    Tesla posted a $722M loss for the first quarter of 2019, higher than analysts expectations. This was a swing from a 4th quarter 2018 profit of $139.5M. Cash on hand is $1.5B lower than end of 2018, now $2.2B, partially due to a one time payment of $920M in convertible bonds that came due. Tesla says that is built 63,000 model 3s in the first quarter gearing up for overseas sales, though only 12,100 of those vehicle were delivered. Tesla is maintaining its projections of 360,000 to 400,000 vehicles total for the year. Tesla recently announced updates to its Model S and Model X vehicles that allow them to travel further on a single charge and also charge up to 50% faster than before. These updates require the purchase of a new vehicle and cannot be simple downloads over the air. They are also offering current owners who purchase a new Model S or Model X Performance model a free upgrade to Ludicrous Mode. Part of the reason for this upgrade is that the Model S, Model X, and Model 3 now share drive components and that simplification could yield big savings for the company.     Your transmission is electronically controlled. So it's unlikely your shift points have actually changed.

    My guess is that they'll likely use the tech to make phones thinner and lighter rather than extending the time it can go without charging... but you never know. It could be a combination of both.

    Eventually Electrify America and other will probably put a fast charger station in where you can top up another 150 miles in 15 minutes. The next generation of EVs would probably get you there no issue. Or a Model S as of yesterday's announcement.

    370 miles on the new Tesla model S and it even charges 50% faster now. But I specifically said, "in daily life" in reference to @balthazar not wanting to stop at a shopping mall.

    Again, with home charging, you can start every day with a full tank. You may never need to charge while out and about in daily life if you're home charging. There's no need to stop at all with an EV. Charge while you're home surfing Cheersandgears.com.

    Looks matter. Put the powertrain in the Lacrosse or Regal and I'd drive it.

    Going to the mall to charge is not a very cost efficient way of charging. Charge at home, run your errands, go home and plug back in. On something like a Chevy Bolt, it is unlikely that your daily errands are going to take 250 miles to complete. I think I calculated that I could commute to work every day for a week and plug in only on weekends in a Bolt. I do have charging stations in the parking facility next to my office and the charging station in the picture above is about a mile from my office. It's not always located in a shopping area.

At the moment, Tesla Supercharging is not yet compatible with the feature. Searching is available on Android, iOS, Desktop, and Android Auto. Availability in Android Auto means that drivers of cars equipped with Android Auto now have real time charging information available directly on their car's infotainment system.     So we're still looking for the Model-T of the EV world. It'll happen. I still maintain that the Bolt's relatively poor sales are largely due to its dorky shape. Had they built some SA into it or made it more of a crossover (mutually exclusive, I know) it would have sold a lot better. It's not a bad car to drive at all and in reality could satisfy the needs of most small and mid-size sedan drivers.

    What EVs were sold commercially at scale in the 1970s? It took a long time for cars to scale and they were for the 1%ers

    you mean the same motors as the model 3

    Volvo does it because they turbo and supercharge them on the upper models. @balthazar is right on this one. The current 4.3 has no relation to the old 4.3 from '87. That was on the cars.

    Just more evidence that the first gen Olds Aurora was the first "4-door coupe"! It has frameless glass too!
