  1. I noticed it, but let it go. I hear $h! like that from the 323 drivin gay boys who insist *their* V6 is better than my CTS's V6. I'll agree that the BMW 6 is a bit smoother, but I have more gitty-up..... and at least I know what configuration my engine is in. Isn't the old GS I6 related to the Supra motor?
  2. Just because it's there, doesn't mean we have to use it...... if we can use a fuel that: 1. produces less polution <through production methods> 2. is more CO2 neutral <the gross amount of CO2 introduced to the atmosphere minus the CO2 removed from the atmosphere by the plants> 3. is a locally produced .... Ford employees are gonna need jobs dontcha know 4. Can get the same mileage as gasoline if the engines are tuned for it as a primary fuel. 5. Costs less. Why wouldn't we use it? Me, I'm excited by the possibility of buying an E85 burning Avalanche Hybrid next year. Once I get it, I'll only fill up with E85 because I want to support the enviroment, U.S. jobs, save some cash, and not support Al Quiada. Before you rant at me for driving an Avalanche... it's my secondary vehicle that I use for business purposes. I own a bunch of apartment buildings and use the Avalanche to haul construction materials. I use the bus for trips in the city and have a CTS as a roadtrip car.
  3. The Buicks only have bigger engines available for more money and GM has not said they are replacing the 3800 in the W or G/H bodies any time soon. The 6speed will likely not go into the W-body and probably not go into the G-body. Lexus on the otherhand replaced an old engine with a superior engine for the same money. You point doesn't hold.
  4. We've seen, more often then not, that the EPA ratings on many <not all> Asian cars is.... optimistic. While quite often, many American cars <GM especially, Ford less so> handily beat the EPA ratings. Highway rating for the Cobalt is 32 or 34 depending on the model. A fairly substantial number of owners regularly report 36mpg or 40mpg. Highway rating for the 4 cylinder Malibu is 32, yet again owners regularly report 35+. Highway rating for the V6 Malibu is 32. Owners regularly report 34+. The Prius, the supposed mileage king, gets substantially less than it's EPA mileage. The highway rating of the Corolla is 38 or 41, depending on the model..... suprisingly owners don't see that kind of mileage unless they're on flat land with the cruise on and the A/C off at 55mph. So yah, lets not compair real world to EPA.... it would take away the Asian's unjustified perceved marketing advantage.
  5. walt layin out the smack down!
  6. meh, a '94 Bonneville is still much more comfortable and comes close in highway mileage
  7. Best situation is #3... leave the cruise on. Otherwise situation 2 saves the most fuel.
  8. I stay very bleeding edge. I'm running Windows Vista RC1 now..... have been for about a week and not looking back. I dual boot to Ubuntu Linux.
  9. You're thinking P IV. Celerons are newer than PIII.
  10. yum
  11. These new banner ads look like drug ads. "Find out if Versa is right for you" To learn more "Download PDF", where download pdf is in a pill shape. Versa (next generation subcompact) And of course touting the 36mpg highway What Nissan hasn't seemed to realize is everyone hates drug ads. Are people going ga-ga over 36mpg in this car? Mom's old '94 base Bonneville could do 32mpg highway if you were gentle. Cobalts and 4-cylinder Malibus hit 36 mpg no problem. V6s do 33.
  12. awesome, you can be our mole on the inside....
  13. Is this the same receptionist that hits on you trinacriabob? And no, tampering with someone's mail, even if the mail is recieved at a place of business is still illegal. dunno about FedEx, UPS though....
  14. Lock yourself in a garage with a SULEV vehicle running for 40 minutes.... once you return you can tell us about how cars are cleaner than the enviroments they are in...... we'll wait...
  15. crap that interior is HOT!
  16. what about the oil fields that have already run dry? The earth replaces the fish in the North Atlantic with more fish.... ask the local fisherman how things are these days.
  17. Chas has driven some of those 6 wheel drive Army trucks.
  18. but.... do you have any advice for us when in China?
  19. I'm sure fly could have pulled it off. on a semi-related note, aren't B-52s supposed to be able to land at up to a 45 degree angle?
  20. Probably fairly well. From what I understand, the A380 has rear turbulance issues that end up effecting fuel economy. As far as jumbo jets go, the '47 is fairly efficient on a fuel per person per mile measurement. The 380, not so much. So the Americans are probably thinking: "With the A380, I'll have 500 people on the plane, but I'll spend more per person on fuel, and have to upgrade my terminal facilities, maintanence trucks and only operate them out of limited airports. With the '47, I just swap it out for one of my old models with less capacity.... and I save on fuel.... and I don't have to make any terminal upgrades" Of course if you're Richard Bransonm you simply say to Airbus, "Is there anything you can do about my incredibly small penis?"
  21. Aren't the only airports in the US that can even handle the 380 without major upgrades, LAX, JFK, DFW, and ORD? The only US carriers to buy A380s are UPS and FedEx at 10 each.
  22. probably the Middle east spec car....
  23. well, now we get to the crux of the problem...... Still, in a modern day situation, two very similar sized sedans, similar power, both with stability control, one FWD, one RWD. In the same hands, which would do better? If my mother was driving, probably the TL. If I were driving, it'd probably be a wash. That is the question most people ask in their heads when shopping for a car. There aren't too many Chevette/Corvette crossshoppers anymore.
