1. I pick two. Saturn and Buick. Chevy to beat Toyota Saturn to beat VW/Volvo/Ford of Europe Buick to beat the softer side of Lexus/Acura/Lincoln Cadillac to run with the Beemers.
2. That could have summed up your entire insight on the matter, but no, you had to go on. You mean like V8s with self preservation technology? Cylinder deactivation? Airbags? Magnetic ride control? Direct injection for the masses? Onstar and remote vehicle diagnostics? Guidestar? At < $2.00, hybrid cars are a terrible economic model. At < $3.00 is when they are just bad. People are buying hybrids, but up until very recently, and possibly still today, Toyota wasn't making any money on them. That "glimmer" you see on that milky weak coffee brown Pruis is just PR bull$h!. The Malibu is one of the most fuel efficient large cars available. Cobalt and HHR are in the top of their classes. Saturn's had high efficiency models available since inception. GM's trucks, yes there are people that need them, are THE most efficient available. EVERYONE lost sales last month. GMAC changed their financing requirements... ever think THAT might have more to do with GM's sales loss? There isn't an auto manufacturer on the planet more diverse than GM. No, not even Toyota. The only thing said in this rant that has any validity. Sure! What's another 130,000 (conservative estimate) unemployed from GM alone. And when GM/Ford/Chrysler's suppliers go under, what will happen to Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Honda, and Mercedes who use those same suppliers? I hope you kept the receipt for where ever you got your edumacation..... maybe you can get a refund.
3. Toyota was using 4-speed automatics in the Camry as recently as 2004 and STILL uses a 4-speed auto on the Corolla, so it's not like they are light years ahead of GM on this.
4. Get a First Life.
5. 37 and blustery wind here <I'm back in the U.S. BTW> Have the fireplace going and all the heavy curtains closed. My house sits on top of one of the tallest hills around and the back of the house faces due west with no tree cover. That side of the house is getting absolutely pummeled by the wind. Every once in a while I can feel the house shake from the wind... which is disturbing because it's a stone house.
6. I think I just felt the price of gas go up. kidding :AH-HA_wink: great to see that your namesake will be back on the road again soon.
7. He would turn around GM in a year simply because now GM would be "kool".... except now all the cars they sold would have to be returned to the manufacturer when the gas tank got empty for a refill.
8. What in the world makes you think that 40 horses or oxen are "zero emission"?
9. On the road it gives it a more "galloping forward" look rather than the "sitting back on the hind legs" look of most rear drivers.
10. What's with all the hate on the Citroen... a car that zero of you have seen in person? It's much much more attractive in person. It the photos seem to have a bad case of GMPhotographyitis.
11. Not to mention that this was being designed and built... oh about a year ago or more.
12. These numbers should always be calculated in miles not years. 12,500 miles in a year was a very light year for me.
13. what do you mean "begins"?
14. only kinda?
15. is this really site appropriate?///
16. However, in many cases facts are still facts. The amount of false information, incorrect logic, hypocritical accusations and flat out made up, fear mongering, bull$h! flying around here was/is amazing.
17. Obama already has Paul Volknar (the guy who actually pulled us out of the mess, not Reagan) as his economics adviser, what more do you want of the man?
18. I had a "Bartlet for America" sticker on the Cadillac nearly the entire time I had it. I didn't like either choice for president in '04.
19. I know they are the same company, but isn't that an Auburn?
20. As you know, my plans to move to Germany started well before Obama was even a candidate. I have a once in a lifetime opportunity to go live in another country and explore the continent of Europe while I'm still young. Obama will make sure I have a country to come home to. And yes... I fully intend to make you all jealous with the cars that I take out on the Autobahn.
21. IF this were the game "clue". You would have just lost. As you personally know, I always PM a member when I have to edit their post and with one exception, I've only closed my own threads or set them to autoclose at a specific time.
22. Remember how you used to live back in Europe? Might start to need to brush up on that a bit.
23. Might I suggest a new title for this thread?
24. We've been in an "Of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich" kleptocracy for nearly 30 years. THAT is what is truly anti-constitution, anti-democracy, and anti-american.
25. It's not broken. The automatic update of the "Views" counter is turned down to three hours. It is a performance issue. Here is why:
