  2. Autoblog Today, Lexus announced a recall on 2006-model-year GS 300 and IS 250/350 models. Approximately 34,000 cars are involved in the recall over two fuel pipes in high-stress areas that can crack over time. Only one case has been reported, with no accidents, the company says. The recall involves both rear- and all-wheel-drive versions of the GS and IS. Owners will receive notifications in the mail in December and can visit their Lexus dealer to have newly designed fuel pipes installed at no charge.

  9. BMW 5-series Interestingly, I noticed the 7-series has night vision. I don't know if it displays it via a HUD or on a NAV screen. edit: Oh you said GM vehicles..... well..... BMW is doing it... it must be good.
  10. thank you, that's why I asked..... perhaps your graphic could use some sort of key to clarify. I still find it hard to follow your picture. I don't know how detailed you intend your graphic to be in terms of packaging, but could I make another suggestion? I follow the reasoning against hub wheel motors. For packaging reasons, could the motors be mounted further away from the differential and have power transfered via additional drive shafts? Motors don't care which direction they are oriented. They could be mounted semi-vertically behind the rear seats with their output shafts facing down towards the differential.

  12. ya know, if this list is true, then GM bumped off the Chrysler 300 and the Infiniti G35. Here's the 2007 list. 2007 BMW 3-series 2007 Chevrolet Corvette 2007 Chrysler 300 2007 Honda Accord 2007 Honda Fit 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan 2007 Mazda MX-5 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 2007 Porsche Boxster and Cayman 2007 Volkswagen GTI Which really makes me think that C&D is using categories... since Malibu would be the replacement for 300 and CTS would be the replacement for G35.

  16. I did not change my statement at all. Handling and comfort are not mutually exclusive. Two cars can handle quite similarly while one is more comfortable. In fact, that was my point exactly. The difference in handling is rather small in favor of the 3er while the difference in comfort falls in the CTS's favor.
  17. Compared to what else out there? The Accord is already on the list and the Camry is getting knocked regularly now.
  18. yes. While 540hp is a bit excessive, that concept has proven that such a system can exist in one of the smallest cars around this side of a SMART.
  19. there is an incredibly simpler design that would/could achieve the same goals you are going for here; Motor in wheel. that's not to say this isn't a very well thought out concept.... I don't quite follow some of the arrows though... shouldn't the arrow direction for the driveshaft always point the same direction if the car is going forward?
  20. I've driven the 3-er compared to my '04 CTS. No I wasn't pushing the 3er hard because it wasn't mine... I have driven the CTS fairly close to it's limits. In everyday driving, of which 99% of either of these vehicles will be doing, there is little discernible difference. The CTS does feel bigger because it is. The BMW's suspension is tauter... a negative for me living in Western PA. A taut suspension isn't a benefit if the only time it will make a difference in handling is at 9/10ths. The CTS is the car I'd rather commute in and roadtrip in because it is more comfortable than the 3-er and offers 95% of the handling. The next time I'm buying a car for the Nürgburgring, I'll re-evaluate the criteria for buying a car. Point is, most people who buy the 3er don't buy it for the handling... they buy it because it's a BMW and their co-worker told them it had great handling.
  21. Some of us do happen to like the W-body... even if it is a bit old. I've found that nearly every W-body felt like it was designed with my body size in mind. Everything is in perfect reach. There is nothing wrong with choosing old reliable.
