  1. Please fact check that first, much of it is parsing of words
  2. True. I believe Franklin said it best..... "Those who would trade freedom for security deserve neither freedom nor security" Look at how much of our freedoms have been lost. Owning a gun is not a freedom..... there will always be someone else out there with a bigger, or more weapons than you.
  3. I think you're all wrong. I think that those men in particular were much more in tune with the idea of moderation. In fact, I think a good many of them would be horrified at what that amendment was being used for today.
  4. Here's my reasoning for thinking clogged cat. Check Engine lights are almost always emissions related. You say it's been on for a while which could mean a problem with the system that has been causing the Cat to slowly die rough idle and only being able to maintain power while keeping your foot on it... It's likely that if it is the Cat you'll need a new O2 sensor and possibly an EGR. I had a clogged cat on my Cutlass and it blew the EGR valve clear off the top of the engine.
  5. Apparently, the Republican governor of Florida is giving up on McCain there.... he has stopped campaigning for McCain for the duration of the election.
  6. Ok... good... cause you know this pic of McCain at an ACORN meeting surfaced today....... just sayin. He'd rather win the election than maintain his integrity.
  7. The needs of the citizens of this country have changed substantially since the 1790s. Edit: I want to be clear that I'm not in favor of gun control... but the 2nd amendment was written when it took a minute to load a gun. Do you think the founding fathers really envisioned fully automatic rifles that could explode concrete?
  8. No G8 ST?
  9. You can get a $750,000 line of credit to buy a bunch of Cobalts to sell? This is a crisis of confidence. Banks have to be confident that they'll get their money back when they lend it out. What the government is doing is co-signing on these loans. It doesn't require any initial outlay of money by the government at all. Allowing it to just continue to crash is about the worse possible option.
  10. You're not following. The problem we are in isn't lack of money. Repeat that 5 times out loud before continuing. Our problem is lack of credit. There are healthy banks and unhealthy banks. Healthy banks have the capital the lend but aren't lending because they're afraid they won't get their money back. Unhealthy banks can't lend to anyone. In order for businesses to buy materials and inventory they are given credit lines by the banks. When the banks aren't lending, businesses aren't buying and aren't making payroll. Capital One just cut off dealer inventory financing for auto dealers in NY and NJ. So, repeat 5 times out loud. This is not a tax issue. This is not a tax issue. This is not a tax issue. This is absolutely, positively, not a tax issue. Please be more than a one trick pony. Lowering taxes does NOT solve every problem. We need government intervention to get these banks to loan money again. This is EXACTLY what exacerbated the Great Depression.
  11. I'm just curious Balthy.... if McCain were involved with ACORN, would you heap the same scorn on him for it?
  12. A clear majority of Fox News viewers are wrong.... imagine that! The problem we're in isn't one of liquidity. Lowering taxes on failing corporations isn't going to help at all. In fact, we need MORE government involvement. The current plan to back inter-bank loans seems to be a very sound one. But, and I know this is like a cheese grater on your spin, it requires substantial government involvement to pull it off.
  13. Yeah Yeah..... I hate Chase so much I'm tempted to refinance just to make sure they don't get any (more) of my money......... not counting what they get out of my taxes.
  14. Clogged Cat.
  15. except, that's their job....
  16. how much of what he has posted has turned out to be true?
  17. Has anyone ever pondered the idea that this was Osama's goal all along? He knew he couldn't take out the U.S. with conventional or even guerrilla warfare.... but rather tried to goad the U.S. in to a war where it bankrupted itself until it implodes in financial catastrophe causing citizens to turn on each other and the military responding with force......
  18. How's this for a dirty trick? I have my mortgage set to autopay. For years I've always paid the full amount for the 30 year mortgage. Well, apparently, I have a new optional minimum payment and Washington Mutual automatically switched me to that instead of my full payment amount. It's only $25 a month difference, but had I left it alone, I'd have a balloon payment treat at the end of my mortgage.
  19. Every Sunday morning is real buttermilk pancakes fried in butter on the grittle with sausage or bacon, a large pot of black tea, and a piece of fruit.
  20. Fox news, Drudge Report, and Time Magazine are all reporting that McCain is planning on a major course change for his campaign. FiveThirtyEight.com has the analysis.
  21. The political discussions are not the cause. People acting immaturely are the cause. OCN, you've offended people who thought they were your friends. You've engaged in ad hominem, ad nauseum. You've been spoken to about your attacks on other members of this board and yet you continued to do it. You've been a shining star of why we cannot allow political threads outside of election season, in fact, I think you are the sole reason for me wanting to change my vote for political threads. You have proven me wrong in my feeling that we're all mature enough adults here to have civilized political discussion. While I vehemently disagree with GM4Life and Balthazar politically, they have conducted themselves with a level of maturity <with one exception> that you have either been incapable or unwilling to display. They are able to form a political argument, with facts and figure and links. For that, I respect them and their views and would enjoy tossing the political ball over the net with them indefinitely. In regards to your apology, you are rather fond of demanding actions rather than words. Doctor... heal thyself.
  22. Wait? Haypops... why wouldn't you last as long as the warranty? Did I miss a thread?
  23. The new name is so obvious, I'm surprised none of you have posted it. General Mopar!
  24. The Republicans just don't have the money for the ground game (or any game) that Obama does. RNC just yanked some funding for McCain so they could try and save a few of the congressional seats that are up for election this year. The RNC is basically "calling it" for Obama one month out by doing this.
  25. Just a reality check:
