  1. Okay.....hmmm.....the silver shots are making me think that when I see it in Detroit next week in person, that might make a difference on how I feel about the design from the A-pillar back....we'll have to see..... I still think they married too much "Lexus IS-series design" in to the roofline and body sides.....and not enough "Caddy." Well, all will be explained for me on Friday, 1-19-07. (Okay I have NO friggin' idea why this posted three times........sorry guys)
  2. Ahhhh $h!..... I didn't notice that.....the damn car still has a foot-operated parking brake? Cadillac, get your HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS.....! You know that's the ONE thing about my interior that drives me to rage.....I hate the foot-operated parking brake. Not only does it feel and look "unsporty", I'm CONSTANTLY popping the hood the two levers are SO close together.......plus when you are pulling into a parking space, in a rush, it's cumbersome to apply it quickly so you can shut off the car and jump out..... Think about it this way and think about having a clutch to deal with.....you are pulling into a parking space....well, you HAVE to put the car in neutral or shut off the engine FIRST......then take your foot OFF the clutch pedal.....then you apply the foot-operated parking brake. With a console lever, you can pull into the parking space and IMMEDIATELY apply the parking brake by pulling up the handle with your right hand WITHOUT having to shut off the car, or put the shifter into neutral, or pull your foot off the clutch pedal. A console handle that you can simply grab and pull up is much more ergonomic, simpler to use, and nicer to bat.... Maybe it's not THAT big of a deal in an auto-equipped car because you seldom ever use the parking brake.....but I think if you are going to be serious enough to offer a manual transmission in your "sport sedan", that's an important thing that shouldn't have been overlooked....it's the difference between being a "posseur" or being a serious intender in the sport-sedan segment.
  3. :AH-HA_wink: You know what? I love it too...... That's why I'm kinda underwhelmed by the new one......
  4. Don't be so sure......as I stated in another thread, Cadillac advertises that the current CTS only "requires" 87-octane. That may be true.....but it states clearly in the owner's manual that 89-octane IS required for "best performance......" Granted it's not 91-octane, saving a few bucks....but I do find GM's advertising/marketing of this a bit misleading.....in other words it will run just fine on 87 and not damage the engine.....but most cars that "require" 91 will run just fine on 87 thanks to the knock sensor...... To me, I don't give a rat's ass if I have to put 91-octane in my car or not.....it's simply not that big of a deal to me, price-wise......
  5. They ALL "run" on regular unleaded..... The difference is that they suggest 91-octane for "best performance and fuel economy"......just as my '07 CTS says.....it also "runs" on 87-octane, but suggests to run 89-octane "for best performance or trailer towing."
  6. Hmmm...."still garbage" What exactly (besides the steering wheel) classifies as "garbage" with this redesigned interior????????????
  7. I like this car alot....! At first I was kinda like "what the f*ck?" But then I came back and looked at it again today and I'm becoming quite the fan. Ford didn't "pussy" out and instead gave us a Focus rehash that has some interesting design elements.....inside AND outside. The new interior even looks pretty smart....even if I'm not a big fan of all that silver trim...... Much more distinctive, aggressive, and smartly styled than Cobalt......hmmmm.....interior looks 10-times better also.......
  8. I was going to leave mine off of the CTS.....but the frickin' dealer had it put on before I could tell them..... Ugh.....
  9. The Fusion reference was PERFECT.....and sums up my feelings entirely! Where's all the creases and knife-edges down the sides, c-pillar, and rear end like on the current car? Oh you can kinda make out a few subtle ones if you look closely enough.....but front-end aside, they went way too "Lexus" with this car for my tastes...... You know why I like the current CTS? I HATED it when the car first came to market.....too different, too creased......and low-and-behold, I'm the proud owner of an '07. That's what was magical in the current CTS when it came out.....and it is the ONLY Cadillac to truly follow that mantra.... I'm so confused.......the more I think about it, the more I'm disappointed in this new CTS. Yet on the same hand, I can truly say that I DO think it's an attractive, classy car.....yet I'm still disappointed....
  10. Very mixed reaction from this current-gen CTS owner. My overall impression is favorable......but I feel disappointed in what I consider a "dumb-down" of the exterior style from the A-pillar back. It looks like to me they did the same thing with this new CTS (compared to the current one) that they did with the current STS (compared to the current CTS)......in other words, the car looks alot more bland to me in the profile and roofline. The front end is GREAT.....but it gets boring from the A-pillar back. I also LOVE the interior......another nice job. So.....great front-end.....great interior.....but boring otherwise. They lost another opportunity, IMHO, of buidling upon the current CTS's "knife-edge" styling. Great design is more than just a "pretty face." That's what I consider this new CTS....a "pretty face." I sum up my feelings this way......the new CTS doesn't make me want to run out and trade in my current car early just in order to get this new one. Would I consider leasing the new one at the end of my current lease? Sure...the new CTS will be a contender. But I really wanted a car that would make me "pull teeth" to get out of the lease in my '07.....this new one doesn't captivate me that much..... Nice car.....slight disappointment.....
  11. Uh....I'm with Scott.....the sheer Tundra-bashing is immaturity being shown at it's worst..... Let's have some real conversation about the truck......M-KAY...? I'm a non-pickup guy that is a big fan of this new Toyota (maybe that's what they were looking for?) I like the exterior look, I LOVE the interior, and the new 5.7L sounds like it will be a superb powertrain. I'm also guessing that the 4.7L will match up more with GM's 4.8L in terms of volume.....with the new 5.7L being the highest-capacity V8 offering.....matching up with the GM 5.3L. Anyone seen a bench-seat setup yet??
  12. All this talk about Corolla being "underpowered" is mindless wishful thinking..... Car and Driver's recent comparison test showed a Corolla LE with a 5-speed manual (NOT the more powerful XRS version) going from 0-60 in only 7.7secs.......that hardly spells "underpowered" to me..... The only two Cobalt instrumented tests I've seen (non-SC) were an automatic LS by Car and Driver (8.4sec to 60) and a 5-speed SS sedan by Motor Trend in last year's CoTY competition (7.1sec)
  13. But you are confusing the trim level "T-Type" with the "T" option package. In the later years (or maybe only '87) the "T-Type" as a trim level went away......replaced with option packages.....the "T" package, the "Turbo" package, etc.....
  14. Later in the model years......you could order the "T" Package (wheels, tires, suspension, sport steering wheel) and the "Turbo" package (powertrain) separately on ANY Regal model......I was at a car show in Irvine a few weeks ago, and two guys had two Regal Turbos there.....both "Q" ships one was light blue, and the other was white. They were both "Limited" models with the bench seats, but were equipped with all the good bits. They had the stock sport wheel, and the stock I/P that had that goofy bar-graph tachometer and boost gauge in the lower right... So....it's possible to have one that doesn't look like an "authentic" T-Type.....but still does have all the good chassis and powertrain bits.
  15. Obviously you've got your mind set up..... The Deltas that I've driven have had a clunky, flexy feel to the chassis......certainly not the "more solid and put together" you describe above......
  16. Obviously you've got your mind set up..... The Deltas that I've driven have had a clunky, flexy feel to the chassis......certainly not the "more solid and put together" you describe above......
  17. I'll be there on Friday, Saturday, Sunday the 19th - 21st......
  18. Well, the new Malibu is certainly nice enough to do very well in the marketplace.....however, knowing current consumer perceptions, saying it's going to "kick Honda, Toyota, and Nissan in the nuts" is perhaps being a bit too optimistic.....
  19. This DAMN well better be OPTIONAL...... I'm not gonna have some f*cking big-brother-type system deciding when or if I'm gonna drive...... Say goodbye to going out to dinner and having, say, two glasses of wine with dinner.....that would most likely put you over the limit and shut your car down. I HATE all this drunk-driving PC $h!..... Don't get me wrong....I'm all for getting drunk-driving criminals off the roads....the ones that kill or injure people, etc.....but dammit I'm pissed that the laws today conspire against someone like myself going out for what I'll call "social" drinking....and then have to risk my license and driving record in the off-chance I'd get a DUI for being barely or slightly over the limit.... Groups like M.A.D.D. have their own agendas and do nothing but make things WORSE for the majority of us out there......I guarantee you if this system is successful, one day, you'll find it STD equipment in every car offered for sale in the U.S.
  20. OK....just saw the interior pics...... Very nice....! With a hint of 300 in the instrument cluster and center stack. Ironically, this dash/door panel layout looks to be more plush than even the 300's interior.....
  21. I like them.....! Especially that D-pillar..... The Chrysler even has a hint of "Honda Odyssey" in it...... The 4.0L powertrain ought to be class-competitive..... NOW....let's hope they don't share interior materials with the trucks.......
  22. Exactly..... For example, most people will fill out a vehicle quality survey......IF they have a bitch...... If ur happy with your purchase, most likely you won't take the time to fill out a survey. I myself fall victim to this phenomenon. How many times you YOU filled out a comment card at a restaurant, let's say? Probably never....unless you had a negative dining experience......
  23. Ahh.....don't necessarily read TOO much into VW's score.......many times younger consumers use VW as a stepping stone to Audi or BMW. My friend Julie went from a Honda Civic....to a VW Jetta VR6....to a prev-gen 325i.....to her current-gen 325i..... That's the problem with these kinds of surveys.....they don't (can't) take reality into consideration with regards to people's buying habits......a low score doesn't necessarily mean that consumers were unhappy with a brand....
  24. Buick drivers are so old, they lose their license or die before they get a chance to purchase another car........ Didn't you ever hear of Buick's special "Last-Time Driver Program" incentive? (a little joke....referring to GM's "first-time" driver incentive.)
