civic coupe and sedan, and Chevrolet won in 2007 with the Silverado full-size pickup. “The pace of change continues to accelerate, with each new redesigned model offering greater and greater improvements over its predecessor,” said Nerad. “More power combined with better fuel economy is one welcome trend, as is the rapid proliferation of technologies like Bluetooth® phone connectivity, push-button start and navigation systems with real-time traffic information.” Vehicles usually are redesigned every four to five years, although some brands wait longer to redesign their models. When a model is redesigned, the value of the previous generation often declines sharply.
