  1. I agree. What is soooo astonishing in the photos he took, nothing new IMO at all. GM should be releasing photos themselves in any case. He broke the rules and paid the price, but he did it for pics that are just as easy to obtain on the internet... not very smart.
  2. I watch it all the time. Awesome footage! Something inside me feels reallllly bad for the drivers back then, especially the ones who went.... OVER THE WALL!!! Not a spin out, up and over the wall, and out of the racetrack. Insane!
  3. CMG

    Devastation

That sucks Viper, sorry to hear it. My condolences.
  4. Not much of a difference to me, I don't think anybody who isn't a car/truck nut will even notice a difference?
  5. Yup, I'm the same way. Such a small detail in the big picture, it sure would be nice to be addressed. Any aftermarket steering wheel brought out for the Challenger would be a sales hit I bet, just have the airbag interchangeable to the new wheel and what a difference it would make IMO. The rest of the car is pretty danged impressive IMO, just the one small gripe would be nice to be fixed IMO..?
  6. Yeah, myth. Add too much oil and you won't raise your oil pressure to the point it will push the lifters solid, it just won't happen. Poor/weak valve springs sure...... I've heard of oil pumps cavitating... I've heard of fuel pumps cavitating... neither will have anything to do with valve float. Windage in the crankcase being caused by overfilled oil I can see, that's why windage trays and crank scrapers are used, but engines without these parts don't seem overly concerned about relatively low rpms and no windage trays or scrapers...? Aeration won't be an issue unless you are pulling F1 rpms IMO.
  7. Great you got it solved DF! I just can't understand why a faulty crank sensor wouldn't have thrown/stored a code!!?!
  8. As far as Bill France and his dislike for MoPars, I think it all started with Kiekhaefer. Try searching Kiekhaefer and Nascar and you will see what I mean. His vindictive bannings and rule changes never ceased after Kiekhaefer ran his MoPars.
  9. I see it pretty much the same way. Bill France had a hard on for the Mopars, he banned the 426 Hemi when it came out, he tried everything he could to suck the life out of the Mopars, why do you think they left in 71 or whenever it was... I would rather watch 60's Nascar races all day long than ONE present day Nascar race. Big old Pontiacs running high speeds beside a full sized Ford, or MoPars that actually LOOKED LIKE MOPARS! I like the old days..
  10. 1- ONE. A Chevy Express. 2- Not very likely! I've had quite a few problems with my Express, but it's still a decent vehicle. I wanna try something different next time, I would get a Dodge Sprinter but they are priced outta my line of sight.... but you never know.. I'll drive the Express for a couple more years and see how things go...
  11. I saw an SRT8 Challenger in person, pretty damned impressive. My only knock is the steering wheel, it shoulda had a wheel with "Challenger" written all over it, not "parts bin". The car will sell for sure, it's a looker on the street, where it counts. Don't forget the first year cars are all SRT8s, they will EARN their reputation, they stop, corner and go like nobody's business....
  12. You AND Consumer's Reports, it seems...... http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/18/oh-snap...6226x1200183825
  13. I sure hope Chrysler doesn't axe the Corvette when the takeover happens. The Viper will be the top of the line performance car, Chrysler might put the Corvette out to pasture, that would sure be sad. I guess we will see August 4th!
  14. LOL Who made up THOSE numbers..??? With domestic car sales DOWN, a newly introduced model at a time that couldn't be worse is gonna be some kinda magical thing to generate 160,000 vehicles sold in first year sales. Seems to me they are setting up a disaster if that's the numbers they expect. I can't see GM thinking that.
  15. If Chrysler keeps GM they might look at that, but I thought Hummer was already gone? I read it in some cat puke on Ebay.....
  16. I saw a rumor that there is speculation Chrysler is about to buy GM for pennies on the dollar.... GM is gone in the next few weeks.
  17. Like my sister's 10 year old Toyota Camry that needs repairs once a month and burns blue so bad it's hard to see her license plate when she drives away? I guess I don't follow the masses, I don't believe in "import superiority" just because a magazine or two pushes them.... and I come by my opinions through alot of experience. There are lots of reliable imports, but there are lots of reliable domestics too. Go find as many early 1980's Hondas or Toyotas as you can for sale, and go and find as many early 80's K cars as you can. Both were basic transportation when they came out, which one do you think has PROVEN more reliable...? :AH-HA_wink:
  18. Have you seen your thread on the 2011 "Cobalt replacement"? Tell us what you think of the exterior styling....? :AH-HA_wink:
  19. You guys are too funny. A mid size family sedan is built for WHAT? It's built inexpensively (no luxury stuff for free?) and it's made to transport 4-5 people in modest accomodations for reasonable amounts of money, purchse price, maintenance costs etc... It is NOT built to look good sitting next to a Ferrari, and won't. The Sebring isn't a bad looking car now, it belnds in quite well with the other transportation cars out there. It's not an Aztec that looks like a pimple in traffic, it's "just another car", which - while not being a true styling endorsement is much more accurate than the biased rants above. Some of you need to remove your blinders, but probably never will.... *sigh*
  20. I like a few K car derivatives.... I had a Rampage and really liked the thing, it was peppy and good on gas, and I could actually USE it... I had a Shelby Lancer with a 2.2 turboII and a Getrag 5 speed, it was actually a nice car. The bare bones K cars were sort of along the same lines as a VW Beetle for me, they drove from A to B for a long time, and you could fix things with a coat hanger. :AH-HA_wink: Look up "Relentless" on the interent, there are a few K car crazies out there, and the Relentless Reliant is one of them!
  21. I've knocked on so many doors over the years it isn't even funny.... I bought a 1956 Fargo 2 ton truck from the original owner, the truck was in AWESOME shape, I paid $450.00 for it. I knocked on the door and gave them the "What are you doing with the truck, would you want to sell it" questions...... I've bought dozens of cars by door knocking. Many were astounding deals too! Doesn't hurt to ask. Right?
  22. Easier to see pic of the side in the daylight..... Wayne's World!!!!
  23. 440 HP engine, steel crank and all.... The engine is completely rebuilt and the tranny too, but it has to come out down the road and get some serious detailing, it wasn't done for looks... hahaha I already got it running...
  24. Interior pics from today, I think it's obviously a good thing this car sat in a closed garage for the last 17 years, the interior isn't that bad to be honest, needs some work, but I have work galore already.... LOL
  25. Yup. 440 HP car....
