  1. Currently, the least expensive way to get into a 3-row Cadillac was to pony up $76 kilo-dollars for a base Cadillac Escalade. Even then, check too many boxes on the option sheet and the price could easily head well into the $80k range. When the Cadillac XT6 hits dealership later in couple months, that line in the sand will fall by over $20k. Cadillac will begin taking orders on the XT6 later this month with a base price starting at $53,690. That gets you a front-wheel drive Premium Luxury model. The XT6 Sport with standard all-wheel drive starts at $58,090 (including destination charge for both). All XT6 models are powered by a 3.6 liter V6 producing 310 hp and a 9-speed automatic transmission shifting power to the wheels. Active fuel management and Start/Stop are standard. The Sport model features standard Continuous Damping Control suspension. You can read more about the Cadillac XT6 from our coverage of the reveal at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show.
  2. Because most of the work is already being done for their other EV pursuits and why not make an option for customers who have a very specific use profile. This isn't going to be the answer for every Joe the Plumber out there, but there is a market for it for local delivery, hotel shuttles, and similar. They already have the body shell, they already have the power train in development. Put the two together.
  3. V6 engines are smoother and have better power delivery characteristics, no lag waiting for turbos to spool. In GM's case, the v6 can also run in 4 cylinder mode at highway speeds.
  4. Polestar sells gasoline powered cars too under the Volvo brand.
  5. A 275hp V6 is always better than a 275hp 4 cylinder...
  6. Volvo caused a stir on Monday when it announced that it would begin setting a 112-mph top speed on all of its vehicles starting with the 2020 model year. The goal of the limit is to strive toward Volvo's Vision 2020 Plan to eliminate fatalities or serious injury in all Volvo new vehicles. That release made no mention of Volvo's Polestar brand. CNET Roadshow interviewed Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath who said "We obviously will not do that, and it is a nice brand differentiator". Polestar is considered a performance brand, but he thinks that talking maximum speed is missing the point with regard electric cars. Most of the focus on EVs tends to be around the 0-60 performance rather than max speed. As Polestar is still a Volvo at heart, it will benefit from Volvo's safety know-how, but it won't pursue a safety image like Volvo has. Polestar unveiled the Polestar 2 electric car at the Geneva Auto Show this week. Read more below. Related: View full article

  8. Euro and US Passats are different sizes.
  9. I mean I do... I have to from time to time. They don't have natural keyboards on laptops. I just type better on a natural keyboard. Both my home setup and work setup have the same keyboard as you though.
  10. Yeah, that was a misstep on Mazda's part.
  11. What would be some nominations for 7 wonders of the automotive world? I'll compile a list from your nominations and we'll have an article about it. You don't need to nominate 7 in total, just something you think should be included on the list. Just picking your favorite cars isn't going to be enough. The vehicle should be historically significant and/or mark a departure in automotive design/technology. I'm going to try to include some from America, Asia, and Europe so we're not so heavily weighted. In any case, when explaining automobiles to some alien race, these 7 vehicles should tell a story about why they are the most important ones in automotive history.
  12. I have that same keyboard. I've used "natural" style keyboards for over 20 years.
  13. I would expect the Arteon to have much better NVH. Non-Genesis Hyundais tend to have some refinement issues from their engines, but without the information on the Sonata being released, we'll just have to wait and see what they did with the powertrain.
  14. Red is kinda Mazda's signature color. Like Jaguar with their green.
  15. Passat and Arteon are pretty close in size. Not enough difference to be significant. Passat is a big mid-size.
  16. I like Mazda red. Their blue is good too.
  17. Dare I say... this looks just as good as the Arteon
  18. Looks like a pretty basic model.
  19. Hyundai has released pictures of the next generation 2020 Hyundai Sonata about a month ahead of the cars formal debut at the New York International Auto Show. This eighth generation Sonata is an all-new design that is much bolder than the rather conservative model currently on sale. The new design theme is called Sensuous Sportiness. The new car is larger than the outgoing model by 1 inch in width, 1.4 inches in wheelbase, and 1.8 inches in length. Hyundai has made efforts to improve the premium feel of the cabin. The dash has a minimalist feel to it while the dash cluster and infotainment system are fully digital. One notable feature is the daytime running lamps. When illuminated, the lights run on a strip up the outer seams of the hood, but when switched off they appear as pieces of chrome trims. Hyundai calls them Hidden Lighting Lamps. The Sonata will also feature a digital key that will allow drivers to use their smartphone to unlock and start the car. No word yet on powertrains. The 2020 Sonata will debut at the New York Auto Show in April and will go on sale later this year. Related: View full article
