  1. Actually, a fairly famous world leader was driven around in this in 1963: His counterpart was driven around in a Packard knock off. The English prime ministers were driven around in Daimlers. The French President Charles De Gaulle opted for a Citroen DS. The Japanese Prime Minister used Toyota Crowns So yeah.... aside from those.... they all used Benz....or Cadillac, or Rolls, or Lincoln
  2. This'll end up in Politic real fast. Oh globalism humpers... where are you? What was that about free trade again? Remember the uproar over the mere suggestion that we consider limiting the U.S. C4C to purchases of domestic branded vehicles? Japan and Korea had the WTO on speed dial in about 1/2 a second.
  3. Funny that... I'm in Connecticut today, I could be there by dinner time.... got a number?
  4. Whales fahrt im Wales?
  5. <pwnage> That Jaguar XF that you hump all the time must really SUCK then because it's on the dated DEW98 platform that the Mustang rides on... and the Thunderbird did, and the Lincoln LS. <pwned>
  6. Says the guy who's given out more negative rep than anyone else . I've switched it to positive only.
  7. PCS has been dropping LOTS of hints about Zeta making a grand return to N/A
  8. The Winner(s)!! This one was tough to judge because there were a lot of great entries. Originally, there was only going to be the grand prize and the participation prizes.... but two entries caught my eye so much that I decided I needed to do more. As you know, the grand prize winner will receive this 1:18 scale diecast model of the 1966 Toronado. I have added to that a second place prize, a Toronado Christmas Tree ornament by Hallmark: All participants will receive a Cheers and Gears prize pack for entering the contest. So... time to announce the winners. As I said, two chops in particular caught my eye. Second place Dodgefan's Pontiac Silverstone: I like this one because, other than the wheels, it looks a lot like what Pontiac would have done in 1979. It has a sportier apperance than the corperate siblings which would have fit Pontiac just fine. First Place MRDETROITMETAL's Pontiac Grandville I think this is what a Pontiac E-body would have looked like by 1985. It's also closest to the ideas that I've had in my head for years but have been unable to put down to a photograph. There is no reason Pontiac couldn't have beat Ford to the punch with composite headlights. Scarlet Swordfish, I think your sketch deserves mention simply because it's great. But to me, it looks a lot more G-body than E-body. It would have made a great Grand Prix. Thanks to everyone participating. If you submitted an entry please PM me your address so I can send out your prizes. Watch for our two competitions to be announced later on tonight.
  9. I could see if Dominic wanted to sell the ToadSmasher we rebuilt a year ago.....positrack and lt-1
  10. It's a diesel, it's a coupe, it's an inline 5-cylinder and there are no B-pillars!! Perfect plow vehicle! Hell, I don't even like Benz all that much and I'm tempted.
  11. Oh look! You found that old set of tires in your garage from your uncle's wrecked Jeep.... you couldn't figure out what to do with them and were going to throw them out, but they look to be in decent enough shape that she could use them. He only had 8,000 miles on them when he totaled the Jeep.
  12. It's the preceding 24 hours I believe.
  13. It's meant to be Chevy's "SMART" car. It's not meant to be a roadtrip car. It's a city car.
  14. If I had my way, you'd have a set number of points to use either for positive rep or negative rep, it'd be up to you. Unfortunately, the software makes me set a quota on each.
  15. The idea behind this is so that there is a level of self moderation here. The population of C&G is generally fair... I'm monitoring the logs and watching for abuse. The greatness of the system is that if you see a post that you feel has been repped unfairly, you can rep it the other direction. If a moderator unapproves a post, the post goes away and you don't ever get to see it.
  16. I'm guessing AWD standard
  17. Tires are also a lot different in profile than they were back in the day. Tires are much taller and narrower. The lower, wider tires that are "required" today hurt snow performance relative to the tall narrow tires of 40 years ago.
  18. I always put snow tires on all four corners of the CTS and there was a remarkable difference. You can go with Dunlop Wintersports and get all of the snow tire performance of the Blizzaks at 2/3s of the cost.
  19. Cadillac XTS concept hint to be at NAIAS Cadillac ZTS rendering by our own Andrew Currie December 7th, 2009 by Drew Dowdell Sometimes you find hints to the future right in front of your face. On the TellGM website (formerly Tell Fritz), Bryan Nesbitt, General Manager of Cadillac answers a question regarding the upcoming Cadillac XTS sedan. While Mr. Nesbitt won't confirm nor deny the platform the XTS will be riding on, he does say that the concept car will be shown at the upcoming North American International Auto Show and that it should reveal a very strong hint as to the design direction of the production vehicle. Digg this Up! Vote this up on Reddit!
  20. well don't run it too long with that bad harmonic balancer once you do get it started.
  21. Not crazy at all! Even if you had to replace the entire engine, the rest of the car is in fantastic shape!
  22. anything that makes the employees, on average, more comfortable will help productivity. meaning... if your attire makes more employees uncomfortable, then it's not appropriate.
  23. Of course... I try this trick and end up with this. http://wheeling.craigslist.org/cto/1491050761.html
