  1. If anything can drive Toyota off this continent.... it's the UAW... if they put their brains to it. Look at how well they've done driving Chrysler, Ford and GM to the brink.
  2. FTA: I smell SRX fiasco all over again.....
  3. Just a guess, but there may be packaging issues.....
  4. bet he wouldn't be saying that if he were sittin inside.....
  5. I hope that the new "technological marval" plant they built for Sigma can be used for Zeta then.... they spent a LOT of money on that new plant.
  6. Can you really see them retiring the Sigma platform this soon while keeping the G-body DTS around? If what you say is right, the CTS will be the only vehicle left on Sigma and that's a LOT of development dollars and factory dollars to just have one car on.
  7. because that isn't just 1 unit. Onstar wasn't static technology from the time in was introduced till today. There are many many different variations of the onstar hardware straight from the begining. More than likely GM would have to develop a digital version of EACH analog version of Onstar that was produced. Again, could the revenue generated from those subscribers pay for the cost of the development? How much would those subscribers be willing to pay for the upgrade hardware.... or should that just be free?
  8. Sadly... it's not GM's or Onstar's call. Look at it this way. Would enough revenue be generated for GM from all those older Onstar vehicles to justify developing an upgrade package? How about I flip the coin another way...... GM had the foresight all the way back in 2000 to start releasing vehicles that could be upgraded. They didn't offer the upgrade back then because they didn't know where the Verizon technology would be. So instead, they just made the vehicles upgrade capable.
  9. Lutz confirms V12 in development for Cadillac flagship It's official. It's been confirmed: Cadillac is preparing a new V12 flagship. That's straight from the mouth of our favorite man in the business, Bob Lutz. On a recent trip across the pond, GM's venerated product guru confirmed in an interview to the British car magazine AutoWeek that they are indeed working on a twelve-cylinder engine, slated to power a new range-topping, import-beating "Cadillac of Cadillacs," a super-luxury-sedan to rival the likes of the Mercedes S-Class and Lexus LS in the grandest of American style. he new powerplant is being fabricated from two of GM's 3.6-liter 60-degree V6 engines mounted on a common crankshaft. Far from relying solely on cylinder count, sources speculate the engine will also benefit from such features as direct injection and cylinder deactivation, resulting in a 7.2-liter V12 with somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 horsepower and 540 lb-ft of torque.
  10. No, I'm not defending GM/Onstar on an '04. I'm saying that it's silly to "never again buy GM" because of it....especially when little to nothing was paid for it in the first place. Should his '04 get upgraded? Yes of course! My '04 can get upgraded.
  11. *gasp* you don't mean!?! Lexus couldn't upgrade their older equipment either?! NO WAY!
  12. So.... let me get this straight. You're willing to leave Chevy because they can't upgrade your OnStar.... and go to a model line that doesn't have a telematics SOS system anything close to Onstar.... Again, I can understand if you were upset about an STS and were thinking of going Lexus...but being upset with a Chevy and Lexus is now one of your considerations.... that's just silly. A GMS Impala SS was likely in the mid-20s for you. That'll get you a loaded 4cylinder Camry or a basic V6. but either way... good luck with your purchase. The Impala is the best value full sizer this side of a Crown Vic.
  13. Saddam was a derange man who in his old age was writing long winded Arabic romance novels that not even your local Eckard would carry. He had no WMDs he had no program to create WMDs. There was no Al Queda in Iraq till after we invaded. The war in Iraq has accomplished nothing but angering a lot of people who were previously ambivalent towards us. If you are going to respond that "Saddam was a bad man and was killing his own people".... well yeah, but there are other... much worse... dictators out there who aren't sitting on oil fields but we haven't paid much attention to them. Darfur? Zimbabwe? North Korea? Why haven't we invaded them? Because they aren't sitting on oil. Look at who we're rattling our saber at now.... Iran. Guess what Iran has? Oil. $187 Billion invested in alternative energy of all sources would help to ween us off this horrible addiction we have. Will we ever stop using oil completely? Of course not, but we can certainly marginalize it so it has less effect on our lives.
  14. Considering in 2004 Onstar was pretty much standard and you had GMS already you likely paid next to nothing for the equipment itself. Heck, GMS pricing alone saved you more than the cost of the Onstar at sticker price! If you were complaining about a $48,000 '04 STS that you paid full sticker for, you'd have a bit of sympathy..... not so much on an '04 Impala that you got GMS pricing on and probably paid less than 20k for. edit: And it your wife and kids love it so much, have you asked your wife and kids what they though about the OnStar going away? If it's as big an issue for them as it is for you. You friendly local Cheverolet dealer will gladly sell you a shiny new Impala with Active Fuel Management, FlexFuel, Flip storage rear seats and the newest digital OnStar...... all at a low low GMS price.
  15. Cause I don't want a buck tooth wonder? Again, I want a premium car with all the appointments that gets great gas mileage. As long as I can option out an Aura GL the same way I can an Aura XL, I'll bite.
  16. $187 billion + 10s of thousands of lives for a war in Iraq or $187 Billion spent on Biofuel infrastructure, research, and "subsidies" to farmers your call.
  17. As Fly already demonstrated:
  18. only 25% of the people in this forum have the potential to get that joke to it's fullest extent......
  19. uhm....
  20. I think it'd be more likely that he'd never buy a GM again based on the fact that he has an '04 Impala.... but that's just me.
  21. they sell B100 here <in Western PA> with some sort of additive in it to prevent gelling.
  22. especially for a "mild" hybrid
