  1. Ah..so that's what battery protection is... my Jeep has that, the interior and exterior lights will go off after a few minutes if left on. With the Impala, wouldn't the automatic lights have to be set in the automatic position instead of off to work? I remember specifically turning the lights on..and remember, Avis rentals tend to be not loaded, so maybe it didn't have the auto lights. With the Infiniti, maybe the lights were set to off..at least w/ my Jeep, if the lights are turned to off, they don't automatically come on..they have to be in the automatic position.
  2. Battery protection?
  3. Anyone know if the Cutlass convertible was offered with a manual? A buddy of mine has a '95 w/automatic...red w/ white interior. It's a neat car, probably the most distinctive of the W-bodies.
  4. Apparently at one time Orange County was full of bible thumpers...it seems like they all moved to Colorado Springs in the '90s.. Outside of the major metro areas, there are vast parts of 'middle America' I avoid...too many conservatives, gun nuts, and bible thumpers for my tastes..but I do like metro Denver, Chicago, Cleveland and Pittsburgh, areas I've spent considerable time in..
  5. I've seen people w/ DRLs driving around w/ the lights off at night. That got me one time..I had an '04 Impala rental car and got in it early in the morning (5am) and drove off, didn't realize for a while that the lights weren't fully on (the DRLs operated the low beams but not the taillights). My Jeep has the automatic lights, so I'm used to them coming on automatically.
  6. I'm headed off to Ohio tommorow for the holiday weekend, will probably go to a car show or two over the weekend..I'm always amazed at the old cars I see at car shows in those small towns..
  7. I went to Home Depot the other night and saw several new Tundras, incl. one set up commercial style with a ladder rack. Saw a base model regular cab w/ black bumpers and steel wheels--wow, they look homely. I have yet to see a new Silverado or Sierra in work truck trim (black bumpers, etc)..the ones I've seen are all chromey...they do make a work truck version of them, I assume? I think on the whole though, I see more new Tundras around than the new Silverados and Sierras..
  8. A backup camera seems like it would be superflous (I can understand the utility of one in a massive SUV or van, but a midsize sedan??? But common features like automatic lights and a trip computer I would think would be there...
  9. Those never made it to production, though....as far as real flagships, the XLR is the current Cadillac flagship.
  10. I'm looking forward to seeing the C6 on my next trip across the pond (probably next year sometime). I've always found Citroens interesting, very individualistic styling...the DS in the '50s looked so modern, so different from other automakers designs. I've watched several of '60s and early '70s French crime movies lately, pretty interesting selection of cars seen in the streets of Paris, Nice, etc....Citroen DSes mixed in with a couple '67 Camaros amidst Renault Dauphines, Fiats, etc (one film had the lead driving a '66 Fury).
  11. Interesting..I didn't realize the Ram used the 4.7..I assumed all V8 Rams were 5.7 Hemis. I thought the 4.7 was only in the GC and Commander (apparently it's also available in the Dakota, Durango and Aspen).
  12. Cool..futuramic design.
  13. I haven't done it in a while, but I used to take 35mm B&W photos...I remember taking a roll of pics around the U of Michigan campus when I was there in the mid '90s...B&W instantly makes a scene look older, I think...interesting to play around with, esp. winter shots.
  14. The Stream is GO!
  15. Interesting...Siber appear to be modified Dodge Stratus.
  16. The A4 looks as I expected...front and rear detailing similar to the A5, the proportions of the A5, and the signature Audi sedan greenhouse...
  17. GMC Cascade. (Cascadia?) Or maybe use the Western town name theme like other trucks and SUVs.. GMC Telluride. GMC El Paso. GMC Tempe. GMC Arvada (this would sound good with the Acadia) GMC Cheyenne. (Chevy used to use it as a truck trim level long ago) GMC Scottsdale (Chevy used to use it as a truck trim level long ago) ...or G8 Denali
  18. How about Pontiac G7 or GMC SCT (or STC) (Sport Coupe Truck/Sport Truck Coupe)
  19. The last two digits used to be displacement, but BMW has strayed in recent years...the last US 328 had a 3.0, I think, for example..
  20. Yes...I think the poster meant Gen Y....Xers like myself were born from '64-80, I think..I know plenty of Xers that drive Audis..
  21. I think the title was 'modern', not 1990s..
  22. Wierd... I'm glad I have terriers instead of kids....they are easy to clean up after.

    NEW FIT

    The Fit is GO!
  24. The '69 Daytona and '70 Superbird were wonderfully outrageous cars from an era of wonderfully outrageous cars.. those old American muscle cars are so cool..
  25. This reminds me of a line from the movie '8MM'...'There are some things that you see, and you can't unsee them.' Great line.
