The engineer on the MetroLink train "ran a red" and proceeded down the track. Its operator error. It just happened to be in the worst possible place with the freight train coming out of tunnel and going downhill and the metrolink turning a 90 degree turn directly into the freight train.

The shopping mall near my house in Carlsbad, Ca has public announcements in English, German, French, Japanese and Spanish. The signs are in English, Spanish and Japanese. It blows your Asians "are the good minority" theory to pieces.

Apparently you CAN put lipstick on a pig!!! just kidding Really, she is the most repulsive woman ever. The more you find out about her the more you hate her.

I'm thinking the "North American" interested party might be those guys down in Mexico trying to build a supercar. This would give them the factory and technical expertise to do it.

Reuters Story DETROIT (Reuters) - Chrysler LLC has drawn interest from international and North American parties for the possible sale of its high-performance Dodge Viper sports car line, Vice Chairman and President Jim Press told reporters on Wednesday. Chrysler in late August announced it was exploring the sale of the Viper sports car business as part of its effort to generate cash and ride out the deepening U.S. auto industry downturn. The Viper is a low-volume V10-powered sports car first produced in 1992. "We have been approached by outside individuals who want to work with us to buy the asset and sustain Viper going forward," Press told reporters after an Automotive Press Association event. Viper needs development, and Chrysler is putting its money into advanced technology, Press said, adding later that the future of the automotive industry lies in the development of battery technology. "Someone who is better able to make money in a business model that is hand-built 50 units at a time, those people can invest in the product, expand the product line and make it a much more robust vehicle," Press said. "I think that will preserve Viper to the fullest." Press said it would not be necessary for Chrysler to retain any stake in the sports car line. He added that it was difficult for an organization to focus on building 300,000 vans per year profitably and low-volume hand-built sports cars. Chrysler sold about 680 Viper sports cars in the first eight months of the year. The privately held car company has struggled along with other automakers through a downturn in U.S. sales in recent years that has landed hardest on large trucks and SUVs. Chrysler, which retained Lazard as its financial adviser on Viper, had said earlier that it had identified about $1 billion in non-earning assets for potential sale to raise cash. Drive around Southern California. You will see billboards in Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Spanish and English. It's not the immigrants putting up these big signs! Its the rich white Americans trying to make a buck. So stop blaming the immigrants. How many immigrants do you know that can afford a billboard along interstate 5!?!?

Republicans hate domestic cars because American cars are made by unions. I always hear them chirping, " i would never buy an American car because I dont support the unions!" On the other hand, every card-carrying democrat that I know buys American to support the national economy and the unions. As for Obama's so-called "liberal extreme" record. I would say that he is the only moderate in all of the Senate and he stands up to the far right wing element that was in power durning the majority of the Bush admininistration. What makes him extreme? Being against abortion, not wasting his time on gay rights? Thinking the rich should actually pay taxes instead of sneaking through loopholes? If that is extreme than I hope the whole nation goes EXTREME liberal.

I love it! It looks fresh and unlike anything else on the road. If this is the car that they are building with General Electric, I would seriously consider purchasing it. If Chrysler is to survive, it needs to dump its current "nonsense" lineup with the exception of its iconic cars like the Wrangler, Ram and Caravan.

The best way to stop energy speculation would be to increase the capital gains taxes on commodities and increase the base tax rate for stock brokers!

Chrysler needs to drop the pretense. It is not a luxury or near luxury brand. They had some good cars in years past. The whole bloated brick car thing is over. The 300C is monstrous. The Neon should come back and maybe some fun cars like the plymouth sundance or dodge omni. I would like to see chrysler make a comeback. It would be good for America.

Intellectual property rights??? Are Republicans the new China?? This is kind of funny... Heart have sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Republican Party in the US after controversial Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin used their song during her appearance at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday (September 3). Heart singers Ann and Nancy Wilson say that the Republicans did not ask for permission to use their track ‘Barracuda’. The song is unofficially the theme for Palin, who was nicknamed ‘Sarah Barracuda’ when she played basketball in high school. The Wilsons have asked the party not to use the song again and say they would not have allowed it to be used in the first place. "The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission," the sisters said in a statement, according to Reuters. The Republicans were sued last month by Jackson Browne after they reportedly used his song ‘Running On Empty’ in an ad for Presidential candidate John McCain.

You are categorically wrong about USA manufacturing being helped by the weak dollar. The latest figures show that American manufacturing has actually contracted and it was in part due to high fuel costs. What Bush could have done to help the economy is to NOT have run up the debt in the first place. When he took office there was a surplus, a stronger dollar and the debt was on its way to being zero. McCain and the Republicans never saw a tax dollar that they didn't want to spend. In fact, they spent far more than they took in and foolishly cut taxes at the same time. The "spend and spend" Republicans have bankrupted the nation. This has nothing to do with an economic cycle. Seriously, we need to hear how they intend to fix the economy before they start yammering on about abortion, gay marriage, 9-11 and all the other b-s that is intended to divert attention from the real issues affecting our nation.

Yes I did watch it. She was very charming and photogenic but everything out of her mouth was a half-truth at best. I was on the floor rolling in laughter when she was saying that the Republicans are the party of alternative energy, like wind and solar. And what about the economy? No plan??? better attack Obama.

It's too bad "the media and the street" couldn't have forced GM into making better cars. Then they wouldn't need to sell Hummer.
-
Oh... and John Mc Cain was a POW in Vietnam. Did he mention that???? How about some more recent history. John McCain was a member of the Keating 5. The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. He's still corrupt. He just knows how to cover his butt now. If McCain wins - America is screwed.

I was waiting for Palin to start making "Obama's mama is so fat.." jokes. She gives a lovely presentation but her lack of experience and lack of substance really shows. Biden is going to have her for lunch at the Vice Presidential debate.

Business Link news story GM: Hummer Gone In Six Months. We Promise G.M. is getting closer to dealing its gas guzzling Hummer division, says The Deal. Who wants such a vehicle with gas prices sky-rocketing? Middle Eastern investors, of course. That's probably the only place it costs less than a monthly mortgage payment to fill up. The Deal: The second in command at General Motors Corp. said Wednesday, Sept. 3, the automaker expects to sell its Hummer brand by early 2009 as part of the company's plan to raise cash to weather a slumping economy that has dragged down car sales.... Original article in The Deal GM to unload Hummer by early 2009 by Lou Whiteman Updated 06:13 PM EST, Sep-3-2008 The second in command at General Motors Corp. said Wednesday, Sept. 3, the automaker expects to sell its Hummer brand by early 2009 as part of the company's plan to raise cash to weather a slumping economy that has dragged down car sales. Detroit-based GM put Hummer on the block in June, part of an effort to reduce the company's emphasis on selling gas-guzzling sport utility vehicles in favor of manufacturing more fuel-efficient vehicles. The company said last month it has received expressions of interest from potential buyers and that it is preparing to open formal talks over a possible deal. Speaking to reporters in India, GM chief operating officer Fritz Henderson said the Hummer auction is being conducted "on an urgent basis." He also said a deal by the end of the year is possible, while noting that "if it takes us to early next year, that is OK, too." Company officials have mentioned a handful of unnamed Middle Eastern investors as potential bidders for Hummer, and industry sources say those parties or private equity firms could partner with an emerging-markets automaker to buy the brand. India's Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., which last year lost out to domestic rival Tata Motors Ltd. in an auction of Ford Motor Co.'s Land Rover and Jaguar units, and Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska's Russian Machines have been mentioned as potential suitors for Hummer, though both have denied interest. Most in the industry still expect foreign nameplates to get involved in a Hummer auction, although fear of a global slowdown could temper enthusiasm and lower the final sale price. Indeed, a sale of Hummer, though significant, is unlikely to make a major dent in the $15 billion GM has said it plans to raise by the end of 2009 to survive a slowdown in the U.S. economy. The automaker, which had $21 billion in liquidity as of June 30 but which burned through more than $1 billion a month in the second quarter, has said it hopes to use white-collar restructuring, new asset-backed borrowing and divestitures to boost its cash pile. The automaker lost $15.5 billion in the second quarter and has bled through more than $50 billion, including charges, over the past three years. GM on Wednesday said U.S. light-vehicle sales fell 20.3% year-over-year in August to roughly 307,000 units, with light trucks leading the way down with a 24.1% sales decrease. This year, GM sales in the U.S. are down 18.5%. GM knows firsthand how difficult it can be to sell truck assets in the current environment. The company saw a potential sale of its medium-duty truck business to Navistar International Corp. fall apart last month due to high oil prices and weakening demand for the fuel-hungry vehicles. Navistar and GM said they intended to continue discussions about the unit, which would give Warrenville, Ill.-based Navistar much-needed scale in the truck business.

All the pictures make it look like it is in an emergency braking situation. Why is the front end sinking so low?
-
The best I can say is BUTT UGLY. I do mean just the back of the car. The trunk is too high up into the rear window. Has anyone at GM seen a modern coupe recently???? This is looking as bad as the last failed GM coupe ( the G6). No wonder GM believes people don't want to buy coupes.

Keep the jobs in America. Our money is so devalued, GM can make a killing building these here and exporting them.

I used to go all the time in the early 90' when people were still talking about art and literature but nowadays, the independent coffehouses are mostly gone and Starbuck's is full of bible study groups. So the answer is NO!

Spy Shots: Chevy Cruze shows off its interior
SoCalCTS replied to Intrepidation's topic in Chevrolet
That's a nice interior. It will never see the light of day in the USA. GM thinks American's don't deserve nice interiors in small cars. They also think we are too stupid to demand them. So trust me, whenever the Cruze comes to America, you can expect to see cheap plastic, a cheap radio and no screen in the dash. GM will talk about price points and brand positioning etc but you will never see this kind of interior on a small car at any price point or brand. I DARE GM to bring this kind of interior. I know they won't. -
This is another stupid step backwards. Save the 4 cylinder turbo for the BLS or the upcoming small Caddy. The CTS needs to be at least 300 hp to keep it competitive. As a current first generation Cadillac CTS owner I feel the cts could use a little more power.

Generally, I disapprove of the Iranian government's desire to establish Muslim states throughout the middle East. Church and state should be separate. I can not believe any information regarding their desires to make nuclear weapons. The Bush administration is totally corrupt when it comes to foreign policy. There were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and Iran probably doesnt have them either. I need to wait until we get a new administration and new intelligence on Iran before I could even consider if we should be worried about them.

The fire season has extened 71 days in the last 40 years and the acreage burnt has more than doubled. This is more evidence that something is going on. Even if the fires were started by lightning, that is still more evidence that the weather is changing.
