  1. My Great Grandfather passed away quietly in his sleep last night. He was my friend and mentor. He had a calm, steady, intellectualism. He spoke 7 languages fluently and has been on every continent except for Antarctica. He was highschool educated and rose to become President of the Okonite Company, one of the oldest wire cable companies in the country, where he demonstrated pioneering leadership and understanding that taking care of the company's workforce was in the company's best interest. Just prior to his retirement in 1976, he arranged the following: He was a quiet man who's life centered around taking care of others. He never commanded but always suggested. My whole life I have wanted to be like him and when in difficult situations, I ask myself "What would Jack Wicks do?" Rest in well deserved peace and thank you for wisdom and guidance. I hope I can be even a quarter of the man you were.
  2. Ok...so are we going to have this same retarded discussion for the Regal? The Lambda Escalade? Forget the name for a bit just discuss the merits of the vehicle in relation to it's targeted audience and targeted competition.
  3. I knew you had it in you to speak poorly of GM. You never let us down in that regard.
  4. So, if it were BRX and the SRX was just canceled in favor of the CTS wagon, you'd be cool? Is this really down to a name thing?
  5. The thing has the closest modern equivalent to fins you're gonna get and you think people are going to mix it up with a Saturn?
  6. If the ICE will only take the batteries to 80%.... and the plug will only take the batteries to 80%... doesn't that make 80% the new 100%? To your last point, that only matters if you're at full throttle all the time.
  7. A man can appreciate cars from all eras and still have good design sense and STILL, by nature of good design sense, not like the RX. From the rear, the RX looks like they jacked a Subaru Impreza. The interior would be at home in the Camry.... hell, the Camry's interior has more design cohesion.
  8. Mmmmmm turbo DI 3.6
  9. The biggest difference between Electromotive and the Volt is the battery. In a locomotive the engines never shut off* *GE has developed a hybrid locomotive and I'm not sure how that technology works yet.
  10. well pricing is supposed to be the same.... so hopefully just higher volume.
  11. I thought this was going to be a post on Crosley! Looks like I wasn't far off.
  12. Summer 2007, on the trip to visit Camino when Fly picked up the LeSabre, I also visited my Great Grandfather. He is my mentorl. It is him who I wish to model my life after. Anyway, I was speaking with him about my idea of moving to Germany and how the rest of the family doesn't want me to go. He said "Drew, don't get to be 95 years old and say 'I wish I had........' because by then it will be too late". and so the decision was made. That goes for you too 'blu.
  13. Enclave is doing quite fine with a new name.
  14. The Pruis is way overly complicated. Just because Toyota made it work doesn't mean it is the right way to go about doing it. The Insight, and this is assuming the basic layout of the powertrain is the same as the current Civic hybrid, is actually the simplest design of all. What is interesting about these two different hybrid models is that GM took some basic concepts from each one and assimilated them into their 2-mode hybrid design. The Volt is still a completely new way of doing things and as such, it's untested. The most similar power train configuration out there would be Diesel-Electric locomotives, but the scale is so different as to not be relevant.
  15. I understood your meaning to be just that. The ICE won't completely recharge the batteries. It'll just get them to 80%. I'll concede that I was wrong about the 20% v 30% of the lower threshold, but my point stands.
  16. Who cares if the youngins don't know what Invicta means?! If they really want to know, they can go on that new fangled interwebs series of tubes thing they keep yammering about. What does Camry mean? Elantra? Corolla? Passat? At least Invicta is a real word.... and it just sounds better than Lacrosse even without the bluehair connotation.
  17. The system will keep the batteries somewhere between 20% and 80% charged. The NAV system is also suppose to be smart enough that it will know when you are headed home and only use the gas engine to charge the batteries enough to get you there.
  18. Perhaps a billboard or two.
  19. Hasn't the Astra been one of the best selling cars in Europe for a while now? Just because people in the U.S. don't get it doesn't make it bad.
  20. Dude, Verizon Fios + IP Phone + Webcam..... seriously... just work from home.
  21. But what was the point of Edsel? Why did Ford feel they even needed it? How was Mercury not mid-priced enough? In 1957, Packard was on the ropes. Nash and Hudson were basically gone, merged into AMC. Desoto was pushed down market by Chrysler and Imperial, so now Chrysler was competing with itself in the mid-priced market.
  22. till the interior bits started falling off.
  23. lowering the credit score requirement is just one piece. I'm sure the people here who work at dealerships can verify, but there are going to be stricter requirements for proof of income and minimum down payment.
  24. you can get ugly gray plastic in a jetta also.
