  1. There are going to be fewer mechanical variations between vehicles. A company like VW could have power units in Small, Medium, and Large.... three variants to replace all of the gasoline/diesel/hybrid power train combinations they currently have. And the only thing making them different will be the software. You can see why manufacturers see the potential cost savings to them for switching to EVs.
  2. It's remarkably hard to be a GM fanboy these days. GM doesn't take risks anymore and even their conservative stuff is too conservative and plain.
  3. The CT6 isn't going anywhere... it will continue in production in China and then possibly again back in the US for the next generation.
  4. Does the UAW come with the property? Mitsubishi
  5. Equinox: Cargo behind 2nd row - 29.90 ft3 Cargo with 2nd row folded - 63.90 ft3 Blazer: Cargo behind 2nd row - 30.50 ft3 Cargo with 2nd row folded - 64.20 ft3 Blazer is about .7 cubic foot bigger, which is nothing. Only one China made GM these days... Buick Envision. There were two, but the CT6 Plug-In was withdrawn from the US market. It remains on sale in China.
  6. Volkswagen has announced it will cut between 5,000 to 7,000 jobs through attrition and early retirement at its headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany. Most of the job cuts will be administrative staff. While cutting those job, VW will be creating 2,000 new software and electronics jobs. The cuts are part of a cost savings plan to drive 3€ Billion in annual savings by 2020 and 5.9€ billion by 2023. The move comes the day after the company announced it will increase its EV plans to build 22 million units over the next decade. Electric vehicles are less complex to build and require fewer workers. Volkswagen is building a new EV platform and the first vehicle to arrive on the market will be the I.D. Neo, expected sometime in 2020. The I.D. Neo will be built at a plant in Zwickau, Germany. Future electric vehicles will be built in 7 additional factories including Chattanooga, Tennessee. View full article

  8. I don't believe it saves it. It is a fuel saving measure... you always start out in 2wd mode.
  9. The EPA has announced that FCA will be issuing a voluntary recall of 862,520 gasoline vehicles in the United States that do not meet emissions standards. The vehicles covered are the 2011-2016 Dodge Journey, 2011-2014 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger, 2011-2016 Jeep Patriot and Compass (with CVT and FWD), and 2011-2012 Dodge Caliber. Due to the scope of the recall, the fixes will be issued in stages starting with the oldest vehicles. The fix involves replacing the catalytic converter. FCA has stated there are no safety concerns and no fines will be issued by the EPA. The issue was discovered during routing in-use emissions testing by FCA and subsequently reported to the EPA. FCA just settled a claim by the EPA that FCA used a cheat device in its diesel trucks and SUVS. View full article

  11. I think the key words are "up to". That much torque would rip apart a Renegade.
  12. It's the same as the business case for the Mercedes GLA which is selling great.

  15. It will be the size of the Durango most likely.
  16. Volkswagen has announced they are increasing their goal to build fully electric vehicles from 15 million to 22 million over the next decade. 18. Because there is some overlap in the segment. A lot of people who buy Explorers never need the 3rd row, so a GC would be just fine. However, Jeep customers who want a 3-row have no place to go. Technically, different segments, but with so much overlap they are often counted as one.
  19. and Theresa May's second deal vote just failed in Parliament. Now its either a hard Brexit or another referendum.
  20. It would certainly work. I think Liberty could work also. The wrench in the gears is the Chinese Grand Commander which is smaller than what this GC based 3-row will be. They'd have to be okay with having the names mixed up as they cross the Pacific.
  21. no no... I misread Nascar Cafe as Nescafé, which is a type of instant coffee.
  22. It's a highly profitable segment, especially when they can build it on the truck frame. Most of the Dev work there is done.
  23. Better than the G80, yes. Not as handsome as the G90 though. The G70 is a different class and attitude.
  24. I'm not buying another piece of equipment just to have voice control. Voice control doesn't even work well enough for me to use it much.
  25. That plan also includes China... and China already gets a 3-row Cherokee called the Grand Commander. Again, the Wagoneer is the SWB full-size. The Grand Wagoneer is the LWB full-size.
