  1. stop rewarding companies for offshoring labor. stop allowing products to be sold here from countries that severely limit our products being sold there. Do something about healthcare.
  2. I never really liked the either generation of the LHs, however, as the LXs age, I've found a new appreciation for the LHs. They look more modern than the newer models.
  3. How many trillions of dollars in debt to the Chinese isn't delusional? When the only overseas markets that are open are labor markets, then yes, we need to be a bit isolationist. All I'm saying is that we impose the same rules on foreign products sold here as are imposed on our products sold over seas. I am tired of having our entire country outsourced to south east asia and then have it sold back to us at Every Day Low Prices at Big Box Mart* *Please watch the link....
  4. The government is too dumb to fund rail properly. Every time Amtrak needs money there is moaning about how Amtrak always loses money and how we should just scrap the service entirely. Well brainiacs... how much profit does the Interstate Highway system return? how much profit do the big, publicly funded, airports return?
  5. No Mag-Lev... far too expensive with not enough return. Maglevs cost nearly 10 times the amount of conventional track on a per mile basis. The fastest MagLev to ever run had a top speed of 581 km/h in 1999. The fastest TGV to ever run had a top speed of 574.8 km/h last April. I think I can sacrifice 7kph for a 90% cost savings and the ability to run conventional trains on the same network if needed.
  6. Not when I become President and impose a tarrif on all cars built buy companies headquartered outside of the U.S. and use that tarrif to pay the legacy costs of the Big 3. The size of the tarrif imposed will be determined by the percentage of world market share the foreign company has. The Japanese want to play tough in their home country? So can we. Edit: My campaign slogan.... "You will buy American... and like it!"
  7. Bored at work and not allowed to surf porn.
  8. From CNBC
  9. Maybach..... not that anyone cares.
  10. I thought that the Denali was originally designed as a Cadillac... then it was decided that Cadillac couldn't sell a truck so it went to GMC. A bit later the Navigator was released and Cadillac had an "Oh $h!!" moment and changed course again.
  11. All brake lines <metal and rubber>, rear air shocks, possibly calipers, coolant flush and fill, inspection, emissions = $1,800 worst case scenario = more than was even spent to buy the car and all the parts needed to reassemble it.
  12. Again, check Obama's website. He details his plan to almost boring levels. Not something you want in a stump speech. If you don't want to vote for him because of his plans, that's fine. But you can't say that he doesn't have them just because you haven't taken the time to do your research. As for actual political experience, they're about the same. Saying that Hillary's time in the Whitehouse gives her Presidential experience is like saying Yoko Ono was a Beetle.
  13. FOG, you usually seem quite reasonable on issues so I'm a bit surprised at you on this one. Obama has very detailed layouts of his plans on his website. If there is a particular issue you have concern with, check out the "Issues" section of his website for details on how he wants to handle things. Now if you disagree with how he wants to address something that's one thing, but you can't say he doesn't explain himself. It's all written out there on his website for you. Not everything can be detailed in a speech or presentation on T.V. Look what happened to Ross Perot when he did that.
  14. at the rate we're going we'll blow ourselves up over some petty religious squabble before it happens.
  15. plus Lambdas plus Sigma 2 decent epsilons, plus another around the corner plus 2 good halo roadsters Plus Astra
  16. Somebody has to date him..... edit: gosh I'm feeling snarky today....
  17. That'd be a first.
  18. Your grandmother's LeMans with a big engine? Or your aunt's Grand Prix coupe with RWD and a big engine? the similarities in "formula" are remarkable.
  19. Lutz. I agree with you about the Volt taking so long to come to market. However, the Volt wasn't really intended to go to market when it was presented. It was only the public's response once they saw it that pushed GM to make it. So we really are seeing the Volt come to production from the very begining rather than being shown the concept 2 years into it. The saddest part about all of this isn't the Volt at all. It's the Camaro. If the Volt comes to market even close to schedule, it will have taken GM less time to put this radically new concept on the road than it took to get a rather technologically unremarkable car on an existing platform out.
  20. So.. wait. Toyota can conquer the market without beating the Accord and Altima..... but the Malibu has to conquer all 3?
  21. My Roadmaster could handle that road.
  22. Fortunately no. Dominic was driving. He was at a light. Readjusted his seating position and pressed down hard on the brake pedal and the left front brake hose popped. Could have been much much worse.
  23. She popped a brakeline tonight.
  24. Ooooh. I love that analogy. If Captain Smith had been standing at the Grand Staircase with the hoi paloi instead of in the Con after the iceburg was hit the ship wouldn't have gone down.... right?
