  1. I've been a general car nut since childhood with my Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Tomica, Corgi, etc. I still love Mustangs, which I've been around since childhood w/ my folks' '69 and my older brother always had 2-3 '60s and '80s Mustangs at a time. I've owned 2 Mustangs, will likely own more... I've read car magazines from childhood-I've had subscriptions to Road & Track and Car & Driver since age 7..and built model kits since then... My tastes in cars have expanded and changed (I love modern BMWs and Jeeps now), I'll still be fond of American iron from about 1965-1975...pony cars, muscle cars, land yachts of that era.
  2. I wouldn't pay more than 25k for a Hyundai..they just still have a cheap image in my mind..over 30k and Asian, I'd go for an Infiniti or Acura...
  3. I'd go with the Maxima, esp. an SE w/ a manual. I've driven a friend's '02 several times and find it quite nice...I've had an '05 GP as a rental and wasn't impressed...
  4. 'Assfactor 4' is quite the band name...some kids I knew in high school had a hair metal band called 'Defecator'...great name. When I was in high school, some kids were into goth and industrial, and of course hair metal and punk...the Dead Kennedys had plenty of fans, as did hair bands like Motley Crue, Warrant, Ratt, Poison. I was more into post-punk..Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, The Cure, New Order, U2, Echo & The Bunnymen, Peter Gabriel.. some hard rock--AC/DC, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Guns and Roses-- and classic rock and blues, which I still love--The Who, Eric Clapton (saw him Sunday night in Phoenix w/ Robert Cray, great show), Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, etc.
  5. Sorta related, sorta not..I feel old..I did a google on 'screamo' and found a Wikipedia entry on 'screamo' bands.. I've never heard of any of them.. Screamo article on Wikipedia
  6. Heh-heh..the Canadian programmers I work with all are still doing PowerBuilder... they all went to the U. of Regina (except for one guy that went to McGill).
  7. I have conversations like that with my mom on the phone all the time.. Mom: How's your work? Me: Work is busy..I just started a new project... Mom: The weather is so awful here...snow and cold.. Me: The weather has been snowy here.. Mom: This Anna Nicole news is so sad.. random context switching for about 20 min. twice a week...
  8. Hmmm...is fart a noun or verb here? It feels like it's missing the verb... 'I really, really make a long hard fart' sounds better.. Flattus emission can be relaxing, though. It does relieve pressure..
  9. This works for me...I like taking drives into the mountains..maybe 50-150 miles west from Denver... stroll along the main street of small towns..very relaxing..great Spring thru Fall.. I like doing this a lot also...in driving distance from home, I like going to central & Western Slope Colorado towns, places like Salida, Gunnison, Ouray, Silverton away from the resorts for some R&R. Or northern New Mexico. If I fly away, I like going to Northern Arizona, Sonoma County, Ca, or my old stomping grounds of Western PA/Eastern Ohio (great for fall colors).
  10. I'm sure the Homeland Security guys already monitor all of our email or are trying to...this is the kind of thing I could see the Republicans loving..
  11. I'm against it, but I'm sure the Republicans would love something like this..the uses for it are endless.
  12. To unwind, I like: A 1/2 hr swimming in the pool. A 1/2 hr or so in the jacuzzi. An hr or two relaxing on the sofa with a glass of wine or two, listening to some of my favorite CDs (lots of guitar puts me in a great mood--vintage Clapton, Pink Floyd, U2, etc) A good night's sleep (though I need sleeping pills to get it)
  13. Yes, I used to do that all the time back when I had cars with single disc players..now that I have a 6 disk in dash and the iPod, it's something I don't need to do while driving...
  14. No time change here in sunny Phoenix...but I'll have to deal with it tommorow when I go home to Denver..will be nice having more daylight in the afternoons, but I'm not looking forward to more morning darkness...
  15. Cool...those random finds are the most fun, IMHO..
  16. As a kid in the mid '70s, I fell in love with my dad's '69 Mustang..the fastback styling ('Sportsroof'), shark nose, width, etc, the rumbly exhaust, the speed...I just love the look of the '69/70 Mustangs. That car has been in my family since new--I helped my folks restore it in the mid '80s, and it passed from my father to my mom and it's now mine (stored at my mom's place in Ohio with my '87 Mustang GT). I'd like to get a '70 Mach 1 to go with it..
  17. I like the Wrangler in both the 2dr and 4dr forms.. it's a good product, better for Jeep than the Compass, IMHO. I've thought a used Rubicon would be a fun vehicle, though I wouldn't want one as a daily driver (too rough, too basic inside).
  18. 'Shortened word version'? Nope, that's a racial slur..you are only making yourself sound like a redneck...and you need a spell checker.
  19. Hmmm....interesting..speaking of pilots, I had an interview today with a company that is a subsidiary of Boeing..
  20. Yes, complete nonsense... you can't equate selling merchandise to war crimes.. where a consumer product is made ultimately DOESN'T MATTER..what counts is that it is a quality product for a fair price.
  21. I saw this concept in person..it's huge. I like the rear alot more than the front. I think if the whole car were sectioned about 6 inches from the body below the greenhouse, it would look a lot better... Chrysler at one time did some great (IMHO) looking huge cars, like the massive '69-73 Imperials, New Yorkers, etc with 'fuselage' styling that was the high point of the 'lower, longer, wider' mantra...
  22. Well, I've read in more than one article that the 21st Century is the 'Chinese Century' as the 20th was the 'American Century'. The US is a nation in decline...will we end up like Britain or France--a 2nd tier world power but still vibrant and alive, or like Russia--a dying nation with a bleak future?
  23. She's interesting..I read an interview of her in Q magazine last month.
  24. Yes, lots to do here..the previous posters have it pretty well covered...the 16th st mall downtown is fun, Larimer Square, Writer Square, the general LoDo area, Cherry Creek.. lots of restaurants in CC and the Wash Park area (the park is good for people watching)...the mountains are a short drive away.. Coors Brewery tour in Golden is fun. Blackhawk and Central City have gambling if that's your thing.. Boulder is always interesting, lots there..music, food, etc.. The Cherry Creek etc name gets confusing as it's used for everything around here...the Cherry Creek neighborhood is in Denver proper (basically University and 1st Ave/Speer Blvd), but there is a Cherry Creek high school in Greenwood Village, Cherry Creek Reservoir which is near Aurora, etc. There is also Cherry Hills, which is the Beverly Hills type suburb (and nearby is Greenwood Village, which is kind of a Scottsdale like suburb, near where I work). I used to work in Cherry Creek and had lots of lunch choices everyday..now I'm down south in the DTC (office park along I-25). I used to live in Colorado Springs also, lots to do down there..the Garden of the Gods Park has beautiful rock formations, Manitou Springs in a funky little town, Cripple Creek is close by in the mountains with gambling.. As an aside, I noticed someone mentioned Los Alamos, NM above..neat place..haven't been there in a few years, but a good friend from grad school lives there and works at the LANL. I like that area and Santa Fe quite a bit..
  25. Just thinking outside the box...I'm not limited to past ideas of what a Camaro is... besides, BMW has diesel coupes..
